I still think of that episode in TV's Shoe-string that sort of broke her into the punk scene, well, Glam Punk. A form of product placement i guess - always fancied her since then. Just found it on the Tube But very sad - Story is about the Bass player who gets thrown off the Pier Maybe that's why i subliminally took up playing the bass, she was looking for a bass player.

Yes Precision for me too Felt the Jazz and Ray had set up issue lots of fret noise more noticeable on all styles I Liked the T Bird handled all styles very well I always liked the Rick until got to played one and have hated them with a passion ever since, but though I should say slapped it had an edge i quite liked. Agree with DrT the Ray can handle more bass into that pickup position and did not show the heft / weight you can get out of these without the bloom Interesting. shame nobody give a shite what ya bass sounds like in the real world

Always my fave video this, I wish i was into them at the time. Mani always looks like he is only just holding it together, I never really thought about his sound - I used Elite grounds for some time and loved them but only finger style. I think the Valve amps and the pick and semi hollow body also play a large part.

sounds like a valve to me too, I have changed all of mine when i had one of these for NOS British valves, It does require removing a head sink or trany as i remember at the back of the valves they all sit in their little metal shielding sprung jackets but there is not enough room to pull them out and bend them up and away without bending pins or worse. If that doesn't phase you it is only 4 screws. you can then lift all three out fixed together then removal of each valve is easy. With the power off take off the top cover and have a look and decide if you are up for it.

I bought a good one for the Mrs when she broke a bone in her foot and couldn't stand and sing all night - foot got better and i kept the seat - check Thomann.de It was £100 + but it is a good one fully adjustable and great for sitting gigs because you can be higher than the standard chairs provided, mine has a back important if you need to sit for a whole concert, see below https://www.thomann.de/gb/mey_chair_systems_afsrklah_bk.htm

Having just purchased a CS 62 P relic my first 4 string for about 15 years I ordered some Labella 0760M .052 - .110 last week they've been on a few days now and i just re adjusted the neck yesterday to suit and the action Surf's Up man and the foam I do have La Bella white tapes on my Status electro by the way for those above asking about tape wounds I had spend a few pounds trying others that were not as good, Inc the black La bella, GHS, Status, The whites are slightly more articulate and feel better under the fingers than the Black tapes IMO. It actually cost me a lot more than that as i had to buy 5 new Hipshot tuners and change the nut to get them on the bass. So do check because the wrap makes them massive C.S.A compared to standard strings

I'm a big admirer of his work to date If you have checked out the videos of his early years - i mean 5 years old stuff you will see he was imitating Michael Jackson at home and later - early teens James Brown at shows, so was already learning where Michael got his mojo from. As an imitator he has soaked up everything that is great in musical entertainment. Then he found himself and has since delivered great tunes to the world. Yes he is giving people what they like and are familiar with. If he was to come up with a new form of Bebop for the 21st century or some weird techno pop - bleeps from outer space etc, we would all be saying he has lost it. I see him still evolving, he has moved from a solo pop artist appealing to young girls and now moved to become more african american mainstream as part of a group of male singers "boy band" if you like but its Black American mainstream young music that is current. If he was born earlier he would be in the Temptations or similar and thats what he is doing fulfilling his dream but in his time and Space Give me more MR Mars Oh I forgot Elvis

I think it best if you pop round once a week and play each one just to make sure they are still OK

We all find this from time to time, just can't pick out whats going on. I do the best i can and much depends on your band line up compared with original band line up. maybe the duties are shared on a particular feel, i.e. no keyboard or pos no brass in your band, so guitar or keys handle the brass stabs you hold down the groove but that may mean some one has to play the exciting bass riff because you are busy holding it down. So we often go for a sanitised version that sounds complete and right to the listener, good musicians know what parts they need to pick up and which to leave to others. Have you checked out "Best practice" a free download that will let you change key and or slow things down without altering the pitch while you learn it. bp.exe

Funny I was real tempted by a sunburst Lull PJ 5 at Bassdirect back last year, but bad timing and I have too many fives, and have not got the gigs now that warrant the 5's hence trying to get back to my roots on a four string P and felt I deserve a good - un. Because I'm worth It Anyone fancy an Mbass 5 ? -
