1. I was influenced early on before I touched the bass, liked the early hits, and acknowledge him as a fine musician and bass player even when not using the thumb. But level 42 became all about synth and the bass parts faded in the mix and I feel mark became the rhythm guitarist in his own band. Non musicians still name him as thE bass player, in conversation, I'm sure we all get that when you mention you play bass.
2. Good find 51 you could take a bag of plaster to the gig and patch the holes made by the pogoing guitarist
3. Why don't you guys go straight for one of these. Hearing loss is a bummer aint it, I blame them drummers
4. This is all about playing too loud in a practice room. You need to train your ear to identify frequencies. ring the room out just like setting up a PA, bring up the volume until the first peak frequency booms or howls, notch that frequency down 3< 6 dB then start over, You do not need expensive things to put your cab on just learn how to set up to minimise problems, mic stand and monitor placement, back line placement etc. Apologies to Bill for my earlier comment but he is right you do need a parametric to get the best results without affecting frequencies either side you need to retain. A graphic will do it but anything less than 31 band 1/3rd of an octave per slider will affect your sound. a good parametric gives you an adjustable Q which is the width of frequency band affected. A notch filter is ideal

6. just under 5kg on my scales which is nearly 11lb in Enlgish. The cost of a good Bubinga tone.
7. Fish n chips. An old tooth brush, may be a mild dilute detergent if it really is Rank, dry thoroughly then lemon oil. Just lemon oil after the initial clean each time you change the strings should keep it in good nick.
8. OK I'll bake a cake. better invite chris-b to bring his Rob Allen. I'll PM you
9. Tend to agree Kenny, Those heads with a good size graphic are largly missing from todays current choice. When you need to notch a troublesome frequency, you do not have the weapons to deal with it. I can understand why Mark King got Ashdown to produce one. We love these light weight amps with fat shelving EQs but there's a lot to be said for an old Peavey valve preamp and a 31 band graphic in a rack.
10. Sunday Bump, This bass is up there with the best of them. note. Bass is typical warwick thumb in colour not as Orange as the photos would indicate.
11. Get yourself a neo 4x12 lighter than your average 4 x 10 and carry it all on your own This is seriously nice ticking over and your guitarist will love you
12.
It does work, but not the way they claim. The cab contacting a stage does not cause it to vibrate; that would be the tail wagging the dog. The sound coming from the cab can cause a resonant stage to vibrate, which in turn can cause the cab to vibrate atop it. You may want to isolate the cab to stop it from vibrating. You can use a fifty quid gizmo, but rubber feet are all you need. Isolating the cab won't stop boom because the cab contacting the stage doesn't cause boom. It's the resonance of the stage and/or other reflection issues in the room.
I think you’re gonna disappear up ya own arse one day Bill. Yes ok it is the propagation of whatever chooses to vibrate in sympathy with a given frequency. Possibly sometimes maybe the dimensions of the wooden box you are all set up on, just as likely to be the drummer setting it off. Basically something sounds Shttt. If raising your cab 1" or a foot off the deck on a beer crate, 4 paper cups or a very expensive thing that sounds like a throat sweet, and it works what the hell. I would just add don't play louder than the room will let you and you probably be fine.
13. too high could play havock with the vocal mics and piss band mates off I use a dolly board 3" for wheeling gear in and always put my cabs on it. just de couples the floor so i always get the same sound to EQ. Carpets are the pits sucks the sound away, and hollow stages boom. But always get used to putting it on something, the same thing every gig helps.
14. For a reading muso, it saves flying up and down the neck = economy of movement = less wrong notes. But a 5 is chunky enough for me.
15. Bump - you can get a new one made but will cost about £2600 the last time i saw a price list.
16. I pressed the button before i was ready.
17. Schack Unique 5 string in Bubinga with 34” Flamed maple neck, 24 fret Ebony board 18 volt schack preamp. with adjustable frequency centres and ’Q’ on all 3 bands. A very articulate bass, piano like tone cuts well in a busy band situation Pulled
18. Thanks Guys. These are great cabs for sure, you can play at low amp settings and get the coverage. if someone else wasn't moving into our office thats where it would stay.
19. My Old Moan. I'm with Jack. My wife’s wheels for the last decade and more has been a VW Transporter, she loves it bless her, she can’t tell a BMW from a Porsche Most gigs it is our gear so fair cop but occasional drummer on long hauls. But when our LAST guitarist sold his car and just assumed he would be getting lifts, you know him bad back; have to ask him to get on the other end of everything. Ya him, well he didn't last long after that. I've had years of it first there, last home, you do have to stand back and wait for others to step up sometimes. It’s just the Bass player is naturally the nicest guy in the Band, we need to get real if not get mad sometimes
