1. welcome to bc
2. still available
3. close contender
4. I do, along with some drumming and some keys - the latter is what I really wish I'd be better at.
5. Minimark user here. Phantastic.
6.
I have an RBX775 and have previously had a BB614. They do make very good instruments, the playability and sound is there, but what I struggle to find in them is a little soul. All of their instruments have codenumbers instead of names, this for me can make them a little sterile in character. Of course there's plenty of other manufacturers doing the same thing, but I think Yamaha could do with giving their instruments some more inspiring names to help with the image. It's the same with a lot of Japanese sports bikes/cars... GT-R, 370Z, MX-5, YZF, CBR, GSR etc... all soulless.
It has to do with translating names. A name that works in English will not work in Japanese, might have to be represented by a Kanji (letter) that has connotations there which it doesn't here. Some car names ran into serious trouble over there for such reasons.
7. bump, make me an offer.
8. Just bought a Fender Jazz V 24 off Barnie, he's a top bloke. Thanks so much.
9. BTW I have a silver stingray OLP for sale, interested?
10. You are suffering from GAS. Most of us here are in the same position. But be warned: this might not be the best place to get rid of that addiction. Is like meeting your pals in the pub to discuss alcoholism. Good news is that most people do seem to arrive at some point of saturation - if not nirvana.
11. For sale is this gorgeous silver OLP MM3, 5 string, as new. For those who don't know, OLP manufactured these licensed from Ernie Ball MM, so the guitar is pretty exactly the same but passive. Bought here on the forum from a fellow BC'er a couple of weeks ago, since when I have rehearsed it a couple of times and it has given me the 5-string bug. It is extremely sensitive I find and has a wide range of sounds, though not the sound I'm after - I am not really a slapper nor d'n'b'er. Here is the original thread with images, though needless to say the silver looks way better "in the flesh" than on any photo. The bass lives in a flight case and is as new. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=122744&hl=mm3 The bass is in Coventry but I could meet in Leamington Spa as well. Looking for 180.- plus posting, without case.
12. Bienvenue. On est une commode petite commune ici, tu vais.
13.
Is it the same cab as this one? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=127267
Well the furniture in the background certainly is.

16. I did try the K&K of a friend which was great, easy to operate and cool for a live situation with the pre on the belt. Has very cool features on the box and trim pots inside it. Only issue is that the E string tends to be louder than the G as there is only one bridge pickup. Great for rockabilly with the fingerboard pickup for slap. I now have a realist and a shadow, which I blend in EBS microbass - phantastic range of sounds and the ability to cut certain freqs, but a lot of sound fiddling to get there. I love the mute switch. Then I go into Minimark, which is phantastic for a DB stage monitor with its 2x6". The only thing that really sounds crap now is the DB itself (cheap restored china bass with innovation nylon strings) - well but I have a unique sound! My m8 who lent me the K&K now only uses Fishman Pro Platinum which is truly phantastic for the ability to DI and EQ, and surely the most pro of choice.
17. Now come on people somebody buy this. (free bump for a great piece of kit)
18. Agree, it's not so much about the extra few notes but about the ability to play with less position changes. Only reason for four strings is: the weight of the instrument. I sometimes wonder if a four string tuned B-E-A-D would not make more sense than the traditional tunings. Changing from one to the other took me well what? a day or two?
19. Sound is very nice, warm, and clean. Originally bought for wash tub bass (bucketbass.com), then found out that it gives a very very sweet tone to passive PUP's like P-bass. Will be perfect also for acoustic bass guitars, and of course for double bass which is what it is designed for. I like the light enclosure which could be mounted on a belt for double bass performance, but I used to stick it under the handle of my combo where it sat firm. Only selling because I upgraded to EBS microbass. In perfect working condition. Asking for 30 quid plus shipping. 20. another twin neck
21. K&M they fold up small and are very stable, more so than the "hercules" adjusts to different guitars / basses so not conflicting with pots etc. very light this http://www.thomann.de/gb/km_17581_heli_schwarz.htm i have this http://www.thomann.de/gb/km_17580.htm version in which i happily stack two guitars.
22. Hi, can you post the weight and the inside dimensions? cheers!
23.
If the string does not hold pitch, you might have to consider some of the following - change strings? old strings, and crap strings, tend to "lose pitch" in this way. - change bridge? depending on your instrument, pitch can be more or less stable. - is it just the tuner? you must let your ears decide, after all. "Don't loose your cool or you won't be better than the machine" (Zoolander)
