I've seen a yacht analogy used. The wind speed (power) may remain the same, but if you increase the sail area (coneage), you'll go faster.
That's what i'm trying to explain here, this analogy is wrong in the OP's POV. Using this yacht analogy think that at the same time you double the sail's area you also half the wind speed. Now wich boat will go faster? (edited)
How many Lemmy's need to be squeezed for a bottle?

Just the one I believe.
I'm sure that if you squeeze the one there will bo plenty to fill many bottles, only not oil...
I don't think you read post #5. The difference will be 6dB.
I did, i'm just trying to clarify what's the main question here. I see people answering to things as "doubling the speakers you half the impedance and get more output" and i don't think that this was the OP's question.
(...) (where in this situation this idealised amp can deliver 100 watts at 8 ohms and 200 watts at 4 ohms) (...)
I'm understanding the OP's question as to what would be the difference between using one or two cabs if this amp could deliver 100W at both 8ohm and 4 ohms. Basicly, what's the difference between using one driver and two drivers if both systems are fed with the same amount of signal/power/eq/impedance/etc. I think that the valve amp example is the best, you have two identical amps set to give exactly the same output signal (the first set at 4 ohm and the second at 8ohms) to two different speaker systems, the first with two identical cabs (8ohm each) and the second to a single 8 ohm cab identical to the other two. Wich system would sound louder? Maybe i'm wrong and didn't read well the OP.

I would go a separate route, with more than one dirt pedal i would go from the more polite to the nastier, using the OD/Dist to add detail on the Fuzz and give a bigger set of b***s. But, like everything, you need to try both combos to see what suits you better.
Because ?? (Not being facetious, it's a genuine question).
I think that this must have something to do with sound wave propagation or air movement. I can understand that, just talking about free air movement, two speakers might cause more turbulence and shift more air than a single speaker with twice the travel. Maybe it won't reach as far but it will spread more. I'll wait for the gurus with charts and equations to explain the sound wave propagation thing.
My apologies Ghost - I hadn't realised you weren't a native English speaker. And you're correct about my Portuguese !! I feel really bad now.
LOL No need for feeling bad, it's absolutely fine, i'm the first to admit that sometimes i need to google some words that i can't spell and i'm fully aware that my grammar is very poor. On another side i'm feeling a bit more confident knowing that my english spelling isn't so bad that it would immediately tell that i'm not a native speaker (writer). Cheers

You should allways get a nice smooth base for your colour coat. If the bass is currently roadworn i would imagine that it's a very rough surface so you'll need to sand it down. One tip, don't sand all the way through the bare wood, at least keep the clearcoat it has under the sunburst, it will prevent you from having to apply a filler.

rewiring my bass is this possible?
Ghost_Bass replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Repairs and Technical
Why not a simple wiring like the one found on the Yammy's BB basses. Master Volume, Master Tone and 3-Way selector for pickup (neck, both, bridge). Would do what you want and is a simple wiring. I don't like the VVT setup, for me either it has to be a Vol/Balance and active EQ or a Vol/Tone for each pickup (dependes on the type of bass) config. -
or, it seems, the spelling. (With apologies)
It's true, i need more practise, but it's easier for you to read my bad english than my good portuguese, hehehe

I think you're going hipotetical on this, from your post i got the impression that you'tre trying to know the difference between (example): 1- 100W feeding a 4ohm cab 2- 100W feeding two 8ohm cabs (assuming identical cabs and each cab is identical to the 4ohm one except for the impedance) I don't understand the phisics of this but my guess is that doubling the number of speakers you'll double the cone area so you get more air being pushed out. This will definetly get more "volume" out even with the same power being fed to both systems. I think that Bill explained the theory part very well.

I use a couple of ART312-MKII as PA tops in one of my bands and the sound is the best i've ever heard. We need a Sub upgrade though to keep up with the tops (currently running a couple of dB Technologies SUB15).

Sold a Thunderfunk to Tom. Very nice guy to deal with, excelent communications and very fast payment. A great example of why i keep buying/selling through Basschat. Can't recommend enough Hope you enjoy the TF as much as i did Tom, thank you for everything. Marco

Humm... is Sandberg lowering their standards in order to keep with the backlog?!! Very bad move from their part...
(...) On a side note, it is relieving to me to see some photographic proof that Gibson don't have a worldwide monopoly on bad/non-existent QC
They're not the only one, there's that other wich i dare not say the "F" word although people seem to find it normal and don't bother with such flaws from this manufacturer...

Go over Thomann's head and contact Sandberg directly with this issues. I'm sure that they'll take care of you and find a way to make Thomann deliver you a perfectly biuld and setup bass. It's bad enought that these passed Sandberg's QC but it's even worst that Thomann is trying to sell them. These basses need to go back to the factory and be fixed/binned.

Even if you mod that bass you're already sceptical to it's sound, i think that you'll never come to love it whatever you change on it. Some basses we love from the start and some will never do it for us. -

Yes Sandberg has now it's own brand of electronics but they still are Delano pickups and Glockenklang preamps, only "licensed to Sandberg". There will be some difference in quality because the only reason to do this is to cut on the cost so some components will be cheaper. It's probably also made in china. For me nothing beats a Glock preamp, i love their fidelity to the bass's natural sound, Delano's never were my cup of tea but i haven't tried enough to have a definitive opinion. I still think that you need to move that bass on and start looking for an older KT5. -
I could even believe the story as being true but £15.500??? No way, it would have to be at least in one piece with all original bits. Trusting that this is in fact a 64 Strat, in this condition, it should be worth around £500 and will need a LOT of tlc to come back to life. funny story though, and a good explanation for the wreck he's trying to sell.

Post some pics of the guts of that bass, please. Maybe i can help you figure out where that comes from. -
Simple bass set up yet I can never get it right!
Ghost_Bass replied to Mornats's topic in Repairs and Technical
It's a Yammy, it doesn't need a shim! Some basses are harder to setup than others due to a lot of factors (build quality and factory setup are the most common). The trick is to get the neck relief on that sweet spot. I usually set my necks straight, no relief but i had some basses on my table that needed a bit of relief so that they wouldn't buzz with the action as low as required. On really bad basses a good setup could be impossible without a proper fret dressing.
