1. A NEW SHALLAC ALBUM! Must it buy now!!
2. I'd recommend D'addario 45-100 pro-steels. They have a enough snap and thud to them without being stiff to work around quickly on the fret board IMO.
3. I tends to say six-be-ten, bey! Propah job!
4. Warwick have just released the Adjust-a-nut 2. It's pretty much the same as the original one but without the flimsy side bits.
5. That's a tricky one. Is he inexperienced, lazy or sketchy? I can't decide. Maybe a bit of each?
6. Oh my! He's got more bass gear than the average bass shop.
7. I reckon you should do the job. It's only for the summer, you'll have a nice stack of cash to spend on bass things. I really don't think you'd regret doing it. What are you reeeally gonna miss out on anyway? Perhaps your mates are a bit jealous that you've got this opportunity?
8. Nice!! I particularly like the look of the Rogue, but they're all stunning!
9. Hi Hadrien, welcome to bass chat. Cool pic, what bass are you playing there?
10. I've been listening to Melt-Banana (who are currently supporting Tool on their US tour). The bassist is Rika mm. www.myspace.com/azap
11. I'd like to see this thread turn into a poll once there's enough replies. Is anyone brave enough to do it without the fear that you might get told off for missing certain people out?
12. 1 Justin Chancellor - his use of higher notes on the neck and the way he uses effects. 2 Les Claypool - the grooves. 3 Jaco - the grooves, chops and harmonics. 4 Tom Jenkinson - a lot more than a bassist! 5 Rex Brown - fat sound, tight player, held down the low end perfectly in Pantera.
13. It might be worth looking into the Warwick Rockbass range. They're very good basses for the money.
14.
Depending on how accurate his intonation is that could be a dodgy method.
Why's that? Isn't the 12th fret harmonic basically a clearer tone of the open string?
15. I vote KSD 70's jazz. A great bass for the money.
16. sweet!! I'm quite tempted by the Ampeg V-4BH. Has anyone had a blast on one of these? Can you get that 'ampeg dirt' out of it?
17. Cheers guys. I wonder why he uses a volume pedal instead of the controls on the bass?
18. Buy one! They sound amazing, really versatile and phat as hell! All things considered, they're pretty cheap too.
19. Does anyone know what setup Nick Oliveri used on Songs for the Deaf? I want that tone! I read somewhere that he used a 70's ampeg amp, I've only ever seen him using 8x10's of some kind, and 99% of the time he's got an old P-Bass in his hands. That's all I know! Can anyone fill me in on a little more info? Cheers Ed EDIT: One other thing, what tuning is he in on that album? Some form of drop C isn't it?
20. I've witnessed an Ashdown 2x15 (which is in an 8x10 casing) get put on the back seats of a Corsa and fit perfectly.
21.
DO NOT EAT
haha! I love it how it says that on silica packets! Since when does anyone un-package their new bass and think that it's a good idea to eat any of the contents inside?
22. what brand of patch cables have you got on your board Tayste?
23. That black and maple precision is pure filth!
24. All my basses are tuned to D#G#C#F#, except for my Thumb which is tuned to CGCF, which is a pain in the ass getting the low C to sound good.
25. I'm no Fender expert, but 37 bids (and counting), user ID kept private and a current price of £1500 seems a little odd to me! £1500 is a lot of money for this bass, right??
