1. I know it's a signature model and has to look like the original but i've always hated that pickguard, it would have been nice to reshape it now that there's no need for that extra chunck of plastic to cover the battery! Does Marcus personal basses really have the battery front loaded? I don't think so, even knowing for sure that his roadies probably use new batterys for each gig it would be a PITA to have to unscrew and screw back the plastic cover every time and the threads on the wood would start to become loose with time! Anybody has any insight on this? Just out of curiosity.
 2. They haven't even bothered writting the word "OFF" on the power switch!
 3.
I wonder if removing the 4 screws at the top would allow it to tilt outwards & then be lifted up?
If that head was detachable then the cables for power, DI and ext cab would be linked on the top plate... a bit akward looking...
 4. from the pic it seams that you use the PPB for overdrive and the SFT for a more agressive sound, if that's the case just swap their order on my previous list
 5. It could have something to do with the order you link the pedals or not. Another big issue is to know what exactly you use each pedal for and how you would like to use more than one at the same time. If i had your board i would be using it like this: 1. TU2 - for all the obvious reasons; 2. Octamizer - i find that octavers work better with clean signal straight from the bass. less tracking issues; 3. BMC - using it here i could tailor both the clean bass and the octaved bass tone; 4. SFT - because a drive after octave and before filter works great, also i would always use it before the fuzz; 5. PPB - explained on the SFT 6. Proton - the filter sounds great with octave and/or fuzz before 7. chorus - always on the end of all fx 8. TLC - i always use the compressor on the end of the chain thus giving me control over the entire range of sounds produced on the board and alowing for the clean tone from the bass to go through the fx units and enhancing the dynamics. It's just a game of trial and error, you just need to fing the pedal order that suit your needs better
 6.
Prize for the ugliest thread title ever?
7. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/189688-ibanez-promethean-p3110/ Topic started on the Ibby, lets leave this one get back on topic
 8.
it looks fab, but the lack of a removable head kills it for me. But then... if it's on a par with the 5110 (more reliable, even!) it'll be a hell of a combo for £300.
Even better/cheaper if we wait for the HB/RS clones!
 9. Another thing, the head doesn't seem to be detachable like it's older brother, i can't see any screws alowing decoupling from the combo, i've thought they could be hidden on the sides but after pulling out the second pic i can see they're not.
 10. First thing to notice, after reading through the sites one can be lead to believe that the standalone combo is working at 300W @ 4ohms or even from a badly written paragraph on thomann one could be lead to think that it accepts a 4 ohm external cab. THIS IS NOT TRUE! The amp runs 300W @ 4Ohms but the speaker in the combo only has 8ohms so you can add another cab aslong as it is a 8 ohm cab, it can be seen on the picture of the back of the combo posted above.
 11. Hi, this is been discussed on another topic so this is to end that off-topic. Ibanez launched a new Promethean combo. The P3110, a combo with 10" speaker, 300W@4ohms and a few mods to the first model. Here are some links: http://www.ibanez.co...ics/model-P3110 http://www.thomann.d...banez_p3110.htm There have been some misleading information both on the website and on Thomann, hopefully we could get to the bottom of them all in this topic. Here are some pics: Fire away!
 12.
http://www.ibanez.co...ics/model-P3110 - states "Plus, the fire-red amp head can be easily detached without any tools"
That's written in the first paragraph and that's regarding to the entire Promethean line. My guess is that they haven't updated it for the new line. From the pic i've posted it doesn't show any sign of a detach mechanism on the head without using a screwdriver but that could be implemented on the sides of the amp and i've not noticed it yet!
Thomann claim that the combo is 4ohms and the speaker out is 4ohms also. Surely that's dangerous misadvice if wrong? http://www.thomann.d...banez_p3110.htm
Yep, Thomann should have written it in a clearer way, people that are used to handle bass gear will know bwtter but some newbie could be mislead, once again, in the pic i've posted we can clearly read "8 ohm min" on the ext cab output. Time for a topic on this combo perhaps?
 13.
Does that make this... the best bass for metal?
Dont know about the "best" but it would certainly be amongst the "uglyest" on my list!
 14.
Less watts yes, but 50W more in the combo than last time (old one was 250W because of 8 ohm speaker in the combo, 500W with 4 ohm cab).
Nope! The amp has a speaker out (min 8 Ohms) so the internal combo speaker must be a 8ohm one pushing out only 180W(ish) from the amp: It's weaker than it's older brother, has less controls and the head is not detachable on this version. I would still go for a P5110 if i find the need for one (i had one ) cheers edit: xgsjx beat me to it
 15. Well... my Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 clearly states on the manufacturers site, manual and on it's backplate 900W !!!
 16.
As spotted on Talkbass, Fodera's new string packaging lists the gauges as 0.40, 0.60, 0.80, 0.100. (It took me a moment to spot the error.)
17. Is it made in Japan? Will you consider shipping to Portugal? I've been looking for one of these for some time. Nice looking bass BTW Regards
 18. iI would go for the Ibby, i had the 5 string version of that bass and it sounded huge. Can't go wrong with that.
 19. I'm liking this one a lot: The only thing lacking is a instant price generator for the bass we put together
 20.
Wish they'd had this configurator in June when I was trying to choose which to order:
Now you only have one option left, buy the other one aswell!!!
 21. Played one of these and loved the sound but the body shape made it very uncomfortable and a no go for live playing: BTW, i pulled this pic from google but i believe it comes from somewere within BassChat (edit: and the one i've tried wasn't a lefty, ) I think BRX nails it right here:
And a body shape that suits one person doesn't always suit others. There are several well-known shapes (especially basses) that I find completely uncomfortable. Weird pointy shapes aren't always uncomfortable. The best bass (or guitar) for metal is the one with the right image, a suitable sound and playability to suit you. While not traditional "metal" both Ted Nugent and Alvin Lee play hard and heavy rock with semi-acoustic guitars.
22. Hi, i've got a Wonderlove but i found that the Mutron sound isn't what i'm looking for, i like the Meatball sound of my GR1 better so the Wonderlove is up for grabs. It goes with full package and paperwork, it's as new, no scratches or dents. [s]I'm mainly looking for a trade for a GR2 plus, lets say, £50~60€ (sent as paypal gift and in euros) shipped anywere in Europe.[/s] I can think about selling it if a GR2 doesn't pop up, just send me a PM with your offer. The mandatory pics will follow this evening. THE PEDAL IS NOW SOLD, THANK YOU
 23. Having moved from a 2x10 + 1x15 Trace stack to a single Midget T under a Shuttle 9.0 i can say that my sound had a big improve in definition and portability. It works better for my pub gigs than the old Trace tower and nobody ever complained they couldn't hear the bass (quite the opposite very frequently ), i'll go lightweight any time unless i find myself on a situation where i'll be playing in a big stage with roadies to carry my gig, i think i'll order a Super12T from Alex if that ever comes up!
