I find that intonating on my TRB5PII is as hard (or as easy) as doing it on the J/P's. Just one screw to move the saddle front/back and two bolts to raise/lower it: (pic from net)

Why not just get a TC 750 head, it has the ability to store presets and the knobs at hand to change parameters. You could get rid of the channel strip, Vamp, and power amp for a unit with a fraction of the size/weight. Later you could add a multifx unit for FX. It's all a mather of knowing if the kind of sounds the TC would offer are suitable to your needs. It has a pedal for changing presets

No... there's no tweeter on them. It would have to be two 1x12" with tweeter. At the moment the Big Baby T seems the most promising one but at 15Kg it's only 4Kgs lighter than the S12T... i'll wait to see wich new models Alex will produce in the future.

Best thing for you is to pick up a measuring tape and tell us the internal dimensions of the cabs, port size and lenght and any other relevant information. I'm sure there will be somebody around here with some minutes to spare on WinISD that can point you to the best possible drivers for those cabs.
(...) And it fits through doors without taking the skin off your knuckles!
OUCH! Just had a flashback of my old Trace rig! I can confirm everything you said about the S12T

Got these in a trade with fernandobicho but since my Super12T arived i can't justify having so many cabs. They play wonderfully and are the first Neo cabs i found wich don't have lack of low end. They're very light and absolutely as new condition. I'm selling them with brand new padded covers and the original boxes. Here are the specs and pictures shamelessly taken from Fernando's previous topic: from http://www.eden-elec.../d112xltneo.asp : EDEN D NEO SERIES The first Neodymium speakers worthy of the EDEN name. Our Bass Amp Guru founder spent more than five years developing a Neo driver that perfectly duplicates the sound of our standard drivers. In addition, he increased cooling efficiency for better performance and longer life. Now, you can enjoy the weight savings of neodymium magnets without the negative side effects, such as thin bottom end and short lifespan that plague other neo speakers. D112XLT NEO SPECS: Tweeter - E-2700 Cast Bell Crossover - 2.5KHz @ 18dB Power Handling - 250W RMS Freq. I'm not looking for something in particular but Barefaced cabs (one of the small ones, Big Baby T prefered) or a bass [s]from 1981[/s] will be something i'll take in to big consideration. The cab passed the gig test with flying colours. The sound was defined, punchy and with lots of low-end. In fact i used my rig a bit louder than usual and nobody complainted. It was great to feel all that lovely bass sound kicking me in the back. I'm not repeating this any time soon because i came from that gig with a small hearing loss on the higher registers I'm OK now Used the cab raised on a chair and no lows were lost, it could have been a bit higher so i could hear the tweeter better but that could just be me starting to loose that bit of high hearing. Once i plugged it the drummer immediatly said that that was a loud cab, during gig he frequently looked at me smiling and nodding his head. I'm sold on this one, it could have a bit more highs (i'm using the tweeter maxed out) but maybe i'm still not used to it comming from a MidgetT who has more highs. If i ever sell it it will be on the day that Alex can produce a 2 cab rig that together can play as loud and as low as the Super12T. It's still a bit big for me to cart upstairs to my studio...
That's not an Ex-Factor, that's a Key Factor 5 - I know because I have one! Ex-Factors tune at the bridge with a massive proprietary system which was never adapted for 5 strings. They also have a shorter scale -32" I think with 36" scale being used for the two extra frets on the E string, allowing it to go down to a D. Ex-Factor necks are made with many thin laminated maple strips. Key Factors tune at the headstock using special Schaller mini tuners which have guitar- sized buttons. Also due to the narrow width of the headstock (same width as the neck) some of the tuners are wound the opposite way from normal although all the buttons turn in the normal direction. Key Factors are 34" scale and the necks are one piece maple with a rosewood or maple board. Key factor bodies have a flat top with none of the elaborate sculpting seen on the Ex-Factor. Kubickis have a really interesting tone circuit with various different passive modes and two different active modes. Like Steinbergers, they are also great basses. Ed
Thanks for that. In my very short knowledge of the brand all Kubickis are born equal, lol. But if i'm not mistaken they share similar electronics, isn't it? You're right about the diferences, i've never noticed the model issue because i never was drawn in to the design of these basses, but they do sound great!

I recently got some Eden gear, a WT-550 and a pair of D112XLT Neo cabs (thay aren't heavy at all) and it was quality gear but not the kind of sound i was looking for. The sound and build quality are top noch, i can't fault it. Definetly worth a looking when searching for new gear. Eventually my Thunderfunk+Super12T rig took priority due to a bit more mid range clarity and punch and less low end but if i still was gigging the Eden Rig i would be perfectly happy with it.
(...) Kubicki Ex-Factor: Incredible design and can be picked up for virtually pocket money right now. They didn't need to make a 5 with the fingerboard extension but if they did, I would have one. (...)
They did make a 5 string, i know it for a fact as a friend of mine has one. Look at the first bass on the stand in the back

lol, no man, STL-9.0 means Shuttle 9.0, i believe that the streamliner is named STM-900 or something similar But to answer your question i'll be using the Thunderfunk, i'm loving it, its more open than the shuttle and doesn't sound as compressed but i wont be parting the Shuttle any time soon, it's the best digital amp i've tried and has a very clean sound. I believe this calls for another bit of bass porn: cheers

Ok, first impressions; F*CK!!! This thing can play! It's seriouly loud. One of the things i was affraid was not having enough low end (having owned a Midget in the past) but there's no reason to worry about that. A full range sound, well balanced, enough low end (i say enough because it won't be the best cab for dub) very clear mids and some of the best highs i've heard in ages. Really good, i can't wait to cracnk the volume on tonight's gig! Comparing to the Epis i can say that this cab is more balanced and doesn't suffer from the scoop in the mids that Epi has. The low end is close to the one un the UL212 and so is the weight (i'm a small guy and could carry it during a short distance in one hand). I would say that the Barefaced will cut more in the mix and will sound a bit louder, its all about the mids, the scoop on the Epis is probably the best designed one i've heard, it really sounds great but i prefer that my cabs put out what's going in and the S12 is excelent at that. More to come, still have to pass the gig test!
Have any of you guys gone from 2 Epi UL112-2 cabs to an S12-T? If so tell me more as am wavering!
Close, i had a UL212 - series 2 and briefly also had a UL210 - series 1 on loan. I'll do my best to explain the diferences.
Ha! I assumed from the thread resurrection that you had ordered it months ago! Excellent recycling!
I just bumped the topic because i intend to do my review of this cab in the next days
Brilliant. These are killer cabs. How long did you wait, btw?
well... 3 days... It was bought 2nd hand from electriccheese here in BC
-
Mine's here!
-
Good point Pete, i haven't remembered about that. Using the mute switch you can also have the cabs wired to the head (so you don't need to be constantly connecting and disconnecting cables) but not being used while you're playing through headphones.
-
You could get away using just one 210 on the majority of gigs you will be playing. 2 cabs will be more than enough for the tipic pub gig without PA support. I only use one 1x12" for pubs and never needed more, of course, having another cab available is always better
-
I say buy the Focus, we need some reviews of them on BC!
-
These amps (and a lot of similar ones) don't "need" to have a load connected to function safely, that's more important on valve amps, that's why the headphones doesn't mute the cab, you can simply use the head with phones. The mute feature is more common in combos where you can't detach the head from the cab. Don't worry and use it.
