1. I'd love to, but I am not sure my hand'll be quite up to it & anyway our vocalist block n/a'd every bank holiday weeked this year
  2.

Something wrong with your camera Nik. It completely missed the chest wig & medallion
  3. Street Legal - Bite The Bullet Bit of Norwegian rock mentioned elsewhere in the eMusic thread. Lizzy, Whitesnake, Blue Murder, in that ilk
  4.
Hello Jim, One last point. IEM's take a bit of getting used to and they don't suit everyone. It might be a good idea to rent/ borrow a system before you buy- about £40 per day from us or pretty much any decent PA company- to see if you like.
A big +1 to try before you buy. It is a different way to go. The #2 guitarist in my band & I love it. Drummer & #1 guitarist hate it & still use small monitors. Make sure the phones can handle bass and sit & stay in your ear. I've ended up with the Christmas tree type tunnel fits on the Shure's I use as all the others tended to work slightly lose, at which point the bass disappears. Also try with both plugs in & 1 in / 1 out. I tend to the latter to stop feeling too isolated
  5.
Rotosound Solo Bass. Been on my Wal for 23 years and no damage to the ebony fretboard. They are groundwounds
That's good to know having put a set of the Hartke rounds I had on the newly acquired L2500 with an ebony board and got a sucking of teeth from someone I mentioned it to
  6.
I'm just looking at eBay, dear -
....and BC For Sale - OOPS! Good lord no wonder I had to have that wrist replaced
  7. Looks like he'll be getting Dot on the case shortly - Winning bid: £21
  8.
cant download these ?
Looks like they were removed due to unknown provenance and therefore whether any licensing problems might arise
  9.
You've got a nice pair, Nik. Where DID you get those lovely RBV's?
F'NAR F'NAR They are indeed. A bass I lusted after, sadly as much for the sig as anything at that time, and the one with the extras has a great range of tones

    Alibi in 2010
Hey dude Have seen the Alibi down Cheers a few times. I'm playing the Swan tonight and the Fountain very soon. What was it like down the Fountain now its changed hands? Hopefully its all ok. By the way, i play in Raw Edge www.rawedgeband.co.uk Rock n Roll!
Fountain was shaky for a couple of gigs - money being changed without notice - but words were spoken and last time we were there it all went well. Swan was a bit of a let down last time. Cheers this Friday, though with Damien from Long Way standing in for me after the op on my hand last week. I shall probably go along anyway to see how it should be done
  11.
ive already got one of those mate. question is could i take the tuning i use now over to a 5string?

It would be a bit pointless having a 5 string if you're going to drop the Eb to a Db or a C#, you might as well keep the 4 string tuning you have already as you'd probably never touch the B. You can always try it out, whatever works for you.
I'd tend to agree. particularly if you already have the Bass Xtender. The low B (Bb detuned) only gives you an extra 3 frets so all you'd be saving is flicking down and back up again - which I always thought was pretty cool, and a laugh confusing anyone watching once you've mastered making the switch surreptitiously with your thumb
  12. 'Twas a good afternoon indeed - even if I did immediately go home and buy something new for the collection I seem to have got away with it so far, but I expect it has all just been stored for future grief by MrsW Briefly fired up the ancient Marshall Superbass through the Triad and it still sounded good. Bit of a Triggers Broom having been overhauled & re-valved a few years back, but if it wasn't so damn heavy I think I might still gig it, even though it dates from 67 according to the amp man. Much fun with the chest wigs on the Spector, and perming some from many in Nik's rig - like the search for the lost chord, or the ultimate sound which seemed to entail purchase of a bigger car in the end
  13. If you are already detuning a semitone and want to stick with a 4 string then give thought to a Hipshop Bass Xtender. You'll just be flicking down & up the extra tone to Db/C#. I did that for years with the Wal and it is a great bit of kit that only gave me a problem when I moved to a 5 because I had learnt songs using the Xtender changing down and up during the songs, where you have obviously got used to the shifted positions on the E - not helped by taking the new 5 string toy straight to a gig and then struggling with the changed positions (noone to blame but me there )

    Schnozzalee

Just had the fretless L2500 off Oli. Pleasure to do business with. Good comms and fast well packaged delivery. Cheers, Al
  15. I bought this from Flippyfloop a couple of months back - pictures from his original thread HERE. It's a great bass to get started with fretless, and indeed further. Has mwah. Nice slim, fast neck and in great condition. I am now selling as I have just done a deal with Schnozzalee for his L2500 so the Peavey is surplus to my requirements. I bought a Protection Racket case to keep it in and also a set of Rotosound Flats that I have not yet put on. Looking for £200 for the lot delivered. Not really interested in trades, at least certainly not for another bass (I'm going to get enough cr@p when the L2500 arrives in the next couple of days ) If you're not interested in the flats then £170 again delivered EDIT - Now sold off forum, pending payment /EDIT
  16. Almost certainly, just not quite sure where in my tip. I'll see what I can do if I find it
  17. The count is creeping up slowly, but I know what you mean. My old Wal was all I had or needed for around 20 years - and then I joined BC, but I've had that mutter elsewhere Still only take one bass to a gig with my main band - partly for space reasons at a lot of them - but I shall be taking all three to the part time proggy gig
  18.
Can't think of a better backup to compliment a red fretted G&L L2500 than a fretless green and ebony of the same model . All the finishes on the USA's are so varied!! Would be keen to see piccies
Piccies to follow, PM sent
  19. Went from (most recently) Trace 122H combo (2x10) to the Markbass 121H combo and would heartily recommend the move. Light, plenty loud enough (on its own with the PA or with the Epifani 12) and sounds great.
  20.
Hi Rob and welcome
Indeed. I saw Rob at an MU workshop years ago and chatted at music shows after. Thoroughly nice bloke.
  21.
Damn, i keep opening this thread without remembering its a fretless.
So do I, but I still have a hankering for this, which would give me red & green L2500's. They are such great basses and do sound so good. Now then, a few weeks working from home and saving £70 diesel a week...........hmmmmmmmm
  22.
I've never checked my dangle angle. What's the optimum dangle angle? Any books on the subject of the dangle angle? Sorry, this phrase is my new love.
Some general definitions HERE In re basses I'll try to draw it tonight
  23. When I was having problems with my left shoulder a few years back (before the metal was put in) and when I was only using my Wal I got a Slider Strap which helped enormously. I've said it in similar posts before, but they do change the angle of dangle of the bass, which takes a bit of getting used to, and as both the Slider Strap and the similar one mentioned above are just webbing that can bunch up it is worth spending a couple of squid in Halfords to get a set of padded seatbelt restraints to add. That said as a way of continuing to use your basses they are well worth a try before starting the endless GAS round to find a lighter bass
