  1. I was just checking Wiki - early 1800's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pajamas
  2. Got into it for thumb / slap because you need to temper things and even things out, funk don't sound the same without one, unless you have a valve amp. so have got in the habit of having one up front on my board, I would rather not have anything between me and the amp but these do balance out your playing style and string volumes.
  3. Girlfriends Daughter - right Your among friends here ash
  4. If you hold these to your lips and continue to increase the angle, you'll find you will get increasingly Phased
  5. Hi Guys I guess you are electrically biassed having clicked on this, and thought you may like this. A Great explanation [attachment=250852:KVA beer.jpg]
  6. Love the SM-500 i bought on here to run my two 4 ohm cabs great tone and flexibility
  7. We Use an RCF PA which is great gear but also have 3 x 10" Alto monitors which are great and have used them as a small PA at Jazz jams I quite rate their gear, but don't go less than 12" for your main speakers.
  8. I'm with Bassmayhem - that's musicianship
  9. I have had many generator related gear issues, i have documented here in various threads in the past so will spare you the detail Basically generators if they are overloaded, the frequency will dip. Larger sets e.g. Fair grounds you may have noticed the set cough when additional load comes on, you may see a puff of black smoke from the exhaust as the AVR linked to the engine tries to correct the speed to keep the frequency stable. If the set that your venue hires is too small or set up with Freq too low Your gears transformers will experience higher current get hot so your protection circuit may shut it down. An example -Quote The lower the operating frequency the more flux lines that are generated. Operating a transformer at 50Hz generates 20% more flux lines than at 60Hz. As the number of flux lines approaches the magnetic material’s limit, the heat in both the transformer’s core and its coil wires increases, and under certain circumstances, unpredictably so. This can result in a transformer that exceeds safe temperature levels. Therefore, a transformer designed to run at 50Hz will simply run cooler at 60Hz. But one designed only for 60Hz may overheat if subjected to 50Hz.
  10. Is that Omar Hakim on drums in that Chic - Jerry Barnes clip ?
  11. You Bass Toffs Bernard is my main man too - all the original vinyls in the loft etc etc. This is a 2017 covers band with one original member and boy didn't they kick ass. Killer bass tone for an outside gig and i bet Mr Rogers had his engineer make sure it was that way. Now all you moaners go off and practice
  12. Love the Peavey, Always wanted a Sklar double P, so building one with Mr Shuker in August hope i am proud enough to post it later
  13. Power wise it will be fine, Should run the whole band without traditional lighting. But have had issues with generator gigs, Frequency is an issue if not maintained, Should be 50Hz as the mains, but could be anywhere either side. Do you know any sparks to check if it is earthed properly, They are also usually center tapped to earth to give 55 volts to earth through the yellow sockets, but this also means the blue socket and or 13 A socket is also connected this way, It shouldn't affect it but confusing when testing it. Use an RCD socket outlet on your extension to be safe
  14. I enjoyed the Foo's Just a band you have to see, whenever they are televised and yes I agree they were in awe of the reception they received, the event, So were not as raw and not so - take a load of this , as I have seen them 8 - 10 years ago. Bands are best when they have something to prove. Or other bands to knock off the top
  15. I have only just been able to listen to an Oasis song on the radio now The Guys an arse'ole always was and probably always will be - his brother should know. Turning up unprepared is just another example of the contempt for the hard work most artists put into the business before getting anything out.
  16. " Close enough"
  17. picking it up correctly can be learned, but getting through doors could be fun.
  18. Hi Squib I thought you got 3 years?, If i knew you were coming out i would have lent you the £1100, and taken the Nash as security till you get yourself together Tempting,
  19. May be worth us all taking a step back to the Car ownership example, where the log book does not prove ownership you are the keeper. The scrappy piece of paper that says Received from J.Smith £3k for Car reg ABC123A is what counts We should and i have done, but more recently got out of the habit of asking for a receipt when buying large items say a Bass at £2000. mainly for tax returns but knowing this receipt showed i was the rightful owner at this time. Lets face it how many basses and cabs on here have been owned by 3,4,5 of us and all past owners have pictures and written down serial numbers ??
  20. Thanks Guys - just joined Ampband - I am already with Allianz but only have £2m PLI not enough for the next gig. Allianz runs out in Sept and was £165 which is cheaper than the MU my previous MU at £240, but admit did not cover all the same level of benefits. Just wish the MU provided the flexible cover Ampband clearly are, also see Hencilla Canworth lltd are the Insurers for both. So come on MU what about representing the needs of the weekend warrior - semi pro muso's.
  21. I have never made the jump, but some one once said - keep it low and and if lost play D ? no one will notice The other thing as an electric player i have learned from the upright guys - is the use of open notes, they use it to re tune the ear to adjust hand position but I find this also gives you time to re-position your left hand when the piece goes high or low. Some older big band parts really lend themselves to open notes, so for me this departure from always playing fretted notes has opened up my playing style. Has also made some difficult numbers easier with open notes because that's how it was originally played. all the best
  22. make sure your amplifier is plugged into an RCD, you should be fine
