Wow, jealous! Just got my order in, you mind me asking how long you waited?
Ordered on April 03 and delivered on May 23. In the middle there were a couple of days of delay caused by a misplacement of funds by the UK bank but all solved! Mind that mine was sent to Portugal so you wont have to wait that long for yours, especially if you have the possibility to pick it up in person.

Arived this week! If i was already thinking that my EBS Neo cabs were super hi-fi and stupidly loud for their size this cab came and raised the bar a couple of steps! I only used it at bedroom levels but with the same bass and amp settings i can clearly notice that the Midget is louder (more sensitive driver) and has a flatter response (it was only after this AB that i could really notice a bit of a high-mid scoop on the EBS cabs). Now i'm almost sure i found MY sound! All that remains is to rehearse and gig it in a rage rampage! Monday i'll post the outcome of this weekend's practice and a week later i'll review it's behaviour in a gig. Very happy bunny here! Thank you Alex, the waiting was worth it!

This always worked for me!

Not really a choice here... just go with the maple fretboard!
-
But you can change them for taller ones! I'm guessing you have the same problem most of us have, to place the head on top of a cab where the manufacturer cleverly (or not) designed a handle... don't know why they keep doing that f******g sh**t, it's so easy to do a recessed handle like the ones on the Promethean gear...

Why a string tee on the back of the headstock instead of the common strap button?!!
-
I'd say get the three! Jack is the only sane person around here!

How much are 2nd hand MIM Fender going for these days?
Ghost_Bass replied to KASH's topic in Bass Guitars
Hyjacking this topic, what about a Classic 50's P (MIM too)? How much could they fetch? I'm thinking about putting mine up for sale and am trying to determine a fair price for it with the mods i made (deluxe humbucker added on bridge position, new electronics alpha/orange drop wuth concentric vol/tone pots for each pickup and two resistors to eliminate crosstalk between pickups...). Cheers -
The reason I ask is that the Promethean - quite reasonably - has a protection circuit which temporarily shuts the power down if it's being pushed too hard. I've triggered it a couple of times, but only while mucking around in the house to see how hard I could drive it - it was at volumes which aren't of any practical use.
That's a common and very usefull feature in any amp, not a bad thing. It keeps us from spending a lot of money on repairs... If a amp is cutting out then we should start thinking about replacing/adding cabs or upgrading to a more powerfull head. I remember having a couple of cut outs from my old 300W Trace Elliot... after learning how to set the gain correctly and EQ properly never had that problem again!

Bass rigs-the bigger the better in my experience.
Ghost_Bass replied to daveparker123's topic in Amps and Cabs
Sounds like you like the sound of your playing and your bass, so like transparency, rather than a bunch of mess to cover it up.
You're right! On top of that i also keep the amp, bass and whenever the room alouds the mixer's EQ flat, only balance knob and right hand controling the tone. I (wish i could) play everything from rock to funk to jazz... -
Bass rigs-the bigger the better in my experience.
Ghost_Bass replied to daveparker123's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have the opposite opinion, i've had a lot of amp gear and the smaller and lighter they got the better they sounded, IMO and IME! Here's the gear i owned ordered from worst to better sounding: Heads: Trace Elliot GP12-X > Ibanez Promethean > EBS Reidmar > Genz Benz STL9.0 Cabs: Trace Elliot 1x15" + 2x10" > Fender Rumble 112 (x2) > Genz Benz STL-12T > Ibanez Promethean 1x10" (x2) > EBS Neo 112+110 > (waiting for a Barefaced Midget T but i'll bet it will belong here) Appart from this gear i've tried a lot of the other stuff in numerous bass bashes (TC, Markbass, Epifani, Shroeder, Fender, Ampeg, Mesa, Warwick, Tecamp, Glockenklang, Walter Woods, AER, ...), appart from the really boutique stuff there's no other gear that delivers MY sound on stage like my current setup. Every time i had to play with a big rig behind me MY SOUND lost definition and managed to flood the stage with too much lows... horses for courses! -
Where to find a 500k / 500k stacked spilit-shaft pot?
Ghost_Bass replied to Fionn's topic in Repairs and Technical
http://www.axesrus.com/axeElectronicsPots.htm scroll down the page, you'll find split shafted alpha pots with the 500k, they're log pots, hope that works for you! -
IMO, the thing here is that people are comparing the E string from a 4 string passive bass to a 5 string active one (vintage fender 4 stringers vs most 5's wich are active) so i'm thinking it will be a mather of personal taste and tone of the instrument and not interaction of the low B... Has anyone compared the exact same model of bass with the same electronics on it's 4 and 5 string version and can confirm this rumour?
Hmm, I'd be rather surprised if that is the driver used in the combo since that's really a dedicated midrange driver. On the other hand, it IS a pretty small box. Perhaps the user who I got the info from was mistaken or, which I guess is just as likely, the spec has changed. That neo Beyma is about as powerful a 10" bass driver as you can get btw - if that's what's in the extension cabs then it's better than anything else I've seen on the market!
The one in the extension cab i'm pretty sure it's the one in the link (the frame is exactly the same to the last detail), not sure about the one in the combo. The ext cab sounded great and loud but not much quality bass being pumped. My current EBS Neo 110 is louder, clearer and with more usable bottom end (of course it's more expensive too...). My guess is that ibanez is using a "cheaper" custom version of the Beyma drivers i've linked. I'll see if i still have some pics of the drivers stored somewere to show you.
I've been caught out in the same way about things in the past... I only trust what the manufacturer has to say about any piece of equipment now!
Unless they're spec'ing power ratings!
I have looked up in the forum but could not find an answer to this question. I am considering hooking a 500w head (@ 4ohm) up to two 8 ohm cabs. One being 400w and the other being 200w. Is this the sort of thing that is okay or will the amp put out 250w to each and possibly damage the 200w cab? I think i have described that correctly, any help apreciated. Bazeley
Can you tell us wich cabs and future amp are these? From your sig i'll bet that the cabs are the GK BLX's, if that's the case i think they wont work so bad together, i want to believe that GK did some effort to try to put out a line that can be mixed and mached with fairly good results! As for the power handling just trust your ears and EQ it so that you can avoid farting. Honestly i can't see a situation where you'll have to max out a 500W amp unless you're playing an outdoor gig without FOH support! I would say to get the amp first, try it with your cabs and then according to the results decide on the cab's fate. Cheers

Prometheans are Beyma loaded! this one for the combo: http://profesional.beyma.com/pdf/10MI100E.pdf and this for the extension cabinet: http://profesional.beyma.com/ingles/pdf/10LW30N.pdf I hope i haven't given you the wrong link for the combo's driver but i'm sure about the ext cab's driver. I had both combo and extension cab and took out both drivers and searched for it's origin landing on Beyma's site! Cheers

I have the compact version of this, i'm currently running a GB 9.0 through Neo 110 and 112. They couple just fine, no problems with the sound and i've AB'ed them and can say that the voicing and power handling are almost identical, with both on it just sounds the same but with more headroom!

Don't know if anybody sugested this befora but why don't you get another EBS Neo, possibly a 110. That way you know you'll have a great sound and can use the cab to pair with your 112 for bigger gigs!

See if Thurbs can get you the ebay seller name or nickname so you can contact him and see if he has more info about the bass.

From this thread i see that i got mislead from the pic you've posted earlier, what i thought was a truss cover with some writting on it is in fact the truss cavity with some light reflections... the mistery thickens...
