2. For me the best test is to bring my wife to the gig. She doesn't care at all about bass guitar and does not know who's playing. Feedback from my wife: Marcus Miller -> brilliant , cool, funky & stylish Jimmy Haslip -> complicated, not my cup of tea Stanley Clarke (double bass) -> too classic, wouldn't go back Victor Wooten (with Bela Fleck) -> boring Richard Bona -> magic ! It's about the music in the end. Stop being bass players when you go to the gig. Enjoy the music (whether it is over-slapped or not) and gather feedback from people who are not bass supremacists. Same apply to your gigs. Ciao!
3. I own the same model . Fantastic bass !!! Have a BUMP !
4. I bought TRBboy's RADIAL BASSBONE. Item received within 24 hours after payment. Pleasure to do business with. Highly recommended seller. Regards, Arnaud
5. It could be a damaged speaker. I had that once, when the moving piece is not aligned. It can create unwanted frictions and unwanted noises.
6. Grooving on bass makes girls shake their booty !!! Guitar solos don't
7. Nothing makes me happier than slapping on a set of new strings. I love slap. I use it moderately though...
8. I have a VT Bass and I find it really hard now to play without it. It's a great sounding preamp/speaker modeler. Makes my sound fat and musical. The only thing that bothers me slightly is the lack of DI, but I plug it into my radial DI and the sound simply awesome. I note that the Deluxe version has a DI, so no need for an extra piece of kit.
9. this bass tone is to die for ... I LIKE !
10. I have had numerous dealings with Thomann. They have always been good with me. I am sure if you speak to someone they will sort it for you. As for buying in the UK... 1) I ordered a an Ashdown Little Giant from Soundslive.co.uk. The head was out of order and didn't work when it arrived. I had to ship it back and get a refund. The chaps there were very nice and professional. But, it was a bummer to receive a new head that doesn't work :-(( 2) I never received my Markbass Traveler 102P from the (London) BASS CENTRE. They wouldn't give me a refund either and kept patronizing me over the phone... I went to my bank and disputed the transaction to obtain the refund. I got my refund in the end. I will never shop with them ever again.
11. Arggg, I owned the quatra valve, the 200 W version of this amp. I sold it for 400 Eur and I really feel this was the most stupid thing I ever did. THESE AMPS ARE GREAT !!!
12.
Lovely to see so many friends and friendly faces - loved TM Stevens, he alone was worth the price of admission
I totally agree. Seeing TM and chatting with him was great. What a fantastic genuine bloke.
13. my wife ! Groovy. Reliable. Good looking. Versatile. LOUD. ;-)
14. Just got my VT Bass yesterday ... I second the above... It's super fattening. It's like feeding kebab to your sound.
15. I own a JoeMeek VC3 , it's about half a rack (but no rackmount). It sounds REALLY old school. They sell on ebay between 70 - 100 GBP. No noise gate though.
16. I own a Fender Jazz deluxe US. The first mod I did was to replace the defective Fender active PUs and preamp , both with EMG. The result was great for slapping which I did a lot at the time. The I got tired of the super crystal clear tone after years of use. I never got a decent growl out of the bass. I sold the EMGs PUs , kept the EMG preamp and installed a pay of Seymour Duncan Antiquity II. I can still get a great slap tone, but I got back into Fender growl territory. I found EMG to be too clean, and love the dirt I got back with the Antiquity. Cheers, Arnaud
17. I am amazed.... then again, it's no more of a rip off than the load of infomercials broadcasted on US TV
18. I got myself a small gig trolley from warwick/rockbag some time ago. The wheels are pretty large and full of rubber. It lift my cab about 20 cm off the stage. I just prefer the sound when I leave the cab on the trolley. It stops all the rattle and boomy bass frequencies. Not sure I will ever go with the Gramma Pad as I don't see how this would isolate further than my trolley already does. Cheerio,
