  1. I'm gunna get me a Pipe when you can play like "Duck" everything is cool
  2. Thanks Funky, but I don't even want to ship it in UK if I can help it. I have fond memories of a weekend of gigs at a wine festival on the french border, I was going to say if you can organize a spot this year I'll be there. But its probably a No Sorry good luck with your search
  3. Last bump for this, but it will remain available as will be indicated on my signature below, should any of you be interested. I am happy to meet up at a reasonable distance or further if you own a B&B by the sea. 😉
  4. Barbara Streisand - amazing just ask Alexa play Barbara Streisand, duets i didn't even know she had done
  5. The answers are all covered above. Unfortunately when changing to 5 string it takes some experimenting to re find your sound. I played 4 strings for about sixteen - eighteen years and always used Rotosound solo strings, then shops were only stocking Elites so went with them but still stainless, when I changed to 5 string and wasn't so happy with them, I started using half wounds and pressure wounds including Status which were good and eventually discovered Nickle strings which i still prefer, and today use D'Addario nickles on my Shuker, SIT Nickles on my MBass, and Newtone string on my E-C Ale Antia. My next set will be a custom set of Newtone for my MBass because they feel and sound good. But who knows they may not on that bass ? Note. I did once take a 5 string set with me back to Mr How at a bass show because the B string didn't ring at all, he gave me a replacement set which were fine, this was the second time I had a dud string in one of their sets, so it is often the string but you wont get any manufacturer to admit that, its all about what you did when putting them on, which of course it can be.
  6. Thanks Guys - I'm trying to be realistic on price in the present climate, a lot of nice basses on here at bargain prices, but this maybe going back under the stairs for another day.
  7. Thanks Risk101, this has been my go to bass as well. But I'm playing only jazz now and leaning toward my 4 string more. This bass does come with the Neotech padded strap as in picture 1, forgot to mention that.
  8. Think it was how I took the photo and angle, I like low action here is another shot

  10. I'd want a Mercedes bolted to that 😁 but wouldn't want to raise expectations of the band rolling up at gigs with that, tough act to follow 👍 all the best
  11. Not bass related but great to chill to and watch nature pass by, reminds me of hot summer hols
  12. I loved this post from AxelF Just look at all those bass Apostles sat round the pit, taking it all in, beautiful.
  13. A couple of questions Is that an Ebony board and what weight does this come in at ? cheers
  14. Depends on your line up. we were just Guitar, bass and drums and female singer. So often had to play an amalgam of what was on the original. Guitar would have to play the guitar parts and pick up on brass and string fills, I would cover Bass and maybe Keyboard part if guitar is playing important other fills, Sometimes I would find I am playing a completely different line to the original bass but it works as a whole. As above some songs work for your line up others not. Some we thought would never work amazed us. Just agree on what exact version you are doing and ensure everyone has a copy of that.
  15. Yah - you get what you pay for 🙂 great keys from her wow thanks.
  16. Padauk a favorite of mine - I have to say, but thats it
  17. OK Well i have spent the last three days making a 1/2 scale bass out of none tone woods, well woods i personally wouldn't choose to have a bass made out of. pictures attached. Looks quite nice but sounds stinky poo. some of you may point out, but it has no pick up or E.Q. So this just goes to prove If you use none Tone woods you had better concentrate on getting a good Pick up and pre-amp in the thing. otherwise ya lost. This is for my two year old grand daughter as she destroys Kiddie acoustic guitars by standing on them. Here is the sales pitch. Lime body ( basswood ) to you. actually an old chopping board. Nice English aged Oak top , from my Fathers wood collection Pine neck, with Light flamed Oak board and matching head stock. Padauk bridge and bone nut, left overs from a Shuker build course. Only had three old machine heads so its a 3 string bass. So that's it, If you want a real bass get someone who knows what he is doing and ask for some nice tone wood.
  18. i have been to a few Gigs like that, can't hear the Bass for the kick drum, could be the sound engineer hates bass players i suppose
  19. Some MD's in my experience are out of their comfort zone, and more worried about showing their inadequacies to their peers. Those in the band that feel they have the monopoly of being musically correct. So they concentrate on obvious things like volume and dynamics, they never seem to address individual sections not playing in time, or explaining why we are called the rhythm section. What ever bass you buy, if you have to plug into the mains you are not a real musician. Apparently. Don't get me started 😡
  20. who zips up the last one in. Like a few bands i've played in, the sections are never playing together.
  21. wonder who was still in the band the next week
