1.
I had the entire contents of a can of Coke empty in a bag that also had a Boss tuner, an EWS Tri-Logic preamp and an MXR Bass Overdrive. I was literally pouring coke out like it was a teapot. Dead for three days then suddenly back to life. There are ghosts in the machine.
Don't you know that coke cleans the circuits? You ended with free service on your gear with only a 3 day waiting period! What more could you have asked for?
2. There's no problem with the peak light coming up, as stated you only need to worry if it stays on. As for the reduction in output with age, the only reason i can think for this to be happening is due to old/worn valves. Try some new ones.
3.
Can't your eq deal with the excess bass? Having a cab on the floor shouldn't produce excess sub bass or stop you getting a tight and defined sound. Virtually all bass cabs have been designed to be used on the floor.
Unless you have a full parametric EQ on your amp you can't dial back the lower freqs that come with floor reinforcement, most amps only offer parametric on the mids. Luckily i can get away with it when i use the Thunderfunk but not with the F1X. Anyway raising the cab alwways helps me hear the bass sound better.
4.
Raising your cab off the ground is never a great idea because you lose the extra low-end efficiency you get from coupling with the floor. If your problem is hearing yourself, tilting the cab up slightly so that the sound is directed to your ears is a better option IMO.
I lift my cab off the floor to prevent this coupling from happening. I have subs up front on the PA, i don't need any more sub-bass up on stage to muddy things up and mess with the drum mics. I also prefer to hear my sound tight and defined, any trouser flapping bass is EQ'ed at taste. Different views on the same subject
5. I was on this boat not long ago. I ended buying a KMT DC5. Class-H (not very light), 1000W bridged at 4Ohms, low and deep. I like it a lot. Here's the site: http://www.kmt-sound.de/endframe.htm It's in german though... Here's how it looks on my rack:
6. I bought a Zoom B3 pedalboard from John. I'm very happy with the deal, communication was flawless and the item arrived safely and as described. Great guy to deal with. Thank you Marco
7. Hi, i don't know where to put this question so if this is not the right place i apologise. I would like to buy an amp i saw for sale on gumtree, i've sent two e-mails to the seller but i didn't recived a reply. I understand this, if i was the seller i would suspect a portuguese guy mailing me to buy my amp too. Here's the thing, i would like to know if there's any fellow basschatter on the Glasgow area willing to buy this amp and ship it to Portugal for me. Obviously i would pay for the amp plus shipping and any phone/petrol expenses. If someone is willing to do this please PM me. Regards Marco
8.
My trade offer still stands!
Thanks Luke, the Hellborg is a phenomenal preamp but i don't need another one. I could use the Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine or the Yamaha 425X/1025X (W) though.
9.
Wow, a blackface 201, these are just great pre-amps!
Yes they are and i can testify that. I've heard this one in action in Fernando's home and it sounds lovely.
10.
The amp is on this thread: http://basschat.co.u...for-this-price/ My only concern is not the power rating on the power section. Is the amp can support 4ohm but it won't take it ..... or the power section minimum load is 8ohm instead of 4ohm ...... consider this amp is very old.
Ah, now i remember. I haven't noticed that it was a preamp to wich was added a power amp section internally. But i keep my opinion, if you really like the sound of this you can have the poweramp removed/replaced with a more powerful and more modern one. If the value of the TE is worth of that it's only up to you to decide.
11. I haven't seen any pics of this amp yet... does it really exists? lol If you're not happy with the power handling just remove the added poweramp and use the preamp with another PA amp that can go down to 4Ohms.
12. I love P basses, i don't like J basses! Ready? ... Start!
13. I haven't noticed it was a shuttlemax. Yes you're right assuming that the valve is fine
14. Also, don't discard failure from the speakon cable. Use it again and go swapping cab/cable/etc. until you isolate the problem.
15. How did it died? Any pops or fart noises? Distortion? Just got muted?
16. Try replacing the valve first. See if anybody can lend you a good working 12AX7.
17.
how is this still here?
Yep, i'm puzzled too! Maybe i priced it too low and people think that there's something wrong with the amp... i should start raising the price
18.
I've a feeling he'll be either a} using his own rig, b} DI-ing, or c} very quiet
d} Still in coma!!!
19. Hi, i have a Godin Freeway 4 bass (USA) that has been defretted by top portuguese luthier, the defret job was done very well with veneer inserted on the fret gaps. I got this bass very recently on a trade but i don't get on with 4 string basses anymore. It has a very well balanced sound and a nice muah. This bass has some dings (shown in pics) and could use a shielding/grounding to remove some noise when you're not touching the strings. I won't do this job because i really want the money to invest in other gear, so you can have this for the same bargain price i got it. There's no hardcase or bag with this bass but i'll pack it very well and bombproof, in fact i take responsability for any damage it can get during shipping. I'm asking for £225 shipped anywere in UK/EU, tracking number will be provided. I want to sell this bass to gather funds for a purchase of a Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine and a Yamaha BB1025X (white), any trades appart from those two items won't interest me, but you can still take your shot. Now the pics: Cheers
