As I am no longer using 5 string basses I'm putting my Lakland 55-02 Deluxe up for sale. She is in superb condition, never giigged & is the lightest Lakland or 5 string I have ever owened or tried at only 8.7 lbs & I've had many over the years. It has a totally stunning quilt maple top, has a cherry burst finish & maple neck. Its also the easiest 5 I've had to play & doesn't break your sholder like some can. I think the B string is also much better tonally & balanced than the any other. It has all the usuall top end Lakland active & passive eq & Bart pups with a huge expance of tones from Fender P & J, Stingray etc & much more. I'm not after trades so will be selling it for £950.00 . PRICE DROP £880.00 FINAL PRICE DROP £840.00. . Can post at your expence or pick up near Portsmouth. This had the Alder body (3 colour Sunburst) as do all the black & other solid colour new Jazz Deluxes, they only do the ash body on Natural & Trans Wine. My Lakland 55-02 Deluxe is only 8.7lbs, (lightest Lakland 5 string I've had) mind I also had a 55-94 Deluxe at atround 9.5 lbs & a Natural 55-02 that was near 11lbs so I guess many manufacturers show quite a bit of discrepancy in body weights too. For weight camparison in the shop I also picked up couple of new 09 American Deluxe Jazz's, one was light, the other heavy.

Just got back from trying out one of these new 2010 American Jazz Deluxes with the intention to buy. Hmmmmm! I thought the word Deluxe meant top of the range, hardly weighing in at a heavy 10lb. You would have thought they would have specially selected bodies represnting nice grain & light weights. Obviously other Deluxes will vary slightly weight wise but 10lbs sure aint Deluxe to me. Both my 96 Custom Shop American Deluxe Jazz & 02 FMT Jazz weigh in at 8.5lbs each, what I'd expect from a top end bass. The active / passive switch is a nice touch although it was the new N3 pups & new eq that I was primarily interested in seeing what difference or improvements there were compared to the SCN & Noisless set ups of its Deluxe predicessors. Overlooking the terrible (NONE) set up, to my ear I thought there was very little difference to notice if any. I'd have to realy test it out alongside my other jazzes to realy see if there were any real difference but on that all important first play opinion, I'll not be handing over my hard earned wedge just yet, not even if it was 8.5lbs. I was hoping for some real noticably differences in tonal ability. It will be interesting to hear from others who currently have the pre 2010 Deluxe basses & try a new one out.

By the time youve paid for posting your intraments around assuming you do find someone with a rare natural finish who wants to swap & If its that important then why not just get the body pro refinished, should be around £100 if you remove the hardware first. Phone your locally music shops first, they should know of local guitar repair buisnesses locally if they dont do it themselves. If no joy try The Bass Gallery & other obvious makers. Strange!

It sounds like an American Deluxe Jazz Bass FMT, comes in Flamed or Quilt maple tops 18v active & is if so certainly worth £900 smackers. They will have Vintage Noiseless pups if its a 02-04 or will have the SCN pups if its 04 onwards. I have an 02 (picture atatched) & its light, looks stunning, plays like no other Jazz with loads of tonal variation & has overtaken my 96 Custom Shop American Delux Jazz as my main gigging instrament. I notice that Fender are just introducing a new range of American Deluxe basses with yet again an upgrade to N3 pups & new pre amp whatever these are.

Hi, no were all from the Portsmouth area, Heartbreaker's been going about 3 years although I've been into playing Free music on my EB3 for decades, superb rythems & style, a real unique one off was Andy Frazer, just love those bass lines.
