A feeler to see if there's any interest as I'm only really interested in selling to buy the Acme B2s that are for sale on the forum. If they go, I'll be happy to keep it! Here's the official blurb: http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid...=427&cid=96 900watts at 4 ohms. Condition wise it's 9.9 out of 10, just some light scuffing to the carpet cover, otherwise it's mint. As most of you know, the Genz Benz stuff is made to a very high quality and this thing handles high volumes at low tuning with no farting or complaints. It really is a good cab and only long term GAS is tempting me to sell it. Price wise, it cost me £400 including travel to buy it I'm looking for £380 collected. I'll get some actual pics up tonight if possible. Cheers, Ben.

From recent experience, I think it's all about how many speakers you have. I've had a 1k head, 1k power amp, 500 watt LH500 all with 4x10s or 1x15s and non of them are as loud as the (say it quietly) Laney RB9 head (300watt @ 4ohm) i've been using while I find a decent power amp into my Genz Benz 6x10. It sounds massive and with my Sansamp at the front, sounds great too...Just my experience, but get a decent cab with loads of speakers in it!

Pre-Lullabies Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu or Clutch.

I met Josh Homme finally at a bar after their gig in Auckland last year. I think I managed "I've been waiting to shake your hand for years" or something equally as embarrassing. He spent the whole time eying up my girlfriend (she tried to steal his handkerchief too - failed). Troy did get our tickets signed by the band though, so not a complete disaster. Jessie "the Devil" Hughes tried it on with her too when we saw Eagles of Death Metal. She went back stage with her mate, just to see what all the fuss was about, and he spent about 15 minutes trying to convincer her to leave me and the car at the gig and go with them into town! Cheeky swine!

We're just starting out as a covers band so we're trying to see as many of our "competetors" to see what we're up against and everyone plays it (with varying degrees of skill and success!) but the crowds always love it - KoL are definately the band of the moment for 25-40 yr olds. In my opinion the 1st and 2nd albums were great, then they found a formula and released the same song 28 times over. We wont be playing it, we're trying to cover songs that most dont, trying to be an alternative option - we might get less work, but sod it, at least we'll enjoy the songs we play.

I sold mine not so long ago, I do miss the bottom end and they do indeed look cool as f*%k. I agree about the weight, long practices/gigs could put you out of action for a few days...

I've been listening to (and trying to mix) Dubsteb quite a bit recently, loaaaaaads of bottom end and plenty of groove which is my thing. Never seen anyone other than DJs playing it live, not sure how a band would work so I'd like to hear what you get recorded!

I've been to a fair few, some out in the sticks, some in Liverpool city centre. They're widely varied from venue to venue and then from night to night within them venues. My brother's band host a night in a local rock club/bar and the singer in that band does a "beginners" night too. The beginners night can be pretty dire, but everyone has to start somewhere and I used to go to this night quite frequently. Everyone's friendly and dont give a damn if you make a mistake - the songs are often decided pretty impromptu and you play from memory! The night the band hosts if a bit more "professional" - they play a few songs, then a guitarist might join them for a couple, someone takes over on bass for a few. Just rotating. Sometimes we'll be sat about talking about songs and we'll just decide to learn that for next week, so there's a bit more structure. Sometimes they're busy, sometimes empty. I think the strength of the night depends on the people who attend.

I find bassists that over play more frustrating.

Several Items for sale... Exeter

I've just started doing backing vocals for our covers band and it's one of the most frustrating things I've ever attempted! I've found though after being useless for a while, something just clicks with the rhythms and it gets much easier almost straight away. Playing the basslines until you dont need to think about them is the key, as mentioned above.

I've put my laptop up for sale, I'm going to buy a cheap desktop and a high spec tablet/ultra-portable laptop instead. It's ideal for recording, plenty of Ram and processing power, it's easily handled 10 simultaneous tracks with a few guitar rig/amplitube and other VST's running, and with the big screen, it's ideal for editing and mixing too! Not as portable as a smaller laptop, but much more portable than a desktop. Cheers, Ben.

My front end is a Sansamp BDDI (£100) and a "Warrior" 1k power amp (£60) into a Genz Benz 6x10 (£350) Granted, I havent used it in a gig situation yet, but it's not breaking sweat in our loud practices. I think power amps are much of a muchness and quite a few of the cheaper ones are just OEM'd versions of the expensive premium brands. You should be able to easily beat the LH1000.

What a great setup! Excuse my ignorance, but what's the Black bass in the pic above the pedal board? -
RATM & Renegades are their best albums imo. Awesome riffage, especially the main riff from Freedom, and halfway through Township Rebellion, yeah! Very satisfying to play along with.

100% on a couple of transactions for £30 boots and other cheap stuff...with just 8 ratings, I'd be wary at this price.

Jesus...You'd kill a grown man with that.

I've just had an hour with my new setup - Genz Benz 610T-XB2 Prolight 1k Power Amp Sansamp BDDI Squier Vintage Modified Precision and it's the best sounding amp I've owned. Massive amount of clean headroom from the amp, tight punchy bottom end from the cab and that SVT grind from the Sansamp. That from a setup that's cost me £520! So far, I couldnt recommend this route enough.

Thanks for the reply, we've got a full band, just want to add the strings or awkward samples for example. I think midi would be ok, we just need to find a decent soft synth so it doesnt sound like a karaoke CD!
