1. i found a solution with my effects with rubber feet. I cut a small strip of 6mm ply and stuck it on the bottom of the pedal and then put the velcro on to the ply. works for me and keeps the pedal in good nick if i wanna sell on. Rich
2.
I go for the intro to The Glass Prison by Dream Theater, uses all 5 strings, high and low frets, that 4th fret harmonic. Tends to be a good warm up for the hands as it uses all left hand fingers and involves some stretching for the right, as well as checking the bass out thoroughly fairly quickly. I also run this test on any bass I try in a shop, just to see how it does against the benchmark I have in my head.
cool, thats what i mean man, nice choice
3. we've been turning up an hour before start, setting up and pub is pretty busy and then quick 10 min chill then on, so when i mean practice i mean just to loosen up the fingers. just curious on how others do it, on like a non-professional pub band level Rich
4. Bit of a general question here, but when the pub is full of people and youre setting up you equipment what are your favourite warm up riffs you play when sound checking. I've only done a handful of gigs with my current band so limited experience and was just interested in what people do and play. tunes not in their set, scales? any favourite harmonic riffs to practice to while live audience in the midst? ta Rich
5. Its our second ever gig after putting on a respectable first attempt. First one was nervy but this time excitement has overtaken the nerves. we should be getting it all filmed HD so will post some stuff if it dont go too bad! We're a five piece cover band for now doing stuff from the The cure, Nirvana, Supergrass, Bowie, Feeder, Creedence, KoL, T-Rex, Audioslave, Kasabian, RHCP, The strokes plus many more, bit of hip hop too for good measure for the funky basslines! Nice mix of eras and styles and we throw in a couple of our own we been working on. well thats it, cant wait! Rich
6. hey no worries man, good luck with the sale. Rich
7. hey man, you still selling the 4x10? how much you want for it? Rich
8. just found search box. ignore me.
9. hey guys, looking to spend about £250 to £300. Really dont know too much about them and only played a couple. Need to sort something as band doing a few chilled accoustic sets and i'm loving the idea of having an accoustic lying around the house to pick up and mess around with. Any pointers of ones to avoid and things to look out for? cheers Rich
10. i'm assuming chris from muse uses a bass synth and other effects for hysteria, but how am i gonna get the fuzz like that on a budget of a single pedal? Sorry to hijack Rich
11. yeah good call, mammoth is only for passive basses too.
12. how about the woolly mammoth, bit pricey but keeps a nice warm low end through. tried one out a few weeks back but dont have to funds to buy one. it was real nice though. Rich
