1. it'll all end up being a bassists 1st rig. instead of the usual of starting off with a low powered combo for a 1st rig and moving up to more powerful ones as has been the case in the past. Now you can pick up a 600w+ big rig for starter money, then instead of moving up in power, a player will move up in terms of quality and weight (lack of)
2. thats a steal! if only i was closer
3. that reminds me of the strawberry flavoured roses chocolates. love the neck, although as a thru-neck user, i can't help but feel the long neck pocket would get on my wick.
4. i've had the older version (2 1x10 cabs) since i started playing bass and ive always loved it. much preferred the tone of it rather than my gig rig mag600. still use it daily 5ish years on as my practice amp, has never let me down.
5. no-one fancy doing one of these up in the north(east)?
6. i went through loads of horrible leads until i found my nice fender tweed cable in the bargain bucket in guitar guitar, love it. no more tangled up cables and its lasted for about 3 years now whereas other crappy cables i had lasted for about 2 months.
7. my 6th form common room is full of these small tables, i think they cost either £8 or £4, perfect 19" rack size. would work well for a studio setup. i think this is them, http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40104270 [/threadjack]
8. sounds interesting, we all know about the cheap ikea amp racks right?
9. ahh wow that seem pretty good. just watched a few demos (guitar though) nd it sounds pretty good. alot cheaper than a standalone headphone amp too. this may go on my to buy list.
10.
A couple of guitarists I know swopped recently to bass and informed me that they were now bassplayers. My reply was "No... you are bass OWNERS!!" You never see someone that's gone from guitar to bass play with their fingers do you? It's always a pick.
seen a few try... but they always seem awkward doing it.
11. whenever anyone has talked to me about it, ive always said pretty much the same thing. Bass is easier to get used to and play a few songs, but it is alot harder to become a great bassist than it is to be a great guitarist.
12. been on a karma to burn kick for a while now, also sublime
13. i don't like you. for the last 4 years i've had A bass. humph
14. bump! i need to free up some space!
15. ive seen a few ashdown mag series cabs going for about £75, probably the best quality/price ratio you're gona get.
16.
However they also did a a 2x15 reflex cab at the same time (MkIII-MkIV era) that was even more awesome. It was massive, and the bass it threw out was
Like the one I have in the for sale section? /shameless salesmanship
17. glad to see you're all sorted. i don't get that amp though... its 2 12ax7s for the pre and 2 12ax7s and 212au7s as "driver tubes".... what is the difference between driver tubes and preamp tunes if their going into a solid state power section?
18. i wish i could say that i've got unjustified gas... but my gas is completely justified. ive been playing for about 5 years now, the first one and a half years was with a horrible stagg goth wonabe bass (in parts now) and an ashdown mini rig. then i moved up to a washburn force 4 with an ashdown mag600 stack..... there ive stayed for the last 3 and a half years. i have major gas right now, sold my amp a few days ago and am now buying a TB. I'm at the point now where i find it hard to play anything other than my washburn, it doesnt feel right.... well i say that but i think in the whole time ive had it, ive only played 2 other basses for a few minutes each. one was a horrible encore precision at school about 2 years ago and the other was a beautiful looking aerodyne jazz a couple of weeks ago to test out a TB. Neither of them hit it off with me, i'm just not used to anything but my usual washburn pickup thumb rest and anorexic neck. i think i'll end up getting a decent squire precision at some point, but at the moment amps are more important to me.
19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6iqwo828es rounds really nice
20. has to be one of the coolest setups ever... have to admit that the LM3 placed like that scares me though
21. i had exactly the same experience a couple of years ago. had a 600w ashdown 210 115 rig, never really knocked me off my feet. then i played a gig in a small pub called the angel (love the place) where a small trace combo was provided. Felt like i had all of the power i would ever need and could cut through like a hot knife through butter. sorry, no help.. never solved it. i just put it down to trace elliot awesomeness. just sold the ashdown rig and gona get a terror bass, see of that has an effect.
22. if the amp sale for any reason falls through, gimme a haller and i'll have it off you
23. there are some good reviews on harmony central, sounds good. what woyld you be wanting for the cab alone?... if you'd split.
24. Yeah I'd be interested in the 4x8, how does it compare volume wise to other cabs?
25. some i agree with. i've knows people use line 6 guitar amps which sound awful and digital is the perfect wort to explain the sound, they sound too abrupt... much like a cheap distortion pedal. however i know that a good digital model can sound every bit as good as the real thing, i've worked with a few vst models and even a few bog standard garageband models which i would never be able to tell from the real deal. its all about quality of equipment.
