Jakesbass, Jakesbass And Thrice Jakesbass
the hand of john curley replied to jakenewmanbass's topic in Tutors Available
Evening All, A feedback comment with a difference.... My band recently asked me to advertise their old Affinity Squire Jazz on this here forum as they'd had no luck themselves....to bloody idle!!! Got a message from Jake saying he had a friend whose young daughter was after just such a bass!..low an behold his friend and daughter came over from B'ham to sunny Leicester this very evening to pick it up.....one very happy 12 year old!...and another convert to the world of bass! thanks Jake - your a star, very good of you to have put us in touch....and that's why I love BC so much, top people, common interest and a genuine desire to help each other out. Take care regards Matt -

Ha Ha - Not really made from marzipan....least I dont think it is! Righto - selling this on behalf of my band....prior to me joining, the bass player didn't have a bass so they bough this affinity series Jazz Bass for him to use. No longer needed and taking up room in rehearsal studio ....so it's out!! Got some chips and scrapes as the pics show. The chip on the back of the bass just below the body contour is coming out as a blue colour in the photos...not sure why...maybe just because they are crappy Iphone pics....but as you can see this has taken the top layer of paint off but not gone through to the wood. The other dent on the front of the bass has gone through to the wood, but isn't that big! Still sounds and plays great - I know that a lot of the affinity series come in for some stick but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this one was. Certainly as a beginner / stand by / project bass - it would be perfect. Rehearsal room is in sunny Leicester....sorry....Lestoh! - You are welcome to come and inspect/play it if you want. If needs be I can post it out on 24 hour courier via work, this would be approx £20 if mainland UK. Looking at £75 without postage.... Thats it......Please give me a shout if you need any more info. Thanks Matt

Would be looking at the £175 mark if anyones interested. Very good nick, barely used .... drop me a PM is your interested. Cheers Matt EDIT** - Two quick pics taken with iphone - not the best but if you need any more detailes shots just let me know.
Mick along with Steve Jansen and Richard Barberi made very little from Japan; David Sylvian did very well taking most of the money and plaudits (as per Micks Biog) Lets be honest he has all but vanished from the music scene in the last 25 years. This is so sad as I grew up listening and trying to copy his style, I wonder if his former band mates will have rally round? Wal certainly sold a lot of fretless basses due to him. I have mixed feelings over this, on the one hand you want to help - but thousands of other sufferers get no financial help bar the NHS (and we know how bad that can be) the last I heard Mick had upped sticks abroad a few years back so no doubt the NHS will frown at that too.. So so sad...
Steve Jansen has put a message on his website stating that if anyone purchases one of his Prints he will donate the money to Mick. Nothing on Mr Sylvians site , although I guess thatsnot his style really and he'd be more likely to make direct contact with Mick rather than through the Internet? Bloody sad state of affairs all round though.....sh*tty disease of the highest order. Matt

Hi, Just got an email from the Mick Karn website....it would appear that he has been diagnosed with Cancer.....devastated....Mick was the reason I picked up Bass 20 odd years ago.....Life is truly a bitch... Matt
There's no rules. Plug them up in different combinations until you find the one that pleases your ear most. For me that would be: Guitar -> Digitech Bass Synth Wah, Boss ODB3, Amdek Chorus, trusty Boss TU12H -> Amp And I'd buy a pedal tuner with a mute function. Korg Pitchblack / Boss Tu-2/3. EDIT: If you're using the XBSW for anything other than the octave function, I'm going to come around to your house and beat you to death with it ;-)
Ha Ha Brilliant!!!!! Thanks for all the advice guys - going to link 'em all up now and see where I end up!!! Regards Matt -
Evening One and All, Not having been one for a great multitude of pedals in the past, I now find myself with a Boss ODB3, Digitech Bass Synth Wah, Amdek Chorus and my trusty Boss TU12H.....now this may be a totally stupid question.....but..is there any specific order they need to be in? I dont want to make a schoolboy error and mess up my lovely sound! Your advices would be much appreciated..... I thank you.....i'm off to sell my soul to the devil!! Cheers Matt

Good luck with the sale.
Cheers dude, Like I say it's a real bugger....i DO like it...i just always had my heart set on a Pbass with that Blk Blk Maple thing going on!!!!!! Fickle aren't I!!???
Hi I know its not black but would you be intereted in this? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=75413
Hi Dave, Many thanks for the interest, but I am reluctant to let this go at all , so in fairness it has to be the Black Black Maple combo!! again, many thanks Regards Matt
Originally mine, I got a friend to buy it from Bass Central and then he posted it over to me. It's a lovely bass and I'm genuinely shocked at how many times it seems to have changed hands. I'd actually take it back but I don't think you want my Sandberg PM4 in trade?
Hi Legion. It is indeed a lovely bass....Im still not convinced I actually want to move it on!!!! - Tradewise I'm really only looking at the precision thanks. Regards Matt
-
ooops - sorry guys, my bad on the price - Don't have any idea what it's worth though...guessing £800 ish??? really not sure - please feel free to PM if you think i'm way out on price and Ill reflect peoples opinions. As I said this is ONLY a feeler - I do love the sounds this thing produces....hand on heart, I'm not a huge fan of the colour...but that shouldn't really detract me from what is a terrific guitar. ohhhhh - what to do!!!!??? Thanks for the comments guys, hopefully this rectifies the thread - if not just let me know. regards Matt

Im potentially looking to trade this for a Precision...but my requirements are quite specific!!! Looking for Black body, black sp and maple neck....!!! ( yes Mr Beedster I should have bought the black beauty back !!!!!!) Anyone interested???? Maybe looking at a sale I really can't decide...if there is any interest PM me with any offers and i'll get back to you asap.
