1.
Circuit board comparisons up on Talkbass. Interested to hear Spencer's 'explanation' as to why the circuit boards are near identical too, bar a few value changes and a small section in the middle which one presumes is this 'second drive circuit'.
Oh! I love this game! Can i play? Clearly some similarities in the PCB layout with added features wich will most definetly change the overal sound of the pedal. Edit: Even though the PCB has the same size and shape of the B7K and most of the layout is the same these aren't B7K's spare PCB's, new tracks were added for the new components and some of the same components have been slightly relocated. I'm sure that Spencer did this from scratch, taking the base of the B7K and altered the PCB's design to accomodate his mods. It would be very difficult to come up with a new PCB design totaly different from the original wilst retaining the knobs in the pre-drilled enclosure positions. I won't comment about the ethics of this.
2.
So I got myself the larger PIKE. It is a little too big for my pedalboard though and I am not sure what hole to stick the jack in...
Well, if you think about it, there's one input and one output...
3. I've checked the 1x12" specs. Humm... $800 + VAT + Import Taxes for a 15kg cab that "only" puts out 350W... i think we can find cheaper/lighter from EU builders without compromising tone.
4. Just to clarify, when i commented about using a "bigger" capacitor i wasn't talking about raising the capacitance, only raising the voltage, (ie: replacing a 10uf 5v cap with a 10uf 16v will work, if the system is working fine, but the new cap will take more voltage before it blows wich means that any other component in the circuit that won't take this kind of voltage will blow before the new capacitor and could be a more expensive component to replace) Disclaimer: i'm not a tech and my knowledge of these things is very limited to the simple basics, take my post with a spoon of salt.
5. Take it appart (or have someone with expertise do it for you), hose down everything except the drivers (make sure you clean it very well), leave it all to dry indoors. Barefaced cabs are well braced so your cab may not develop warp. Pay especial attention to the wiring and plugs, after hosing them and leaving to dry spray them with contact cleaner spray. As for the drivers, i believe that the coil of the Kappalite 3015 is vented (if it has a hole on the back of the driver) and if that's the case the driver may be ruined as water might have entered the inside of the coil and dirt may have build up. A recone would be the cheaper way to repair them. There's a chance that they haven't caught dirt and they'll work after drying, if that's the case clean the allready dry cone gently with a brush to remove most of the dirt. Don't try to force it or expect it to look like new, you'll ruin the cone before getting to that point. Talk with Alex and see if he offers you any kind of repair service/quote.
6. The Yamaha TRB5PII is called "The TRB", the Yamaha TRB5P is called "The 5P", the Yamaha BB1000S is called (you guessed it!) "The BB", the Maison P-copy is called "The 4 String", the Maison 5 Bass Collection-copy is called "The Maison" and the ukelele bass is called "The Ukelele". Amps, cabs and pedals folow the same logic. I'm not very creative when it comes to names...
7. I still gig my MK1 Promethean, wonderfull combo and has the Vibe knob that can get you a bit close to the old school sound. I need to find a new tweeter for mine though, it has been developing some hiss lately, it may be about to blow. Off-topic: If someone can reccomend me a replacement tweeter please send me a PM.
8. I raise my S12T to ear level, works pretty fine. Can't you get a firm base to lift your cab a bit? Maybe a Hardcase or something (just be sure to get an anti-slide mat to put under the cab's feet and wheels, i had mine sliding along a hardcase and stopping near the case's edge on one gig, never again!). If the mixer is a problem put it on top of the guitar amp... Edit:
9. Nope! Still no Jazz for me this year. I bought two PJ's to join my HH and today i've placed an order for a Uke bass. If i buy a Jazz in 2016 it'll be the 2015 revelation bass (IMO), the Sire Marcus Miller V7. Now that's a proper J at a sensible price!
10. I would start by checking your bass/technique/strings/EQ before blaming it on the amp alone. With simple EQ you can take the boominess off any amp without it sounding too thin. - What strings are you using? How old are they? - What bass are you playing? How do you have the controls set? - How are you setting the EQ on your amp? Are you cutting the mids and boosting the bass?
11. A group of friends decided to form a band. All played guitar. One of them had a knack for drums. Somebody had to pick up the bass... BEST DECISION EVER!
12. Also i would add that Jeff may have listened to people's complaints about the blinding LEDs on GB amps and now they look way better.
13. And now, hopefully, a bigger picture...
14. Here it is! Personally, i think it's too alike ny Shuttle 9.2 to think about replacing it now but i'll need to hear one for myself first.
15. Been there, done that, and all those cliches... I currently run a Neo loaded cab (BF S12T) powered by either a GB Shuttle 9.2 or a Alembic F1-x going to a 1000W power amp. Some may call this boutique but my old rig (Trace Elliot GP12 into a 2x10" and a 1x15") probably costs the same amount of money, so that must also be boutique! What about the price of an Ampeg valve amp + 8x10? Isn't it also boutique? Well, all i can say is that i wouldn't change my current setup for anything old and heavy. It's a pain to cart around, the sound isn't clear and defined and it won't go half as loud as what i use now (not that i ever need it to, in fact now a i can play at lower volumes because i have more clarity and cut the mix better). Summing it up, Class-D+Neo for me all day long! PS: At least the OP doesn't use a multi-hundred(thousand) pound bass... oh wait!... is that a...
16. before replacing the cap for a "bigger" one you should find out what's causing them to blow in the first place. reinforcing that cap could make another component the weakest link in the chain and consequently blow up (and it could be more expensive to replace than a cap).
17. I was going to write that my MXR works really well with both my TRB and the Ken Smith i had, both with output way above an average active bass... but i see that you've chosen wisely already
18. I raise my S12T from the floor about 60cm, it's enough to get the top driver and tweeter pointing to my ears, never heard anything else but definition and punch

Diabolik!
ah, sorry, it's a W&C they are AWESOME
Humm... food for thoughs then I'll need to have a listen to this Makeko. Could i dare you to do a small A-B test with both units? Cheers
20. Just saw this post on Genzler's FB page:
Here's a behind-the-scenes shot in Dumbo Brooklyn, NY @ Joe Tomcho Photography & Film - taking photos of the next product we'll be releasing - the#Magellan800 amplifier. Sign up for the#GenzlerAmplification newsletter to receive a sneak peek of the amp before it's released to the general public! http://bit.ly/1PE8bvZ
Seems, from the name, that it will be fitted with that new(ish) 800W ICE power module. I'm curious to see if it will be a lightweight amp like the Shuttles or something with a bit more heft.

Diabolik!
OK, I am in deep smit! Just tried my new malekko diabolik at practice, and it is stupendous. Snarling, brassmaster goodness. I used to own one, and it was good, but SO loud, you had to set everything at 8-9 o'clock to use it with other pedals live. However, I think they may have updated it, as now, unity is nearer 12 o'clock, and I was able to properly ramp up the knobs and MY GOD it sounds good. It made my tall font russian sound a little bit lame by comparison. Nothing has done that before!! Very happy indeed!!
When you say "Tall Font Russian" do you mean the real deal or the Wren&Cuff TFR? I had two W&C TFR's and only sold them because od/fuzz didn't fit the bands i was in at the time but as soon as i have some need of fuzz goodness i know i'll be getting TFR#3
22. I played some big outdoor gigs this summer and a single S12T powered by my rack (1kW @ 4ohms) was more than enough to make every single person on stage happy (even FOH techs). Never had volume past 10 o'clock. I can't imagine myself giging a pair of these, i would be affraid that the stage could colapse...
23.
As soon as I can I'm getting someone to do some CAD drawings. I'll then re-post with some instructions and a series of photo's of the build. I'll do this as a new thread and let everyone know on here when it is done.
I'm an engineer and i make projects for a living, if you need any help with the drawings let me know, i work with AutoCAD every day.
24. It seems i've missed the post with the plans for the cab. Can the OP add them to the first post in this thread? Thanks
25. I don't think it's a rippof when people use the knowledge they aquire on a company when they go work on another. Take a look at Ashdown vs Trace, or the SWR > Eden > Thundefunk history and many more. I also never read so much hate on the internet when people buy the Behringer rippofs of Boss pedals or a Sadowsky/Allevo/etc. that are basicly Fender clones... But then comes Mr Hall and he's the villain that won't allow for his stuf to be copied/inspired... I'm not taking anybody's side, i own a Groove Regulator and a finnish B3K, excelent top quality gear. Spencer and Doug are really pushing the bass pedal boundaries forward. I just think that people should think twice before taking sides on something that's not really an issue. If Pike releases a better "B3K" it's not copy, it's progress, isn't it?
