I allways lift my cab/combo off the floor and avoid any kind of coupling in corners or back walls when possible. I know a lot would disagree but for me this gives me a tighter bass sound without any boominess, i can play at lower volumes because i'm hearing more of my bass and i can also hear the rest of the band a lot better (they also are thankfull for not having a wall of low-end filling their ears). The point is, for the OP and everyone else, try it! Then choose the best setup for you.

If you don't want to chop the bass but want the 4 knobs you can get a replacement electronics cover (made of plastic or veneer) and store the original one, then drill the hole for the jack on it. Just be sure to use an L-angled jack cable It should be enough to solve the problem and i don't think it will be that much hassle to have it against your body while playing, just put the jack the further away from the contact zone between the bass and the body.

OP, just post some pictures of your amp and cab and we'll get this sorted quickly!

I owned and sold two TFR's because i didn't had any use for them, don't make me GAS over TFR #3... i still can't use it on my current band...

Nice job. Wouldn't it be easier to have a control plate custom made to fit the existing holes? You wouldn't need to drill the body because the pots would secure it so no screws needed and that mod would be 100% reversible with no carving. Modding your scratckplate to fit the control plate it would cover the switch hole and give your bass a Sabre look

Maybe the knob adapts to your fingerprints and only you are able to turn it down???

Replacing Berg CN212 with 2x BF Super Compacts... Thoughts?
Ghost_Bass replied to goonerjoe's topic in Amps and Cabs
Sound and weight for me too! I'm very happy with the way my Super12T handles all the gigs i do. If i ever feel that i should change the looks of my bass rig it will be as simple as purchasing a piece of tolex, some glue and silver grill cloth, no need to move on to another manufacturer that may not give me the sound/weight i'm used too... -
Apart from the impedance this already exists: It's called the Big Baby 2. Seriously though, why would a 2x10" version of that be better?
4ohms! If you can get a single BB2 working at 4ohms (and the added extra headroom) i'll withdraw my post. Using two BB2's won't be accepted as answer, Cheers oh! and by the way, i got my t-shirt on the mail. Thank you

Here i go again... I want... i mean, WE want a Barefaced Super10T!!! Full range, flat response, great low-end reproduction, 4 ohms, front port, vertical 2x10" drivers plus a great tweeter! Top mounted reccessed handle, one speakon/jack combo plug, tilt-back system. All this in the 10Kg ballpark. Oh! And silver cloth only!!! Now for the most chalenging feature... it should cost less than £500! Are you up to the task Mr Claber? Edited for addition of front port.

Go for it! Just take in consideration this advice from Alex, regarding the ports:
I just quickly modelled your 8x15" cab: From 100Hz downwards it's of pretty much equal sensitivity to our Retro Six10, which can do fairly offensive levels of bass! It does need bigger ports - at the moment they'll start distorting pretty badly with about 50W. Six 4" ones 6" long will be fine. If you want maximum bass then replace the slanted baffles with one straight baffle for four 15"s and build another box the same size for the other four 15"s. One cab that size with four 15"s will do more bass than the 8x15" - the speakers have room to 'breathe' like that.
I hope i'll be able to hear it over here, ahaha

Should I swap my BF Super 12T for a Compact?
Ghost_Bass replied to BobVbass's topic in Amps and Cabs
Keep the S12T cab and never sell it! You will regret it the next day! Save money to buy a compact and try both next to each other, then keep the one you like more and sell the other. -
+1 for not messing with it. If it aint broke...

Hi It's time to part with my beloved Ken Smith BSR5M-G, it's the best bass i've ever owned but more important things come first. It's a 5-string bolt-on model (not a Burner, it's a real Black Tiger hand made in USA by Ken), currently all original except for the strap buttons ( i use schaller in all my basses but i'll stick the ones it came with before shipping, looks like dunlop ). It plays beautifully with absolutely no problems or issues. The action is set very low because i'm a light player and the sound is the real deal, it's the "Smith sound". Specs: NECK: "3-piece laminated aged hardrock Maple bolt-on. Precision handcarved and fit to exacting specifications. 34" scale, 24 frets, matching headstock." FINGERBOARD: "Morado/Pau Ferro with Mother of Pearl side dots." BODY: "Black Walnut on the wings with Flamed Maple center block." FINISH: "Classic handrubbed Dutch Varnish over Stradivari gold Oil (Ken's secret sauce)." HARDWARE: "Gold Smith hardware." - this was an opcional extra! ELECTRONICS: "Smith 3-band 5-pot 9V preamp (volume (push-pull for active-passive) / balance / bass / mid / treble ) with Smith Custom Bass Humbucking Pickups)." WEIGHT: 4,2Kg Conditon/Repairs/Issues: It made lots of gigs in my hands and never missed a beat. Fully working conditon, the neck is straight as a ruller, no fretwear or rust. It's stung with a 5 month old set of D'Addario ProSteels EPS170-5 For full disclosure i feel i have to add just one small detail: when i bought it it had a tiny bit of background noise, this was due to the shielding/grounding on the preamp cavity starting to degrade. It was re-painted with conductive graphite paint and an extra ground wire was added to reinforce the ground form the preamp to the shield. (i'll post pis of this later). This is a very common problem and easilly fixed, from what i could read online, but who better to tell you this than "the man" himself: http://www.smithbass...hread.php?t=395 Aesthetically it's in great shape for it's age/use, it carries the odd ding on the headstock from a few close encounterers with a cimbal, never been dropped, the chromes are in pretty decent condition but it has a bit of wear on the body, above the neck pickup, from having the hand rubbing that zone. It's a bit descoloured and there's a bit of carving happening just above the pickup (see pics) - If this was an old Fender bass it would make it worth even more money due to mojo Price, Trades & Shipping: Included in the sale is a Smith Hardcase (pic to be added). The bass is in Portugal and i'll bomb-proof pack it for shipping anywhere in UK/EU. The shipping will have a tracking number and the average delivery time will be a week for most part of Europe/UK. TRADED, THANK YOU! I'm looking to gather funds so all cash-only offers will have priority. All trade offeres must include cash settlement my way. I'm not looking for anything particular but i'll entertain offers for basses (5-string only!) with maple fretboard or amp heads. Here's what i could be interested in: Yamaha TRB 5P - the old model Fender Jazz American Deluxe V - maple fb Fender Precision American Deluxe V - maple fb Sadowsky MV-5 or UV-70 5 - maple fb Mesa Boogie Fathom/M6/M9 head Yamaha bass amp heads, the older the better Finally, the pics: More info and pictures will be posted as soon as i can. If you need more pictures or close-ups from any area or any other info i may have left out from this post please ask me and i'll get them for you. Thanks for looking, cheers Marco

Had a similar experience. I won a Yamaha B100 (1st model) head from german e-bay for about 20€. The seller never sent me an invoice for the combined item and P&P. I opened a case against him on e-bay after i saw the same item being relisted with the same description and even the pics and they replied to me that they were going to act against him and block his account. I never knew what happened to the seller but that second listing went through and ended even cheaper than what i've won it the first time... karma is a b*tch
