1. Could be grounding problems on the house electric instalation or a simple interference with a device using the same power branch (kitchen appliances, light bulbs, etc.). Try it in a different room and when possible on a different house just to make sure that the amp is fine.
2. Still available, i would entertain a trade for a Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine.
3. It´s a pot with step-by-step adjustment if my memory isn't letting me down. I would try to squirt some contact cleaner spray into it first before thinking about replacing.
4. I'm not familiar with MAG series, tell me something, does it have a 12AX7 valve on the preamp? An old valve can cause big volume drops. +1 on the check EQ first: set gain at optimum level, less bass, no sub-harmonic, no bass boost, increase low-mids and set highs at taste - this would be the first thing i would try. From my experience TE cabs may be ineficient but they play very loud, you shouldn't have any problems hearing yourself with a 600W amp going into that cab.
5.

This should be fun to tune... or not... WTF Fodera, why?!!!
6. The Darkglass B3K ended my search for the perfect distortion, i bet it would do a very similar sound to using two diferent rigs. The distortion works on the mid/high freqs and the blend control retains an untouched low-end. For more tonal shaping there's the B7K.
7. Past experiences with that gear would make me lean to the TC. I didn't like the Reidmar i had, too muddy and the top end was harsh (even with mild settings). Search the FS section, lots of great class-D amps there with a "cleaner" sound and at good prices.
8. Now entertaining offers close to the 1k price. I really want to sell this one fast in order to grab another deal. Here's your chance to grab a fantastic amp
9.
Yes, they are the same pickups.
Ah, i'm about to pull the trigger on a 1025X, so the only diference between this and the 2025X is the wood treatment (and manufacture facility)? All the parts/components are the same but put together... er... in a "different" way?
10. Hi After some thought this is back up for grabs again. The lot consists in a Alembic F1-X preamp (it has been modded by the previous owner to have the power switch moved from the back pannel to the front) and a KMT DC-5 power amp bought new last december (still under warranty). I may be willing to split, depending on the offer. The amp is class-H, 1U rack, it will go down to 2ohms in stereo mode (~550W p/ channel) and 4 ohms in bridge mode (1000w). Here's the manufacturer's link: http://www.kmt-sound.de/endframe.htm The amp can also be used as a bi-amp, each channel has a switch to select between LP/FR/HP, good option to use with the F1's x-over. All the original paperwork for the amp is included. The F1-X is in very good overal condition and it's fitted with a JJ/Tesla 5157 valve in order to reduce the gain a little and have more control on the output volume. It has been modded to have the power switch moved from the back to the front pannel, much more useable this way (can be seen on the pics). A Proel 2U ABS rack is included on the sale as well as the cable to connect the pre to the power. Only downside on this is that the power amp has it's power chord connected to the chassis (no ICE socket) so if a UK buyer gets it he will have to either cut the EU plug on the cable and fit a UK one or simply use a plug converter - easy and cheap job. Prices: Withdrawn for now, i have a couple of gigs comming up where i need to use this amp so i don't want to have to refuse the sale to somebody. It will probably be back for sale by the end of the summer. Thank you
11.
Zombie thread alert! The new super BB pickups will be a superb upgrade. If you contact Yamaha, they are usually pretty helpful with this: Contact details as below and the bass guy there is Alex (can't remember his surname. Sherbourne House, Sherbourne Dr, Tilbrook, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire MK7 8BL 01908 366700
Hey Sean, just some quick questions. Are the 1024/5 pickups the same as on the 2024/5? If not, would it make that much of a difference upgrading? Can you say how much you've payed for the pickup set? Cheers Marco
12.
back again?
Yes, it's been sitting quiet in my house since January, the Promethean head has been doing all my pub gigs because it fits in my gig bag. I'm not a colector, if the gear isn't getting any use i'll sell it and find something different to try. In all fairness the TF does sound a lot better than the Promethean without having to fiddle with the EQ. Here's your chance to grab a great amp - light, powerfull and very versatile
13.
MB1. Topic Reopened! BUMP.
Thank you
14. In that case my last sugestion to you would be for you to have a word with the sound guy and show up at the next gig really early and take care of your sound and stage mix before the scheduled soundcheck for the main band. You would only have to have that trouble one time if the tech takes notes of your settings.
15. Do you have individual monitors? A good tech should be able to do a proper monitor mix and alow for everyone to hear themselves and the rest of the band on any stage...
16. Next time ignore the amp or keep it turned down and ask the tech for more bass on your monitor. No point in having that thing on if it's going to distort and muddy the stage's sound.
17. I've already posted this somewere around here but here ti goes again. I recently turned to a pre+power config for the bigger gigs and got myself a Alembic F1-X and a KMT DC-5 power amp. The amp is feeding the S12 with 1kW, bridged at 4 ohms. In total my rack weights a bit less than 15kg. The amp is class-H so i have all the bottom end but without the size and weight of a class-AB amp. Sounds lovely to my ears, it's a shame that i can't use it more often but this is completely overkill for the majority of pub gigs i'm doing at the moment. Here's a pic (again):
18.
You are right about the angle. I bought one of these http://www.thomann.d...7c7c4b3b03daf4c by accident a few years ago (don't ask) and it supports my 80lbs cab fine and dandy smack into the back of my head.
That looks great and sturdy. Good option
19.
http://www.markbass....etail.php?id=61 It folds flat for carrying.
Only works if you have enough distance from the cab to you in order to get enough angle to reach your ears. In most situations (pub gigs) we are playing with our backs agaist the cab. A table/chair/stand will be needed. I have a couple of these: I use one like shown in the pic to raise my S12T so i can get the top driver/tweeter to ear level: the other one i use with one arm taller than the other so i can get my Promethean at an angle:
