I'm sure that a 4x10 exists, i've played through one in the past, it's a 104HF model: There's also a 2x12 released a few years ago, a NY 122: Don't know if MB still builds them but it's always possible to find them on the used market.

P bass connoisseurs - ground/shielding issues?
Ghost_Bass replied to fingerz's topic in Repairs and Technical
I would start by unplugging the laptop from the mains first. Don't know how it works in UK but over here the laptops PSU's introduce a lot of interference in audio gear (most noticeable on bass cab tweeters). -
Ghost_bass i have some months ( i dont remember exactly) but I haven't play with them a lot. In the past I used the same strings (rotosound rs 66 ld-45/105) for a while and with a lot of playing and no problem.
I would definetly try a new set of strings with a fresh battery and go the "rotate all pots/flick all switches/plug in and out a jack +/-30 times" before going messing with the electronics. Having said that i must point that it's winter time and there's more humidity in the air so there's a big chance that some condensation might have accumulated on the electronics causing some kind of short, so a spray with contact cleaner on the PCB (if there's any visible) wouldn't hurt the bass. A trip to a tech is also a good idea if you're not comfortable to do it yourself.

Only problem i've experienced with mine is that the switch is failing, i use it allways on so it's starting to get stuck, need to replace it. Never used mine with battery, i've allways used a PSU but if i get some time i'll try a battery at home and let you know.

No punch and no mids? Humm... when was the last time you replaced your strings?
Yep, this thread is far from my finest hour. I did mention 'fretless' in the OP, but then should have said "there is a buzz on the first three fret positions". No, maybe "when I fret the first three notes". No. What terminology is used here?
Don't know, i just posted for the fun. Regarding your problem, any buzz you're hearing isn't related to nut action unless it occours when you play an open string. Truss-rod and bridge saddle adjustment will solve it. Leave the nut as it is for now.
(...) There is buzz on the first three frets. (...)

(...) ...the bass is fretless.
http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/12v-dc-regulated-power-supply-6-p.asp These guys have nice products, i own a PSU bought from them in 2010 and still going strong, i'm sure they'll be happy to reverse the polarity on the PSU in the link.

Don't know the name or the brand but looks like you're looking for that same kind of foam that is used on the inside of flight cases or on the bottom of gramma pads.
-
Great news, i would get one for a reasonable price. Only mods it needs is a patch "down" button and a smaller box if possible, everything else can be exactly like the SB1 (if it's not broken... ).

I would guess that the Big Baby 2 would be the perfect match to the Super Compact but have just been on the site checking dimensions and the BB2 is wider (1cm) and deeper (7cm) than the SC... If only they had made them with the same size...

Posting on your iphone again? Stupid auto-correct... let me fix it for you
From what I've seen, some of the R!"£$%^&*(=r owners are much more militant than MM types. As we all know, some basses suit some and thats how it is, no-one builds a perfect bass guitar (except YAMAHA, of course!) but surely same as everything else, we all find something that fits.. Whatever brand sits on the headstock..

Read the info. These cabs work just as well horizontally as vertically.
Yep, unless you wanna be creative or are a big fan of tetris while stacking your cabs the only thing to take in to account is that only the full-range drivers benefit from vertical alignement (hope i got this right, haven't checked the BF info).
-
Give me one of those running at 4ohms, two full-range speakers (no vintage/sealed mambo jambo) and a tweeter and i'll be a happy bunny. I've talked to Alex a long time ago about designing what i called a "Super10T" (i'm very creative, i know) but he told me that that wasn't on his plans. Now i'm seeing this cab going out i'm hoping that it inspires him to think about adding another option to his cathalog Oh! And tolex with silver cloth rules!!!!!

I only need and have use for 3 effects, i've had much more and all went their way. Appart from the very handy tuner and comp wich i don't count as an FX i only use octave, drive and wah.
I´m using a KMT DC5 with 2x500W. It´s not lightweight since it runs from a linear PSU but it has punch and lowend for ages, not like a switchmode-PSU amp which craps out after a few seconds of loud LF massage.
+1 I'm also using a KMT DC5, great amp with loads of low end, it goes up to 1000W bridged at 4Ohms. I use it on a 2U rack with the preamp and the whole thing is weighting something like 13kg +/-. I have margin to upgrade to a 4U rack and add a Furman conditoner and a DBX 160A comp and still keep the rack weight below the 20kg... humm
So Sandberg owners... do you know how flexible they are on the configurator? Would they make this? Also can they do an overspray look on the aged finishes does anyone know?
I would bet they can do anything you ask them to. I had a custom made VM5 one for me in wich i asked for vintage tinted neck and they were happy to do that for me. The bass was wonderfull but i ended up selling it because if i could have had a chance to try one beforehand i would have ordered it with 3 band EQ - the VM's sound is very classical, a bit scooped, and i like to have a bit of mid bark on my sound.
-
Is the jack mounted on a plate? Wich cab are we talking about? It's a very simple and straightforward operation but depending on how its made it can be harder to do.
-
Any news on the cabs? Photos, specs, plans, etc.? I'm looking forward to have a crack at building one for myself. Do they have a name, brand? Maybe a logo contest to keep us busy
Perhaps my judgement is coloured by the experience of helping another Basschatter ship a S12T from Newcastle to Bristol in its original packaging. Suffice to say the cab did not survive the experience and suffered significant structural damage. (...)
S**T!!! Did the courier drag it by a rope attached to the bumper of the van??? My S12T survided a trip from UK to Spain and then another from Spain to Portugal and not a single scratch. In all fairness i bought a rackcased Eden WT550 amp from BC and the carrier must have dropped it on a corner because it arrived with a busted rack side and the rack ears were bent. Things like these happen and it's not the gear's fault or fragility, it's the people handling it!
