1. I'll be in touch Paul.
2. When you can't jump up and down and look cool anymore you have to try to get the notes right, its the only edge you have left. I'll probably end up winging it as well
3. That must be really annoying you set up the jig you rout your bass only to find the whole thing has moved
4. Yaah. great The Tab i'm looking at every verse and chorus is different and there are pre choruses as well, and then there is a different part over the solo. hense I'd rather just read it. Youv'e been playing it wrong all these years Truckstop
5. Thanks Pete, Dots would be great if you have them, but also if you have Tab you can swear by i'll go for that. PM me and i'll send you my mail address. cheers
6. Thanks guys, I have been sat writting it out from Tab on the web, but just hate the whole tab thing, I'll knuckle down and stop moaning.
7. Lee Skla made fame and fortune with his pups arse about face, I have always wanted to commission a p bass with dual reverse P's to get articulation in the bottom two and a mellower top end, as i find i move my plucking hand down on the lower two and find i move it up for the higher strings. But i can see where Leo was coming from with just a passive roll off. making the bass bassier and the highs zingier.
8. Do any of you have the Dots to Bonjovi. living on a prayer It would make my life alot easier, I played it about 15 years ago and its all seeped away- old age. cheers All sorted thanks guys
9. wouldn't it be great if you could sell ya old beaten up cars for more than the price of a shiney new one Good luck looks great
10. Last bump, will be pulled on Monday
11. weekend bump,
12. Pro Bass bump
13. I was influenced early on before I touched the bass, liked the early hits, and acknowledge him as a fine musician and bass player even when not using the thumb. But level 42 became all about synth and the bass parts faded in the mix and I feel mark became the rhythm guitarist in his own band. Non musicians still name him as thE bass player, in conversation, I'm sure we all get that when you mention you play bass.
14. Good find 51 you could take a bag of plaster to the gig and patch the holes made by the pogoing guitarist
15. Why don't you guys go straight for one of these. Hearing loss is a bummer aint it, I blame them drummers
16. This is all about playing too loud in a practice room. You need to train your ear to identify frequencies. ring the room out just like setting up a PA, bring up the volume until the first peak frequency booms or howls, notch that frequency down 3< 6 dB then start over, You do not need expensive things to put your cab on just learn how to set up to minimise problems, mic stand and monitor placement, back line placement etc. Apologies to Bill for my earlier comment but he is right you do need a parametric to get the best results without affecting frequencies either side you need to retain. A graphic will do it but anything less than 31 band 1/3rd of an octave per slider will affect your sound. a good parametric gives you an adjustable Q which is the width of frequency band affected. A notch filter is ideal
17. Lots of points to take on Board here

Price per man what will cover your time suggest £100 min prob = £10 hour
Repertoire are you set up to give people what they want, not what you want to give them, this involves an extensive pad.
Gear, insurance, PAT testing, clothes, advertising, web, agents, Tax, transport costs, rehearsal cost. maintenance
How busy do you want to be? one /year at £1500 or 12 gigs at £500 or 52 gigs at £200 or 365 gigs for nothing
How good are you what do the best bands in your area charge
This is like comparing a moped to a Jag
18. one price drop bump then it stays
19. just under 5kg on my scales which is nearly 11lb in Enlgish. The cost of a good Bubinga tone.
20. Fish n chips. An old tooth brush, may be a mild dilute detergent if it really is Rank, dry thoroughly then lemon oil. Just lemon oil after the initial clean each time you change the strings should keep it in good nick.
21. OK I'll bake a cake. better invite chris-b to bring his Rob Allen. I'll PM you
22. Tend to agree Kenny, Those heads with a good size graphic are largly missing from todays current choice. When you need to notch a troublesome frequency, you do not have the weapons to deal with it. I can understand why Mark King got Ashdown to produce one. We love these light weight amps with fat shelving EQs but there's a lot to be said for an old Peavey valve preamp and a 31 band graphic in a rack.
23. Sunday Bump, This bass is up there with the best of them. note. Bass is typical warwick thumb in colour not as Orange as the photos would indicate.
24. Get yourself a neo 4x12 lighter than your average 4 x 10 and carry it all on your own This is seriously nice ticking over and your guitarist will love you
25.
It does work, but not the way they claim. The cab contacting a stage does not cause it to vibrate; that would be the tail wagging the dog. The sound coming from the cab can cause a resonant stage to vibrate, which in turn can cause the cab to vibrate atop it. You may want to isolate the cab to stop it from vibrating. You can use a fifty quid gizmo, but rubber feet are all you need. Isolating the cab won't stop boom because the cab contacting the stage doesn't cause boom. It's the resonance of the stage and/or other reflection issues in the room.
I think you’re gonna disappear up ya own arse one day Bill. Yes ok it is the propagation of whatever chooses to vibrate in sympathy with a given frequency. Possibly sometimes maybe the dimensions of the wooden box you are all set up on, just as likely to be the drummer setting it off. Basically something sounds Shttt. If raising your cab 1" or a foot off the deck on a beer crate, 4 paper cups or a very expensive thing that sounds like a throat sweet, and it works what the hell. I would just add don't play louder than the room will let you and you probably be fine.
