Hello! Couple of good mates and myself have decided to have a bash at the covers band thing. We're trying to be a little bit different than the averge effort, probably at the cost of some gigs, but we're hoping to maintain a semblance of what we perceive to be "musical integrity"... We're trying to decide between a keyboardist and/or backing tracks. Our drummer is comfortable playing along with click tracks but we're not sure what's exactly possible with backing tracks and how to trigger them etc. Could you in theory start a synth backing track, with the click in the drummers ear and play a whole 3-4 minute song with that running or do you have to be some sort of robot time keeper for it to work? Also, if it is possible, are there resources available (paid or free) where you can download just synth/keyboard/sample backing tracks or do you have to create them yourself? Thanks in advance! Ben.

Bought a Sansamp BDDI from Cliff. Very nice guy, prompt with PMs and the item was exactly as described, packed well and despatched the same day. Great transaction!

Very smooth and warm tone, well worth a bid.
Would you be interested in a part ex for a M-Audio Firewire 410? Cheers
That looks like a good downgrade, but I might have a problem with the unbalanced outputs. I was getting a lot of hum before I went to balanced cables through my active monitors so I'm afraid that would return with this unit. Can anyone shed any light? Ta, Ben.

Would the Behringer work as a pre-amp infront of a power amp? I've seen some reviews on Harmony Central that suggest it may have a weak output? EDIT: a quick google search brought this up: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry286956 so I'm sorted ta!

This unit will only handle 10 ins and outs (8 on the line/mic inputs and a further 2 on SPDIF) but you can daisy chain other saffire units to increase the count. Otherwise, I've no reason to believe that two firewire/usb interfaces cant be used at the same time on different busses. What do you want to record with more than 8 mics?! EDIT: I've just re-read my original post and it read as if the 10io had ADAT and not the 26io. It's the other way around! I've amended the 1st post.

Hello, I'm using Cubase SX3 at the moment. I was considering something else, maybe Sonar but I've not got around to trying anything out. I'm selling as we're not recording this many inputs at the moment and the guitarist wants an interface at his house, so we're swapping this for two 2-channel interfaces instead.

Hello, I did have this on ebay a week or so back but it was bought by a "0" feedback Belgian who hasnt managed to even respond yet (I'm having some terrible luck on ebay at the moment with dodgy buyers). So, back up for offer on here. Firewire interface with 8 mic preamps, very highly regarded as this review testifies: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec06/articles/saffire.htm (the 10 io is the same as the 26 io apart from the lack of ADAT connectivity) Rock solid on XP, not so solid on Vista (but who's recording using Vista?!) It's in excellent condition and has been used mostly in my bedroom and occassionally up at the practice space with my laptop. I've got both 4 and 6 pin firewire cables, the PSU, rack ears and software but the box went mouldy in the garage. £160 delivered or collection in Upton on the Wirral. Also consider a swap for a Zoom H2? Cheers, Ben.
No worries mate! It's cool! I'd posted on another thread about G.A.S - and have to say that on paper at least, Alex's cabs do tick a great deal of boxes. Quite like the idea of a monster 2x15 Big One ;o) As per our li'l discussion.. I have to agree with you that sometimes online shops don't do themselves any favours by putting one price online.. but when you order they are 'out of stock and you wont get another at the same price'. Just smacks of laziness or not being clear about a 'deal' price. Come one guys! - A website isnt difficult to keep updated! oh and there's another rant! lol - Webshops with gawd awwwwful websites. If I cant find what I am looking for in under 5 clicks.. I tend to go elsewhere! lol
I'm afraid I'll have to stick up for webshops on this one! Maintaining pricing across multiple brands (often from multiple distributors) is very time consuming and often confusing. I can see where music shops will suffer, exchange rates are changing daily and a few of our suppliers wont even give us a set price list, we have to call on the day we order which makes it very difficult to advertise a price. This is exaggerated with high ticket value, low turnover items. They may have bought said cab 3 months ago for £550 and after making the call to the distributor now to replace it, it may cost them £750 to buy in! I will concede that it's lazy not removing items/pricing for goods you dont have in stock and we always honour our advertised price (unless we're out to make a loss) but that's just good customer service.

Just a quick word of warning, I bought a VMP and while it looks and sounds great, it's just starting to fall apart on me after about 2 months. The tone/volume knobs dont fit and therefore try to fall off all the time and the jack socket has just worked itself loose which is giving me intermittent sound. They're easy fixes, but these little niggles can be frustrating. I'd suggest buying 2nd hand from a reliable and honest BCer! Ben.

Hello, I've stuck this on ebay as we dont need to record 8 mics at once at the moment and my mate wants an interface for his house to fiddle with our tracks on his own so we're downsizing to two smaller interfaces. £200 + postage for any Basschat members or see it here > http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:L:LCA:GB:1123 Cheers, Ben.

Hello, My guitarist bought one of these about 6 months ago and bought a BlackStar HT-DISTX the week after which made this dive back into it's box, never to be used again. It's literally been used for half a practice before he decided it wasnt for him. £69 in the shops, he wants £50 + say a fiver for delivery. Cheers, Ben
