Now Sold Up for sale is my SWR SM-500 In great condition, It can be used stereo with effect returns/ dual mono or just one side, I bought this to power my two 4ohm cabs prior to going down the Boogie 2ohm route. Comes in rack sleeve. SWR SM-500 Tube Preamp/Solid State Power Amp. The SM-500 Professional Bass Amplifier provides the power, performance, flexibility and portability required by the professional bassist for every style of playing and nearly every playing situation. To design an amplifier that would cover “all of the basses,” SWR had to use almost every imaginable type of electronic component available. This added up to an all TUBE preamp section, a limiter circuit utilizing Field Effect Transistors (“FETs”), tone and equalizer controls utilizing integrated circuits, and two individual power amps employing discrete, solid state devices. The power amplifiers in the SM-500 can be used individually to provide full stereo capabilities, each delivering 250 watts into individual 4 ohm speaker enclosures. In the event that more power is required, the amplifiers can be bridged for 400 Watts @ 8 ohms or 550 watts @ 4 ohms. The power amps are cooled by a thermostatically controlled fan and the chassis is vented on its rear and right side. They are extremely well made basses grab one when you get a chance, nearly all have ebony boards and were sort of plec -ed before the term was used and registered so pretty damn perfect neck although many will now be 30 years old +

Now sold thank you For sale only – Ale Antia - 5 string 32” scale. From the Luthiers site https://aleguitarsluthier.wordpress.com/basses/antia-bass-32-olive-top/ A fantastic piece of craftsmanship with great sustain and a wonderful organic fundamental tone. When I purchased the bass, It was strung E < C I fitted a custom set of Newtone strings, I used it like this for a year and then ordered another set B < G . currently back to E -- C . Both work well on the bass with very little adjustment, both sets will be supplied with the bass. The Richter pre-Amp is very clever and frequency centers are spot on to be really useful live. Front to rear 1. Volume, with pull to go passive. 2. Blend Mag/Piezo. 3. Passive Tone (only works with 1 pulled). 4. Bass/treble boost but is flat with center pulled so you can pre-set levels for a solo passage by pushing in. 5. Mid cut, right where it matters. The action is low and fast, with flat neck profile front to rear. The bass is in excellent order with the normal play wear expected 9.5 /10. The Bass will come with Hiscox case and strap. The Aguilar mag pup has an Olive ramp which I currently have off. I have included some photos from the previous owner due to better camera detail. Prefer pickup and a chat here in West Berkshire but will send within UK. will also meet up within 40 mile radius. The bridge is an ETS bridge and currently set to 18mm the link above says different. I went over to the D800 when they came out, was disappointed with its flexibility, over my previous Markbass amp, and the GK MB500fusion i used, sold it and went up to the MESA 800+ which i still have for the extra flexibility but still feel the Markbass are better voiced and louder as a 500 watt to the Mesa 800 ??

On a 5 string I find it is wedged between the B and E muting both when playing A, D, G. I seem to change the angle of it for an occasional E so just muting the B. but it don't move much. Can't say i think about it much anymore The B string is my thumb rest if the part requires a lot of notes on the E string.

I was just a couple of single pedals guy for years and Like Bassbiscuits i would have them on top of the cab and thump them with my fist. buying batteries was the thing that took me to a pedal board the smallest i could find Just four on there only used each of them about once through the gig, depending on the set I would sometimes not bother with them at all due to fear of degrading my sound. ( Comp, Oct, synth, Chor/Flange, )

ex Trombone player here, Brass Band and Orchestra also played Tuba. It all comes in useful, the theory, playing as part of an ensemble, knowing how light a shade make a piece, learn how to practice properly, stage craft etc etc Playing Trombone in a functions band at a high level was invaluable, sight reading on the fly, respecting other performers on the Bill etc stood me in great sted for running a band for thirty years on Bass . I Think Piano or Guitar would have been more useful to go over to bass but the other lessons i learnt along the way were great. -
Yes always kept them on pedal board below the cab, less hazards to trip over. even if that meant turning away mid number to switch on or off but that was rare.
