The pickup is probably dead. I had that thing happen to a friend's bass that was on my table a while ago. It was a Yamaha RBX800A with the bridge (J pickup) dead, if i connected both pickups the bass would be silent, individualy the P was fine and the J only had a very faint sound on the D and G strings. Had to replace it eventually, that pickup was dead, unfortunatly there weren't any replacement from Yammy (too old model) so it got a EMG instead. I still think that the original pickup sounded better and with more punch.

Yeah, try to see if you can peel off that matt first, you could find a good finish underneath that at most would need a bit of polishing

Ah... the game it's over! I was going to say that the grill cloth reminde me what i did on my old BF Midget T where i retrofitted a grill cloth: But the stack was more like when i had two Fender rumble 112 cabs (wich were also retrofitted with grill cloth): I can say that top mounted handles are a nightmare to sit a amp on the stack. Lots of builders are doing recessed top handles (i still think that top handles are the best way to carry the cabs, 112 speaking) that should be followed by the rest. Great looking cabs WoT, you're making me get back my will to find a way to retrofit a grill cloth in my S12T... ...i think i may have a decease!

I used my bass linked directly to a Laney 300W floor monitor (equivalent to a guitar amp) for rehearsalls and i can say it was one of the best sounds i had. Tight lows, no sub-bass, and good and crisp mids and highs. I don't like to have too much sub-bass on my stage sound because that will drown everything else going on in there, i leave that job to the subs and to be heard by the audience. If you keep your EQ within the amp's limits it won't do any harm to the amp, in fact i think you might get a pleasant result with the overal band mix if you rehearse in a small room If you would like to push the lows a bit harder then you can think about something like a high-pass filter just to be sure you won't send too much sub to the amp, maybe a Thumpinator or something similar.

Help with replacing tweeter/diafragm
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Well, i decided to try the diafragm change, it's a very simple procedure to do and for the cost (10€ ~ £8) it's worth taking the shot. I'll be taking a small wire or pice of plastic and pass it round the coil gap fist so i can spread the ferrofluid to that little gap first to prevent future problems. Let's see if that'll do it. Cheers -
Help with replacing tweeter/diafragm
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hi Balcro. Alex told me that's called ferrofluid. It's not leaking but i noticed that it didn't fill the entire gap. There's a small blank space in there. Maybe that's where the coil got burned. -
Help with replacing tweeter/diafragm
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Repairs and Technical
I can get one of ebay for arround 10€ with shipping included from UK, that's a price i'm prepared to accept. Can somebody answer just the question about cleaning the voice coil gap? My mind says yes but would be reassuring to hear it from somebody else. Cheers -
Help with replacing tweeter/diafragm
Ghost_Bass replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Repairs and Technical
And in record time i got a mail from Alex saying that this is in fact an APT:80 not the 50. -
Hi, the tweeter on my Super12T has blown up. I'm sure it's the tweeter because the multimeter doesn't read anything, besides i took it appart and the voice coil gap is filled with a strange liquid substance with a brownish color wich i assume is something that melted from the voice coil... My questions are: Where can i find a cheap replacement diafragm (shipping costs to Portugal make me avoid thomann)? and Should i clean that substance from the voice coil gap or is it something that's in fact part of the tweeter (like a lubricant or similar)? Sorry for not using paragraphs, only have IE10 on this PC. Cheers
The G-K 212MBE-ll does very well all around. It has a HF horn that takes the place of tweeters. The thing about 12's that I always appreciated about them, they are so versatile, and it doesn't take an enormous volume to push, and get the sound out. Good Mids, and highs. Great lows! I feel like a kid again going back to 12's. I'm glad the amp companies are reviving the 12" driver.

I concur, I'm a tweeter guy all the way, but on the mb112 I've had to considerably cut the highs, no problem with high end extension. If its as impressive at volume then this could be a seriously good buy!
Thanks for the replys, i'll be looking forward to hear your thoughts about the 112 live Gaf. I'll be starting to look for a new combo next week and if a Promethean P5110 doesn't pop up on the used section then i'll take the plunge on the MB. I would go for the 212, it has everything one could hope for (on paper) but i already have a Super12T and a Thunderfunk, i really just need a small combo for practises/small gigs. On topic: i always prefer 12s to 10s or 15s, i think they have the best of both worlds without their flaws - enough lows but not boomy and good mid and high end without being harsh. (Also, i just found that Google Chrome lets me use paragraphs, don't upgrade to IE10 before they release a update to solve this problem.) Cheers

Hi Selling this because i don't have use for it. It will fit any 2UN 19" rack size amp (without rack ears, very tall feet could make fitting a bit more tight). Bought it to fit my Thunderfunk but i decided to keep carrying the amp on my trolley case along with cables and pedals to save me from another trip to the car. Bag is brand new, was bought a couple of months ago from USA and with shipping and customs taxes it costed a bit over £100. I'm selling it for [s]£70[/s] [s]£65[/s] SOLD with shipping included to UK/EU. I don't have any pics but i can assure you that it looks just like these: Thanks for looking, cheers

Now with chrome... here's nothing YEAH!!! IT WORKS!

Aha! I thought it was just me... yeah... Win8 and upgraded IE10... shall change to Google chrome and see if that fixes the problem.
I just got an mb112-ii. I'm a pretty much fully decided 12 hater, couldn't get along with any I've owned, I still very much found that 15's sounded 'fifteeny' and 12's sounded, well, 'twelvey'! Tens always had the punch and slam and mid sounds that I preferred without the need for much eq'ing. That included a Barefaced midgetT/compact set up among (many) others. But I have to say, that 'so far' the GK combo is the first time I've found a twelve that responds more like a ten to my ears. Very pleased so far, I bought it almost grudgingly out of nessecity (it was cheaper than the ten inch version!) But thus far I'm chuffed to bits. Expect a review once gigged!
Sorry for the off-topic but can you please tell me how does it handle the highs? I'm used to using tweeters and the lack of one in the MB112-II has been putting me off a purchase. And since i'm on off-topic can someone please explain why my "enter" key isn't working on BC? I can't do tabs on my postings or PMs... Cheers (edit: been to site issues thread and found that the paragraph problem is from W8 or IE10, i'm changing to chrome to see if that solves the problem)
