Also where does the cheaper Spector Legend fit into the equation?
good point, though i think that they are probably on a par with my ibby, the bodies look flatter than the rebop or euro and the pickups and electrics are different no idea about the sound though
-
i like it our last studio session we specifically wanted to record it like we were playing live, not just one peice at a time we recorded the 5 songs one after the other all together, then re-recorded each part back over it to maintain the pace and feel, much better than playing to a click track although when we do play live i hardly move, something i really need to get out of
-
are the rebops really that bad, as i'm looking to upgrade from my ibby and i can possibly stretch to a rebop but a euro, as much as i'd like one, is well out of my range, thomman have the rebop for 870! ok theres no choice of colours but i like black so everyones a winner
You can afford a Euro! Mine is for sale for not much more than a rebop. And I am 45 minutes away. ☺
just waiting for some money to come through so if yours is still available i'll bare it in mind
-
arrrgh why did i look in this den of iniquity, spector GAS has gone into god mode, i cant afford a euro but i'm still looking at them. are the rebops any good (i'm sure you'll get tired of me asking)
Pah, not accepting criticism from someone who thinks Bexleyheath is in South East London (ex Walworth Road boy)!!
ha, never said i was good at geography

teenage kicks, really gets my goat and the worst thing is i have to play it in our band despite my constant complaints and total look of disinterest when playing it edit add mcarthur park to that (the first time ive heard it too), got to the bit where he sings about "someone left a cake out in the rain" bloody shtooopid
-
beautiful, not helping my Spector GAS at all, keep telling myself i cant justify buying a Rebop5 (not a patch on yours but still) but its not working, the satin finish looks luuuurvly what's the string spacing on these?
Indeed - I'm going to forward this thread to my dad and see if he takes the hint.
i think your avatar says it all really -
the fender and the epiphone (especially) have got big bodies compared to the ibanez so you may find that a little odd as the laklands are of the fender ilk. The SR range is know for being versatile and i can get a nice precisiony tone from just the neck pup on mine to jazzy to mellow etc. and like Bassasin said the necks are very slim and you may find that something else to get used to, but i find them fast as hell think they look nice too and just get better the further up the range you go guess i'm saying go for the ibby

hmm i'm in the market soon for a 5 and this might be a cheepish way of seeing how i get on rather than splashing out a grand on a bass i may not get on with and from the sound clip it does sound lovely, i generally prefer satin necks or oiled are the gloss ones really ok? -
find really hard to get booked round my way, we do get gigs and ones that repeat year on year but picking up new venues is hard, there are a couple of good venues but they book up really quick so its hard to get in the door

i have the magg evo ii 300 head and 4x10 cab and its plenty loud enough. I set the VU meter first with the gain dial so it peaks just on red, then press in the eq switch to activate the bass, mid bass, mid, mid high and high dials and then dial back the the gain as turning on the eq boosts the input signal and increasing the eq dials will increase the reading on the VU meter, i also have the bright and deep switches pressed in (on). I use an active bass but play it through the passive input as i find the cut too much playing through the active and i just handle the input signal with the gain dial. i have the compressor set to about 9 oclock and rarely use the sub harmonics. then set your master volume as desired

On your last gig, which number went down the best?
And I know Mustang Sally is irredeemably naff, but we do it last and get a load of pissed punters up on stage to sing it. The results can be err... entertaining
yeah same, we ask the ladies to come up and its generally a mess but goes down well -
every day is a school day i was always under the impression that as 2 cabs move more air than one they would be inherently louder and with the extra power more so
-
Is the only correct answer. Speaker size is only one factor in many that influence the how a cab sounds. Nah, you don't get a bigger sound from using more power, you get a bigger sound from using more cab. Try using 8 ohm cabs and 4 ohm variants of the same cab, the 4 ohm cab, although using more power, won't sound louder. Just more likely to overheat your amp! Furthermore, having an amp than is rated for lower impedance is okay, if you're into that carrying needless weight around thing . Myself, I prefer a powerful amp rated for higher impedance and cabs to match. The transformers are lighter, they generate less heat and so are smaller and lighter as a whole.
yeah i get that more cabs (speakers) is going to be louder but for mine and others amps adding another cab does give the full power of the amp, i wouldnt have just one cab that takes the amp to full power as that would close the option of adding another cab should you need to. So far i get enough volume for where i play with one cab
-
See, I'd dispute that as otherwise why have 2 cabs... ?
in some cases it is to get a lower impedence and get the full power from the amp, i know mine works that way

sex on fire obviously, Alive by Pearl Jam goes down rather well and I Predict a Riot. -
2band natural stingray 4 string, maple neck, bought it around '92 with my student loan (very sensible in those days me), it was the one with the mute kit, had to sell it a number of years later to a music shop for an obscenely low price to fund a new washing machine, would love it or one like it back

this is actually fighting my gas for a spector 5, and i like the tone of my sr500 so this can only be better right?
-
chronic Spector GAS has got me at the moment and i'm having an urge for a 5iver even though ive never played one. The Rebop on Thomann has got me as have a couple in the for sale section fortunately(un) i'm not flush right now and that one above from bass direct is just x-rated

Do you/your band rehearse with full gigging set-up?
lowhand_mike replied to Lozz196's topic in General Discussion
Lucky enough to rehearse in a large hall with stage, our gear is all stored there in a small room so we just set up on stage with pretty much everything except the PA cabs, meaning we can practice at gigging volume and we know our PA setup. We dont have practice gear to use so just use our gigging rigs. We rehearse every week as we dont get much time if any to practice at home so rehearsal time is precious. The only time we dont is if work/real life gets in the way or after doing a gig. -
For a UK band check out Xerath, they had a new album out at the end of last year also have a look at Shattered Skies theres been loads of non uk bands releasing stuff if you want that
