#1 bass gets used the most, sometimes when the strings get old i restring bass #2 and use it for the sake of variety and also to rest my shoulder a bit, it's lighter. It always makes me apreciate bass #1 when i get back to it

I think that if you ask Sandberg they'll fit the pickups of your choice on a custom build.

I should be on the same page as the OP, my main gigging gear has been with me for several years and i haven't found anything that would change my mind... but i keep searching because buying, trying and selling gear is fun though expensive some times. I've found my gear and my sound but the GAS hasn't gone away yet...
Oh my nerves. I'm so hacked off with PMT online right now. Bit of back story - I've got an Ashdown Mibass 10 combo, that I want to add a matching extension cab to so I get the full 4 ohms from the head.
So now you have the Mi10 combo and two 4ohm Mi10 cabs? Well, there's a solution for you, ask someone like OBBM to make you a special speakon cable so that you can link both your cabs in paralel so that they present an 8ohm load to your combo. Then you'll have a 3x10 rig
The worst buzz I ever had from a rack system was one of the butterfly catches vibrating at certain frequencies. That also stopped when I moved the rack. Just saying ...
A bit off-topic, probably! That's exactly why i bought a rack with the latches on the lid. I don't even know why a rack manufacturer could possibly design a rack with loose pieces... they sould know that sound causes vibrations... don't they? But i've lost count on the number of manufacturers that still do it (some with big name brands). As an example, here's one from Gator that may cost something close to £100: And one like mine (except for the carbon fibre look), cheap and cheerfull at half price of the Gator, from Proel: Looks like an obvious thing, should we let them know?
Slight problem my clipping light is not coming on, no matter what. However my mustang bass doesn't have that much poke lol However after reading the manual and other things its common to set the gain 6-9 so that's what I'm doing and the tone certainly seems better. Also noticed a shallow frown no pre shape works well. Compressor still isn't compressing unless its very subtle, it does gain volume and I can hear a slight difference maybe! But its not like other compressors ive used. Maybe its my lowish output bass?
Don't worry, that happens with some passive basses. First i would try to see if you have your bass properly setup, maybe the pickups nedd to be raised a bit, that will give you more signal strenght. I set the gain's maximum level doing a bit of slap and pop, try it if you haven't already.
Here try this from its from my Te 7215 smc GP7 This is the photo i use when some Muppet has been messing with it to annoy me in the storage room. https://goo.gl/photo...FMNTCbtN46Brz76 Input volume at around 2-3 oclock ish just under where my clipping light is and use the master to deal with volume ... https://goo.gl/photo...FMNTCbtN46Brz76 Completely contradicts what the others in the forum are saying about cutting 50hz but ... gives me what i want out of the amp.
From the pic i would say you're pushing your EQ too hard. Try lowering all buttons so that they all balance around the 0dB line and adjust the gain knob again. I'll bet that you'll be able to go higher in the gain knob and you won't be getting as much fart from the drivers at volume.

First write down the position to each slider, maybe mark them up on the pedal with a CD writer pen. You can protect your settings by getting a cover to fit over the sliders, something like a piece of plastic or even metal that can be screwed/glued/velcroed on to the enclosure. If it's an unexpensive pedal like a Boss or another thing in the sub-£50 range than you can allways get a wire cutter and cut the sliders flush in to the enclore so that the only way to move the slider is with a toothpick... Only do this if you really found your sound and will never part with that pedal.

Trace gives excelent tips on how setting up your amp to obtain maximum performance on their manuals. Here you go: http://media.wix.com/ugd/c44a33_59783e46cd57466d9d91d5f4a3160fa3.pdf From my Trace experience i would say to stay away from the pre-shape and turn off compression until you have nailed the EQ. Use the 50Hz slider to cut, it cleans up your sound a lot. Read the manual and follow the steps described there to setup the gain syage and EQ, you should end up with a sound you like. If not, Trace isn't the amp you're looking for...
Providing you got it in 2015
I thought that the thread was about pedals released in 2015, i'll be getting mine on the second batch, in Febuary 2016. I don't think i've even bought a pedal last year... probably the Zoom B3...

3Leaf appear to have released new Drive pedals under Pike Amplification name
Ghost_Bass replied to Kev's topic in Effects
Thanks for the demos. I now know that i won't be trading my B3K for the Vulcan, it sounds really great (not even close to the B3K) but i prefer to have the extra dirt-almost fuzz in my arsenal for an odd request from the audience and the more "in your face" sound of the B3K works better for me, it cuts the mix perfectly. Nice sounds on the Vulcan too, great pedal. -
If you love the sound through headphones and at low volume then i would say that your problem is most likely with the TC. The cab isn't putting out what it should. Find a different amp, take your basses to a shop to try then with another amp at volume and see if the problem is solved. Sell the TC and find a replacement here in the FS section, you should find something suitable at a good price.

Silver front grille for Ampeg cab possible?
Ghost_Bass replied to dave74200's topic in Amps and Cabs
Why don't you buy the grill cloth and make a new grill? You can copy the frame dimentions from the original or even remove the black cloth and staple a silver one in the original frame. Not very hard if you have some skills. -
Genzler Amplification Magellan 800 - now released!
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
I won't be getting this one, the Shuttle 9.2 has the same think i would use on the Magellan, all the extra features would allways be turned of anyway. The only thing that might have interested me was if Jeff added at least a second parametric mid control, sometimes you just need to cut/boost more than one freq in a tough room. Mesa Walkabout still has my respect in this and a few times i've wished i hadn't sold mine but the Shuttle has been serving me just fine for the last 4-5 years (i had the 9.0 before the 9.2). -
I don't think this will be Darkglass pressure at all.
You must admit that it's a strange move from Mark. "Diplomatic reasons" sounds like a big hint that he doesn't want any kind of beef with Darkglass. Only he knows why he went back with Pike. Mark is allways on top of the gear news, i don't believe that he would have close a deal with Pike not knowing all the fuss that has been around the forums and going back with the deal after having it posted on the site. I also can't prove that DG pressured Mark in removing the Pike from his stock but IMO it sure looks like it. All a can say for sure is that Mark made the smart move, he removed himself from the fight (at the cost of possibly getting Spencer angry and losing the 3Leaf distribution deal) but i'm sure he sells more DG inventory than 3Leaf and Pike put together. Good for him, shame on whoever caused this and very bad for us! -
Obviously the Future Impact!
Cheers for the tips. I see everyone say they should go as early as possible in a chain but see a lot of people use them after dirt, so I'm going to try a lot of combinations before I decide where to put it.
Just look at the MS's fx path and you'll see the way they get a synth-like sound: Octave-Distortion-Filter If you plan using the OC-2 as replacement for the MS's octave then place it before the MS so that you'll have the Distortion and Filter of the MS acting on the OC-2's sound. It's also known that octaves have tracking issues and need to be placed as early in the signal path as possible. I think i've posted this here before but i can't find my post.
This is what Mark said when I asked: "Due to diplomatic reasons we are no longer selling Pike."
WTF??? He might aswell have said "Due to pressure from another manufacturer we are no longer selling Pike." It's understandable that he removed Pike from the list, DG sells more and generates a bigger income, i don't blame him, but if it's confirmed that DG forced him to cancel the Pike deal then they'll now look as bad in the picture as Spencer did... -
The Worlds Most Recognisable Bass line.
Ghost_Bass replied to Hobbayne's topic in General Discussion
I must admit that i've never even heard the song on the OP ever so if it's the most recogniseable bass line ever and i'm a bass player then something must be wrong with me... My bass line of choice would definetly be Good Times, in all it's variants (Rapper's Delight, Gabriel o Pensador, and "i'll be shot for this" another One Bites The Dust, among many others). It's a very old bass line that's been repeated, modded and sampled over the years so people of all ages have heard it and know it. If we think about the present there's one bass line (more like a base line) that will also stay on people's head for ages, Seven Nation Army. Everybody starts singing that damned line the moment someone asks for it or the band starts playing. -
I don't carry a box with me to lift the cab, on big stages there's allways hardcases from FOH that i can use to lift it. On pubs i have a amp stand to lift it and it does weight a lot less than all the other gear we have to cart in, including PA, instruments and amps so it's irrelevant. Sometimes i even use a chair or another thing from the pub. Regarding the sound, i hear my cab perfectly fine if it sits on the floor but if i lift it i can use it at less volume because it's pointing directly to my ears and i also remove that floor coupling bass reinforcement that most of the time is unwanted on stage (i have subs in the PA to take care of the big lows, don't need them mudding my stage sound).
Seem to be a lot of electronic "experts" around all of a sudden. Every single component on Spencer's board could be a different value and at the range those pictures have been taken you couldn't tell with the naked eye. The joy of surface mount components is you usually need a magnifying glass to tell their value. Ask me how I know... You can be pretty sure based on the different layouts that the drive circuits are EXTREMELY UNLIKELY to be the same. I've taken the time to partially reverse engineer the original b3k pcb layout (from way back - it was posted for all to see on one of the DIY forums) and the drive circuit takes up VERY little real estate on the board. The rest is taken up with copious buffering and blending. The actual drive circuit is suspiciously similar to the few other CMOS circuits out there... Red Llama, Craig Anderton's tube sound fuzz... So who are we trying to kid here. I'd also point out that the market for boutique muff and tube screamer derivatives is HUGE. At least as big as the market for the originals! So even if the drive WAS the same, nobody is crucifying the 99% of boutique builders who are doing exactly the same thing. In my opinion Spencer has no case to answer, except in being naive enough to think that the visual similarity of the enclosure artwork wouldn't raise a few eyebrows.
This was the point i was trying to make when i draw those color circles. It's obvious that Spencer started this build with the B7K as a base point - and to me this is a fair move given his goal. He wanted to design a drive pedal to fit the existing cases so it would be easier to use the PCB layout he had from the B7K because he already knew it would fit the enclosures. From the PCB's pics we can see that he didn't just copied/cloned the B3K, he went a bit further modding it, adding components and a second drive and redesigning the PCB's tracks for the new circuit. Shame that he had to make it look so alike the DG pedals, with a different enclosure and PCB this thread would have never existed and people would be more focused in buying the Vulcan and A-B'ing it with the DG stuff. Personally, i would have tried to make a diferent fx for those enclosures or even ofered them for Doug to buy, then the drives woul have been made in a whole new design. It's hard to comment on the ethics of this, the similarities in look say ripoff but the circuit and sound say it's not a copy... we'll all have to agree in disagree Cheers -
Darkglass B3K should give you that bite to the sound without the need to get in to distortion.
You're quite right, they are all powder coated, I'd forgotten! I'd be surprised if the cab warps when drying out, there's a lot of bracing in there...
Isn't there a danger that the water entered the coil from the vent hole in the back? Is that piece of foam tucked in there thin enough to fliter the dirt?

The BassMS already has an octaver in the beginning of it's signal path so if you're planning to use the OC2 instead of that then i would say to place the MS after the OC2.
The ribbon cabling does look neater Si
Yep, it's one of the things i love in Spencer's builds, he takes pride in having everything neat and tidy. A lot of boutique pedals come with a huge tangle of lose wires inside.Don't know if the B7K in my pic is the new one (those wires look fragile and messy) but i remember seeing the guts of one with the ribbon cable, maybe a USA version built by spencer or the latest Finnish version from Doug. edit: here: Pike Amplification Vulcan OD -3 Leaf Audio New Company? from the looks of the switch it doesn't look like the ones Spencer used. Maybe Doug also took some knowledge from that partenership All good and fair from my point of view.
