Check the two fat wires commingfrom the pickups (purple and white) and check if there's any red wire coming from them and connecting to the red wire coming either from the battery or the preamp. If there's no wire doing this then your pickups are passive. I can't say for sure from the picture you posted.

Was the deltalite that blew up already a replacement? I find it strange that a cab fitted with a deltalite 12 plus a 3012 (is it HO or LF? never heard of HF) would chuck out 800W... the math doesn't add up! From what i'm reading on this topic i'm finding these cabs to be a bit overrated on their specs... i've played with a accugroove (210 if i'm not mistaken) in the past, didn't impress me, scooped mids and not very high power, general timbre was pretty musical, nice and round.
(...) The reason the Genz is rolling off the deep lows (high pass filter), is that you really don't need that huge low end on stage...plus it also protects your speakers from huge sub bass coming through. Genz voicing on the GBE/Shuttles etc is more of tight, punchy defined low end. Much easier to use on stage IMO.
This! (As long as you use PA on your band)

Hi I have these two items surplus to my needs at the moment and i need to raise some cash to fund an incomming wedding. 1 - Ampeg SVP 1500: Great amp, it's in brand new condition. I got this recently from a musicstore where i had some credit. It was made in the 90's and spent all this time on display in that store. Has a very few hours of play. It's practicly unmarked. Doesn't have box or manual. Power ratings: Stereo operation: 280W p/ channel at 8ohm 480W p/ channel at 4ohm 780W p/ channel at 2ohm Bridge mode: 960W at 8ohm 1560W at 4ohm More info here: http://www.ampeg.com...ls/svp-1500.pdf (note - on the manual the back plate shows speakon connectors but the model i'm selling has binding posts instead) Pics: https://plus.google....CObPsZjcm9rFxwE 2 - Ashly BP-41: Doesn't need introduction, great preamp very sought after for it's high studio performance. It's in almost new condition, no scratches or rust. Has had a fair bit of use always in studio (from what i could find out). Many great names used one of these on their rig at one time in their careers. In perfect working order, no noises or signs of repairs. Info: http://www.manualsli...41e.html#manual (note - this preamp is the UK/EU 230V model but has the EU type power plug - doesn't come with a "kettle" socket, the power chord comes attached to the preamp - UK buyers will need to get an adapter) Pics: https://plus.google....CKvh8qe7srfDgQE Prices: [s]Ampeg SVP 1500 - £450 (includes EU/UK shipping)[/s] - TRADED! [s]Ashly BP-41 - £250 £225 (includes EU/UK shipping) Bundle Ampeg + Ashly - £650 (includes EU/UK shipping)[/s] - TRADED! (this is the only one available at the moment, i'll post some better ones soon) Thanks for looking Marco

Hi I've bought this on a moment of madness from the guitar player on my current band because he wanted to get a diferent guitar and i liked this one so much that i couldn't stand seeing it go away but after a few days and a lot of second thoughts i decided that i can't justify having such an expensive instrument for home use with a wedding comming next year. The guitar is in very good condition, light belt rash on the back, has bit of the plastic on the truss cover broken and a crack near a pickguard screw (shown in pics). The original knobs were replaced for original gibson replacement parts (we all know that these crack in every single Gibsn guitar...) Guitar goes with original hardcase, shipped and trackable. Asking price is £[s]1250[/s] [s]1300€+P&P[/s] SOLD!!! and at the moment i'm not interested in trades (exept for an Ibanez AKJ95 plus cash). Pics: Thanks for waching, cheers Marco

Read this: http://mail.foretold.nl/foretold/equipment/GP12SMX.pdf It's very usefull for getting to know how trace gear works (especially the EQ and compressor) and may help you obtain better results from your amp. I would buy a Trace SMX over a Ashdown any day! Cheers
I know almost nothing about amps/power/wattage etc.. so could you keep any answers reasonably simple, so someone like me can understand please? I am in the process of selling my rig because I am moving soon, and I'm not sure if I will continue playing, but if I do find a band in the nice little town that I am moving to, we will almost certainly only be playing the local pub circuit, where most of the pubs will be no more than average size. I'm not getting any younger, and I am now suffering with incurable back problems, so I want to keep my new rig as light and as portable as possible, so what would you more knowledgeable people recommend? I want to have enough power to not have to go through a PA, but I want my rig to be light and portable. Thanks in advance.
I'll have to start by saying that you have one of the best rigs for pubs. Small light powerfull. No need for PA or worry about that heavy hand drummer. If you really want to donwgrade to a smaller thing then you have to start looking on the sales forum and see what pops up. I would sugest something like a 500W amp and at least a 2x10" cab (don't go 1x12" if you plan on playing with no PA support) but a 410 would be even better. Cheap(ish) small (used) amps: GK MB500, Hartke LM500, Markbass LMII/III, Genz Benz Shuttle 6/9, TC RH450... Cheap(ish) light (used) cabs: Hartke HyDrive 1x15"/4x10", GK Neo 2x12"/4x10"... There's more but i think it will all come down to what's available on the sales forum at the moment. (P.S. - Have you read my sig? If that S12 is a T model and has the silver cloth let me have first dibs ) Cheers

Looking for a Protec Case in the Uk
Ghost_Bass replied to rainbowreality's topic in Accessories and Misc
Got a Protec Contego from Thomann. Very well buildt and tough. I can fit my 35" TRB. It also fits the Ken Smith (wider body) and any P or J type bass. It's very well put together, offers the same protection as a hardcase (the sides are reinforced, you can't fold the case like a carry bag) and it's lighter than a softcase (like the sadowsky softcases). It has a very clever strap system, you can use it as a back pack but also has a strap that secures the others when you want to carry it on your hand and prevents them to be dragging on the floor. For the price i can't see a better alternative. -
Am i allowed to use the word "Rickenbacker"...

What new high-quality PA system for pub band?
Ghost_Bass replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Amps and Cabs
In my personal experience i would go for RCF instead of Mackie any day! My band's current PA consists on two RCF ART312 tops and two dB 15SUB underneath. We couldn't afford some nice RCF subs but the tops are keepers. Never heard anything better (in fact i had, from Martin Audio and this could be a good choice for you seeing that money is no object). They're very light too, i can mount each top on its pole by myself, but with an extra hand gets a lot easier. Summing it up, forget about line arrays, if you're only going to use the PA for vocals then you just need a pair of two 12" or 15" top quality Tops working at fullrange. Calssic PA setup is the answer IMHO -

Each day going by i'm getting more and more convinced of selling my S12T and getting a BT2. Can somebody talk me out of it? The truth is that i don't need more volume or tone but i would really like to see a sexy silver cloth when i look at my rig, not a ugly metal grill... i'm a very vain person...

Conductive Paint In P'up Cavities - What's That All About?
Ghost_Bass replied to Gamble's topic in Repairs and Technical
I like using grafite spray paint. Is easy to use and gives a good finish. I normally use it to improve grounding, copper foil will do a better job at shielding but is a bigger pain in the a... to apply. This is only needed if your bass is noisy, if it's dead silent you don't need to bother with anything. -
Where did those little Promethean P110C Cabs go?...

Where did those little Promethean P110C Cabs go?...
Ghost_Bass replied to eude's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had one along with the combo. Sold them to a friend and ended up buying another combo recently. I believe my friend has his rig for sale right now, if you're interested i can try to find out how much he's asking for it with shipping costs. -
And what about one of those Morley thingies? A lot of bass players have been trading their 150Qs for them.
-
I think you won't find a truebypass wah that turns on on pressing, the SPDT is needed for that. Maybe a cheap alternative could be a loop pedal to remove the 105Q from the chain when not in use... this if you like the sound of the 105Q and want to retain that sound.
-
Ok... theEBS SC is in fact truebypass but operates with a switch: http://www.bass.se/2009/stanwah.htm
-
Isn't the EBS (stanley clark if i'm not mistaken) also switchable by placing the foot on top? I also think it's true bypass so it won't suck tone. I'm out for a little investigation...
Apparently not - its a bigger box and the waveguide compression is more than a tweeter - it covers the mid driver and tweeter territory of the Big Twin.
