Could you be more specific about the 'strange noises'?
As a wild shot in the dark, I'd guess the noises are "Strange popping and static noises". At least that's what the title of the thread says Sounds like a loose wire to me.

That's the rare "Streamette". Like a Corvette in shape, but instead of the usual slab body they're contoured like a Streamer. Nobody seems to quite know the history of these things: there's a story that Warwick made some neck-through Corvettes with contours and then cut the necks off, but this story is generally discredited - firstly because the strip is too narrow for this and secondly because why would they cut necks off perfectly good basses? The Warwick serial number tool always says that these are Vampyres - which just shows the limitations of an automatic look-up tool, even if it is officially endorsed by the manufacturer. Even German companies fail to keep complete records of their productions! It looks like a pretty good price.
Hi. I saw some good deals on Ebay and wanted to bid, and therefore I had to register. Now the problem is that I constantly keep getting errors that my contact number is incorrect, even though I have checked the ISD Code several times. I stay in London. Can someone tell me what ISD code I should use, and the no of digits Ebay wants my number to be? For the Primary Contact number, the example has 8 digits, which is a landline. I don't have a landline... Has anyone else had this problem? What does Ebay want of me??! Help please....
And most landlines don't have 8 digits either. I'd guess you want an 11 digit number, starting with 0. But who knows what ebay will demand!?
The connections are with me (Howard), Jim Cairnes, and Overwater, so I suggest it's a Howjiwatermercallit Custom Six.
Brilliant!
... Be interesting to see the street price of the Korean thumb...
From a quick glance it looks like the RRP is about 2/3rds the price of the German BO, and I'd guess the street prices will be similar. There's a German shop offering the Korean BO for 1400 euros, whereas Thomann have the German BO for about 2000 euros. Neither are in stock, fwiw.
Have I missed something? Have Warwick now outsourced all their production to the Far East, or are they running some sort of three-tier model range; Rockbass Korean std German std ....
Yes, that's basically it: three tiers of pricing. I think the spec of the Korean and German models is supposed to be comparable, but with the odd quirk like the Thumb BO being ovangkol if it's Korean, and bubinga (but not pommelé) if it's German. They just seem to be following the Fender MIA/MIJ/MIM/Squier business model.

It's now on its way to Chimike.
But what if one finds other people's personalities are a lot more interesting than one's own?
I get the impression that even some of the greatest bass players found other players more interesting. Read an interview with almost any bassist and you'll find them raving about Jamerson or Pastorius or whoever, as if they find those players much more interesting than themselves. I also think that even if you try hard to play like Zender (or any other particular favourite) you'll still end up sounding a lot like yourself. Which is no bad thing

Would you pay £7,489.85 for a pair of pup surrounds?
Oh silly me! I forgot that a noisy exhibition has the most ideal listening conditions for auditioning amplifiers.

Trying out amps in a huge hall with loads of other bassists I think would be fruitless !
Well, it would give an indicator of how the amp cuts through a crowd No, I concede, it is pointless! Just lets you show off your instrument. (Can I just point out that I was never planning to take a bass to the show. Honest! )
unfortunately when i started looking at for my first fretless i had a go on several rockbass' and they all had the same major problem. The ebonised finsh on the fingerboard doesnt give a realistic fretless tone. So you wont ever get the "fretless tone" you would hear on a record without putting an ebony or decent rosewood board on there. I was lucky and managed to get a fairly cheap German Warwick with an ebony board, so i recommend you try out a few fretless basses and once you know whats good look in the for sale section here. ...
Actually this is wrong: fretless Rockbasses have always had ebony fingerboards, just like German Warwicks. It may be poorer quality ebony (so more light brown streaks rather than pure black), but it's still ebony. It's one reason why Rockbasses are very good value for fretless players. (Unfortunately they are let down by poor body and neck woods, but that's just my personal opinion).
Life's too short to make enemies of one's friends. Send 'em a rough mix and only comment on their playing if they specifically ask you. Even then, keep it restrained, keep it positive and sandwich the criticism in between some praise. e.g. "Beppo's Les Paul looks gorgeous. Shame he plays it like a tw*t. Nice shoes, though".
This sounds like excellent advice, especially the "sandwich" tip.
Why would you want to do that? It's an exhibition.
If you want to try out some amps?
Funnily enough I was wondering the same thing this morning but found out if it's in the EU you won't have anything to pay. Might be worth just being aware that if you encounter any problems, your warranty is often only with the store you buy it from and if you need to exercise it, you may be looking at having to return it to Germany. Only a thought, but if it's only a little bit cheaper to buy from Thomann, I'd be tempted to get it from within the UK, if not locally.
+1. And you could even go to your local shop and ask if they can match the Thomann price, or at least get close. I've found the Thomann service to be excellent, but even so I'd rather buy locally (not least because of the convenience if anything goes wrong) and don't mind paying a bit extra for that.
Does anyone know if you can bring your own instrument?
I've heard that you can. But I don't have that directly from the organizers or anything.

No. I've bought a couple of instruments from Thomann and other Germany companies and never had to pay import taxes for them.

I'm surprised no-one else has posted one of these:

That seems reasonable. Although I'm not sure about this:
....It is not outwith the buyers abilities to make the claim directly to the courier ....
Is this correct? The last time I, as a recipient, tried complaining to a courier about a problem (the driver faked a signature and left the parcel in a public space without telling anyone ) they said that they could only accept claims from the sender, since it was only the sender they had a contract with. I'm clueless about the law; could someone more knowledgeable clarify this issue?
... Looks like the line from Clapham Junction - Olympia is out all w/e. ...
Not according to National Rail, it's not. On Saturday morning it looks fine. (Especially when you compare with next Saturday: nearly 2 hours to go from Croydon to Kensington ) On Sunday, yes, it seems to be shut til lunchtime.
