'Twas a good afternoon indeed - even if I did immediately go home and buy something new for the collection I seem to have got away with it so far, but I expect it has all just been stored for future grief by MrsW Briefly fired up the ancient Marshall Superbass through the Triad and it still sounded good. Bit of a Triggers Broom having been overhauled & re-valved a few years back, but if it wasn't so damn heavy I think I might still gig it, even though it dates from 67 according to the amp man. Much fun with the chest wigs on the Spector, and perming some from many in Nik's rig - like the search for the lost chord, or the ultimate sound which seemed to entail purchase of a bigger car in the end

If you are already detuning a semitone and want to stick with a 4 string then give thought to a Hipshop Bass Xtender. You'll just be flicking down & up the extra tone to Db/C#. I did that for years with the Wal and it is a great bit of kit that only gave me a problem when I moved to a 5 because I had learnt songs using the Xtender changing down and up during the songs, where you have obviously got used to the shifted positions on the E - not helped by taking the new 5 string toy straight to a gig and then struggling with the changed positions (noone to blame but me there )

Just had the fretless L2500 off Oli. Pleasure to do business with. Good comms and fast well packaged delivery. Cheers, Al

I bought this from Flippyfloop a couple of months back - pictures from his original thread HERE. It's a great bass to get started with fretless, and indeed further. Has mwah. Nice slim, fast neck and in great condition. I am now selling as I have just done a deal with Schnozzalee for his L2500 so the Peavey is surplus to my requirements. I bought a Protection Racket case to keep it in and also a set of Rotosound Flats that I have not yet put on. Looking for £200 for the lot delivered. Not really interested in trades, at least certainly not for another bass (I'm going to get enough cr@p when the L2500 arrives in the next couple of days ) If you're not interested in the flats then £170 again delivered EDIT - Now sold off forum, pending payment /EDIT

Anyone have the Supergrass article from Bass Player?
WalMan replied to umcoo's topic in General Discussion
Almost certainly, just not quite sure where in my tip. I'll see what I can do if I find it -
The count is creeping up slowly, but I know what you mean. My old Wal was all I had or needed for around 20 years - and then I joined BC, but I've had that mutter elsewhere Still only take one bass to a gig with my main band - partly for space reasons at a lot of them - but I shall be taking all three to the part time proggy gig
Can't think of a better backup to compliment a red fretted G&L L2500 than a fretless green and ebony of the same model . All the finishes on the USA's are so varied!! Would be keen to see piccies
Piccies to follow, PM sent

Went from (most recently) Trace 122H combo (2x10) to the Markbass 121H combo and would heartily recommend the move. Light, plenty loud enough (on its own with the PA or with the Epifani 12) and sounds great.
Hi Rob and welcome
Indeed. I saw Rob at an MU workshop years ago and chatted at music shows after. Thoroughly nice bloke.
Damn, i keep opening this thread without remembering its a fretless.
So do I, but I still have a hankering for this, which would give me red & green L2500's. They are such great basses and do sound so good. Now then, a few weeks working from home and saving £70 diesel a week...........hmmmmmmmm
I've never checked my dangle angle. What's the optimum dangle angle? Any books on the subject of the dangle angle? Sorry, this phrase is my new love.
Some general definitions HERE In re basses I'll try to draw it tonight

When I was having problems with my left shoulder a few years back (before the metal was put in) and when I was only using my Wal I got a Slider Strap which helped enormously. I've said it in similar posts before, but they do change the angle of dangle of the bass, which takes a bit of getting used to, and as both the Slider Strap and the similar one mentioned above are just webbing that can bunch up it is worth spending a couple of squid in Halfords to get a set of padded seatbelt restraints to add. That said as a way of continuing to use your basses they are well worth a try before starting the endless GAS round to find a lighter bass

I would definitely speak to MB, or indeed any manufacturer in such an instance. Had a couple of problems with my BassPod xT Pro, both out of warranty. Got a return no, shipped it back and received it back repaired both times with no charge. Now I suppose its possible that the bits were chips or boards that were a straight unplug old / plug in new, but all the same I was impressed with the service. The guys from MB always seem pleasant when I have met them so perhaps worth a call to your local repair man to say "hang on a mo 'til I hear back from MB"

Kaipa - currently Angling Feelings, but all the albums on my MP3, to be followed by RPWL to try and calm me down

The way I feel at the moment.............right now EDIT: I should add for me, not you! P155ED off after being dicked around by a gig. I'll get over it with a good one tonight hopefully!
My cab is not carpeted so the Markbass wedge is a no goer :0(
You could always get some sticky backed velcro and stick that to the bottom if the cab. That or get a combo stand like THIS or perhaps THIS
I'm thinking about tilting my 1212 schroeder cab by using a wedge. Wanted to know if anyone has experience with one of these or where to buy one. I notice Markbass do one. Suggestions?
I got a Markbass stand for my combo but never really got on with it. I always had the feeling that the bass disappeared when using it

A badump for the Swan in Woolston on 16 April. Hope it goes as well as the Fountain last Saturday!! Then two weeks to #2 op

So a long but fruitful day all in all. Started at 10 with a 4 hour r/h with the new part time prog covers band. A bit difficult as the keyboard player texted around 9 to say he had work to do on the house so would not make it Still fought our way through the set for the gig planned for June. It'd be nice to manage a full r/h before that, but I am causing trouble by being out of action for 4+ weeks from 29 April which doesn't help things. Got home & found that I had won a bit on the National - well one of MrsW's selections had come it so we were in net profit. Not sure how but I ended up out of pocket as she expected me to hand over the winnings, despite having kindly allowed me to put up the original stake. Then on to this evenings gig @ The Fountain in Chichester. Always one of our favourites and it didn't let us down tonight. Got noisy crowd & lots of adj after with the possibility of some new dates elsewhere, which in a rather thin year will be nice. Pretty tight through most of the sets, even the three new old ones resurrected with two guitars instead of guitar & keys. The Aerosmith ones worked well in particular. The Whitesnake one marginally less so, but good for having been knocked up in a quiet sound check. Having felt the sound was only OK at r/h (through the EBS Microbass II into an old TE combo and possibly affected by the ear plugs I was using) the L2500 was sounding particularly fine at the gig. This is what they want!! Swan Woolston next Friday then another gap (for me at least) until June. The Alibi have two May gigs that are to be covered by a dep, I fear I may be about to be dicked around by one of those who left a message for me to call on last Thursday, and hasn't been available to talk since
Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm overwhelmed by the number of replies to this within just a few hours! I guess it's now just a case of waiting to see what, if anything, the seller says. Hopefully push won't come to shove with this!
You say you really like the sound & fancied the LED's, and he has offered a contribution or full refund, so while things may not be quite as expected if you can agree a reasonable contribution it looks fair enough to me - but what do I know. I would always factor in a £30-50 setup on an ebay purchase so if you can agree a fair sharing of the extra go for it. Sounds like taking out the LED cost it cost you around £400. Is that reasonable for a Warwick, I don't know but it sounds it? Then again as before, what do I know

No Frills - Nik Kershaw A man, a guitar, a looper occasionally, and his songs stripped bare and an enjoyable listen that works well in the pared down version IMO
But actually ending up doing more harm than good in the long run. Every case is different. Like I said before I was sure I had carpel tunnel but I don't . I can only play bass for a small amount of time, maybe two three songs on a shortscale before feeling the effects. I can't even make it to the chorus on daytripper before feeling 'the burn' on a 34"
What sort of symptons? In the run up to getting my shoulder replaced around 5 years backI was finding that with a normal strap my left arm was going numb after a few songs. That was all down to weight on my knackered shoulder transferring down my arm. As a stop gap a Slider strap that distributed the weight of the bass better across both shoulders and my back.
Walman What did you think of the power ball?? Did it do you any good? I tried it but I would suffer big style afterwards. Like you I mentioned it to phsyio's and an occupational therapist and got a blank 'what you talking about' look.
Haven't really got into it yet. The consultant & physio both had no problems with it - mind they possibly did not realise how much strain it can exert once it gets going. The weird thing is I can get it running in my right hand and keep it going, and also move it to my left hand and keep it running, but getting started with the left hand I just cannot do. Used it properly(ish) for the first time last night and could feel the strain after. I think it will be a case of little & often, particularly after the pinkie knuckle & intermediate tendons are done at the end of this month to see how that helps build up grip. But just in gentle stages, not the mad "I can hit 20k" YouTube clips

I suspect it was posted in good faith and £5 is not a huge amount for something that might give some help.........but I would want to go the doctor route as well to make sure there was not something nasty underlying the pain (which after all is your body telling you it's not happy about something) As an RA sufferer who is slowly becoming bionic (left shoulder, right wrist and knuckles replaced and to be done shortly) drugs (prescription) and the knife have made my life, and playing, a whole lot easier, but I know that some of those drugs are pretty toxic and have to be watched. My parents have a friend who was crippled with RA and a visit to a dietician and change of diet has completely turned things around for her and she is off all the RA drugs now. Yet when I went on the local NHS surviving RA course one of the things they said was "diet makes no difference". I tend to differ with that slightly from the foregoing tale, and the fact that I know that orange juice plays havoc with my joints. I picked up a Powerball around the time my wrist was done in February, but didn't think about using it until I had spoken to the physio and consultant - neither of whom had come across Powerballs before, perhaps because no one else had bothered to ask them. So in essence I would say get the book by all means but be very wary of using that on its own if your body is telling you otherwise. ...and finally @hagguy my experience of the knife has been pretty good generally. The shoulder is still tight, but some of that is my fault for not exercising enough (physio reckons the muscles in my neck and shoulders are locked solid). Index finger knuckle kept me out of action in plaster for around three weeks (as I recall). The wrist last Feb was in plaster for two weeks and I was raring to go pretty much as soon as the plaster came off and that and the knuckle were a great improvement. No more grinding of the gears as they move and strength pretty solid now - where it is off I think that is the rest of the hand that is getting done at the end of the month. Now I am a desk jockey and you are in a more manual trade that may put more strain on those joints, but IMO if the knife were offered I'd say go for it.
