1. Another +1 for me. Had his TC Nova Dynamics off him just before Christmas & despite snow & ice it arrived safely & quickly Pleasure to do business with
 2. I keep getting "why bother" moods more regularly recently down to me & the drummer doing all the bookings and advertising and gigging less last year than in the previous couple, but I get really twitchy when we're not gigging and can't wait to get back to it. Drummer has another funky functions type band now, and I have the part time proggy band, but for both of us the band we are in together takes precedence. He can very easily drop into Ian Paisley "NO / NEVER!" mode as in

We've been asked to do a friends/"fans" birthday - NO you can find another drummer if you want to do it
Guitarist is ill shall we do it with the one guitarist? - NO
- which can be tiresome but there is no point pushing once we hit that. I can understand some of the sentiment behind that as in "will grandma & auntie Dollie really like what we do" and wanting to put on the full show not half of it and busking through (but would anyone really know). Big old gap to the next gig now so by the end of Jan I shall be going mad
 3.
Excellent. Well Barney, you were my inspiration to create something for the bigger bass player. I've done some tees that are only in 3XL/4XL/5XL/6XL with a new design graphic to suit. I'll post a picture up on a separate thread shortly. Phil

You're a star Phil, put me at the top of the list, shame the Basschat tees dont come in larger sizes, hint hint!
Liking the look of these. Added to my pressie list for ma & pa as normally I cannot think of anything except "money towards the latest GAS"
 4.
Hey, was you in the Friary,Guildford today? Either that or your evil twin....mwahahah!
Yes. Sorry a quick double take & I was off. Late from lunch as ever
 5. Most strange. Just caught the end of this on Sky Arts and at the end of "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band / The End" there were three guitarists onstage (Macca included) trading solo's, a bass line clearly playing, and no bass player in sight!?
 6. BU99ER. It wasn't as #1 guitarist came over funny before the second set, but soldiered on. Got a text this morning to say he had a temperature and was being vioently ill so after much discussion it's been cancelled. So last night was it for this year
 7. Not a bad night on the first of the last two for this year. Five new songs in the set(s) all of which went pretty well - though I played the opener better in the sound check (forgot a bit but noone woulkd have realised as its a song by a virtually unknown Norwegian band). Turned up first wrapped in numerous layers & carrying a thermos mug of coffee to a cheer, and "Oh good you are going to make it tonight, I'll text all the people who've been asking". Good crowd that seemed to enjoy themselves, and we got to play over time somewhat which was a bit if a twin edged sword. Did WPOD, which we haven't done for a while and all going swimmingly until it got to ending (basically the "Love's a Mystery" bit from the Overture section of "Remote Control") and the massive finale disintegrated quite spectacularly Hey ho, there's always tonight. Onwards to tonight and the last for 2010. Set to be a long one as usual I think, and in a venue that has just been refurbed from a cosy pub stylee to eye searing white apparently. Need to get some kip, but I'm just not tired at the mo. It'll hit me bad on Sunday I'm sure
 8.
Its funny how perspective is, Rich. I read most of this thread as looking down the nose at 4-stringers like me!
and vice versa
As you rightly intimate, different strokes for different folks
Well quite. Used a 4 for most of my playing life and only moved to 5's recently, but at the end of the day they are only instruments and it's horses for courses. I'd happily still use the 4, but it's now semi retired and the low B helps with changing of keys to suit vocals. To get so worked up about it seems a bit silly and there are a lot of unsubstantiatable generalisations flying around on both sides. Now, to double the reasons for my qualifying as a sh1t player, where's me plectrum
 9. I have to admit the first time I used mine at a gig I took it out from under the rig in the break as the bass disappeared, but I persevered and made some level changes and wouldn't be without it now for the lack of boom particularly on high/boxy stages. Whilst castors might help I would have thought a pad would still be better as in most instances the castor is still a more solid affair that will connect with a boomy stage where the pad creates the break - at least that's the way I understood the pads to work
 10.
OBBM's Phil Jones combo
How bonkers was that!! It'd certainly make the head or heart decision on cars that I have to make a doddle
 11.
4 for me is enough.
Was for me for a loooooooooooong time, but getting the 5 was great - so good I got the 5 fretless as well
My experience of users who use more than 4 is that they spend their time noodling on the treble side above the 12th fret; if your gonna do that play guitar? Which is what I do.
Are you sure!! Some possibly, but for me it's a 4 with the option to get lower. Bother the dusty end? I think not
 12.
How much did we raise?
I'll leave it to the organisers to say, but it was a very pleasing amount for a great bass day out and a nice tribute to OldGit

 14.

Aaaaaah....my babies. Good day as ever chaps and good to meet up with everyone again. Hope my gently snoring in s1m0n's talk didn't put anyone off.....not I hasten to add because it was boring, far from it, I was just starting to feel my age & the previous nights gig!!! Thanks to all who arranged it again. A good day. And finally thanks to Colin for wandering round with me at the end of the day ringing my phone, and everyone for not running it over in the carpark where we eventually found it. DO'H!
 15. How was my gig last night? A bit of a 'mare on my part, certainly the first set when I played like a complete & utter lady's front bottom Crowd enjoyed the night as a whole and the second set was much better, but boy was I having troubles in the first. I suppose 'cos the r/h last week went really well, I was loose, but tight with the drummer (if you know what I mean) and got all the fills & fiddly bits right. Tonight (IMV of my performance) OMFG - as da yoof have it. Basses sounded really nice where I was, which was a plus. Ah well. Shower, pit & SEBB tomorrow bright & early, so something to look forward to
 16.
Black label, no scratches, no velcro but also no true-bypass and no box. I also have a true-bypass version to trade for EHX Micro POG.
Pics? PM'd
 17. That's a nice looking bass from the shot in the OP. Can't seem to get the others to load sadly. But do I really need another bass!?

No box but will be well packaged. Would Trade for EBS Unichorus in similar condition or Boss ME 20 B or Boss Ce2 ....or 80 pounds cash inc p@p. Pics to Follow!
How about a Boss CE20? Got one in my case that does not come out since I picked up a Unichorus & keep thinking of possibly moving it on
 21.
Wow! Really like the first track, but then I've always been a big Police fan and it's stylistically similar. Great playing! Maniac is indeed a great cover as Paul pointed out! Top stuff!
Cheers. Yup that was out Police era. Maniac is actually a cover of a cover. We cribbed the version by a Norwegian band called Street Legal, and it got suggested by the vocalist. I think if I had gone in and said "hey guys how about doing Maniac from Footloose?" I would have been laughed out of the r/h room
 22. May have put this up elsewhere, but anyway Early - around late 70's we reckon I'm Always With You - a rather busy Shergold Marathon Fretless Last Friday night - Maniac
 23.
I'm in an experimental/Gothic duo: guitar (miked amp), bass, 2 x vox and backing track (run from an iPod on stage) and we really need to go to in-ear monitoring due to generally bad monitors in most of the venues we play! We don't jump around (!) so wired IEMs will work fine. We could just split the iPod output and send the track to the DI/FOH and a 2 channel headphone amp of some kind (on stage and in between us). Obviously we'd only have the backing track in the IEMs, so we'd still need to rely on house monitors for vox etc... Not ideal. My question is: how can we get everything in our IEMs using a - fairly - simple setup? (Would the bass feed and guitar mic signal have to go into a mixer before going to the FOH? Is there a mixer out there that can send the bass feed, guitar mic signal and backing track to the FOH and give us separate IEM mixes? Am I dreaming? )
Bit expensive, but you could look at Aviom. We use it so vereything goes into the stage box which feeds individual mixers - so we can each set our own mix of whatever is going into the stage box. Once it's in the stage box everything basically goes digital and runs on CAT5 cables either to our submixers (which convert back to feed the IEM's) or the FOH mixer, where it goes through a DAC into the desk (I think, not involved in that end)
 24. Not a bad night. Back at a gig that has messed us about for the whole of last year, cancelling, blah di blah. Turn up thinking "We'll do this one out of five for the whole year then screw it & screw them". Last time I spoke to matey he said "I'm sorting out gigs for next year at the weekend" & I thought "I could give a flying #### cos I don't care if we don't go back", So what's the first thinghe does? Comes up at the start of the evening with next years diaries & a few dates already pencilled in. So anyway, the gig. Been working on some new songs. Did one at last weeks gig and thought we'd chuck in one of the two Hendrix numbers as they're relatively easy & loose to play. Ran through another we had worked out in one key - but then changed at the last r/h when #2 guitarist couldn't make it so had dumped a retuned version in the band dropbox - for a quick soundcheck, and left it as perhaps we'll risk it as an encore. Got to the end and went "ah bollox let's just go for it" and here it is in all it's glory? Alibi Live. Recorded ith the Roland R05 at the desk and quickly chopped up before I head for my pit. D'you know I quite enjoyed it having been a tad uncertain about it. Still got to the end of the night. Good gig. Chatting to loads of people after all of whom were most complimentary and generally seemed to reckon it was the busiest night in the pub for a while.
 25.
EBS Ocatbass, Boss hardcase for 3 pedals and Roland power supply (will power 3 pedals!) still here! £80 see them gone! Great price! Open to trades. Russ.
PM'd. Shame the case won't take the microbass as well, but there's always the tuner
