1. Can you find the links for the previous sales threads so that we see if we can get bigger pictures? Also, you could try to remove the neck to see if theres any writing on the pocket or take the lid of the electronics compartment to see if there's anything that could identify the bass. Posting pics here would be very helpfull.
2. Can you source the missing truss cover from one of the previous owners? Or at least see if they remember the writting on it, being BC members i wonder why they haven't already chipped in...
3. It's a bit of Warwick gear, problems are expected everywere! There, i said it! Now bring out the angry mob with torches and pichforks!
4. PROS: 1. It's beautyfull 2. Plays great, very fast neck 3. Has the feel of a luthier bass in a production bass 4. Has MY sound, everything i was looking for in a bass and some more and all this with EQ set flat 5. Only turning the balance knob i can get alll the array of sounds i was looking for (add to this the position of the right hand and the tonal possibilities are unlimited) 6. Has a piezzo that's very usefull for compensating the aging of the strings 7. It's fairly light 8. Battery changes in seconds 9. Keeps in tune for weeks even stored in its case 10. Did i mentioned it's BEAUTYFULL??? CONS: 1. Drains a battery every 4 to 6 months... I'm never parting with this bass except if by any kind of divine intervention it gets stolen, broken or if somebody offers me a Smith BT5 in exchange... Cheers
5. What's written on the truss rod cover?
6.
I use my Reidmar with an EBS Neo 210 and it's plenty loud (for small gigs). Much louder than my old Mark Bass LMIII. Very deceptive and shockingly powerful for a 250w head. I have even used it through my Pro 410 cab with great results. I love EBS cabs as they suit my tone requirements very well. My tone is very flat and I don't get that problem and I can really crank the cabs, but I have read feedback on the interweb from other players that play with a fuller tone struggling with break up in the lower frequencies. I have used the Reidmar through an Ampeg PN 210 and it definately had much more balls in the bottom end. I have also played the Reidmar through a Berg 112 at Bass Direct a few weeks ago and sounded awesome. If you are planning to add a second cab to the Reidmar I would stay away from the EBS Neo cabs as they are 4ohm thus limiting you to one cab. The Classic cabs are 8ohms and have a rounder tone than the Pro and Neo models. I have read that the Classic 110+112 is a very tasty configuration and quite pokey. Plus, they are very good value for money! Both of those cabs (combined) cost less than my Neo 210!!
Sorry for the correction but both EBS Neoline 110 and 112 are 8 Ohm cabs!
7.
I exclusively used a 6 for years, but never got rid of my old faithful 4 banger. In my opinion, every bassist should have one in the house. Sometimes even a 5 simply isn't appropriate. I use my 4 string at the moment in the cover band as I go from standard to drop tuning a lot... I find Bb Db Ab Db Gb way too confusing to play in! I use the 5 when I need the B, and the 6 when I need A!
What about a capo on the 2nd fret so you'll get Db/Gb/B/E/A? It gives a more natural and instinctive playing than to have to compensate for the detuning on the E string when moving on to the A sting. Using the capo you'll also end up with better string tension and that will reflect on the quality of your sound! You can always ditch the capo and tune a 5er a hole step up! Yes, it's true, i don't get along with drop tunnings... Cheers
8. Where should i start... Reidmar - i had one for a short period but had to let it go because i needed a second cab (EBS Neo 112) it's no way near underpowered, it just keeps on pumping sound. Think 250 of Trace Elliot watts, it can get pretty close to that! EBS Neo 112 - mine should be ariving any day now, i have the Neo 110 and it reproduces lots of low end and has lots of power handling. I never heard it fart out but i never put anything below 80Hz in my cabs, that freqs won't do anything noticeable and only produce sub-bass that will make any cab fart. If you're in to that kind of sound i would sugest getting a sub-woofer for that Glockenklang - the only rig i heard (not sure about the head and cab models anymore, cab had 15"+6"+T) played very well and loud but it didn't rocked my world, don't think they justify the price tag even though they really are top noch gear. I'm also waiting for my Midget T to be build by Alex so once i get it i will be able to compare it with the EBS, if you're willing to wait a month i'll be able to make a short review of both cabs! Cheers
9. I'm on 5's for the past 12 years and ain't never going back to fours. In fact i find string spacing and narrow neck on fours to get a lot in the way of my playing... My most recent bass upgrade was to trade my 4 string accoustic for a 5er (also accoustic). I'm not all over the B string every time but those occasions where it will come in handy happen very often and it's very good to have it at hand. This is a mather os personal taste, you need to choose the bass that feels right for you. Whatever you choose i would say to keep both yous basses with equal amount of strings just in case you have to pick up your backup just to find that there's an extra string getting in your way / there's a string missing for playing that song (choose one). Cheers
10. http://www.zcatpedals.com/?dir=view&id=200910290108414IHj This one seems good and cheap.
11. You're probably right, but the way the bass will sound won't depende solely on the cap, the combo pickup/bass also has something to do with the final sound that's why i told you that the best way to know for sure is to try various caps, who knows if you end up with one even bigger than .1uf!!! Also, if you're aiming for Jamerson's sound you could get away with it by simply stucking a piece of foam or cloth beneath the stringas, close to the bridge, so you can get a mute on your bass!
12. Just mentioned this bass in another post, its a Classic 50's P bass that i modded with a deluxe humbucker and stacked vol/tone for each pickup: Cheers
13. I recently rewired a Classic 50's P bass and played around with caps, here are my findings: - .1uF : it rolls off lots of treble, think dub, pretty cool! - .047uF : the "standard" P-bass tone; - .022uF : rollf of just a little treble, keeps your bass with some nice mids; The choice its a matter of personal taste, i ended up going with the .1uF cap because i added a Deluxe Humbucker on the bridge position and loved the mix of that with the P rolled of (i wired the bass with the '62 Jazz diagram, with stacked vol/tone for each pickup). In the end of the day you'll have tho get some caps (orange drops are great) and try them to find the one that suits you best.
14. My first bass was a used Maison (precision copy) with plywood body build in the early nineties, i'm currently playing with a Yamaha TRB5PII... i still have that Maison with me for sentimental values but there is no way i would go back giging with it!
15.
A Neo 110 with even the quietest drummer would be (as a good friend of mine would say) fart city. The laws of physics and acoustics must be different in Portugal.
Nope! I don't dial sub-bass on my sound and i don't push the bass boost on my GB and i can still hear more than enough bass, in fact i have more bass from the Neo 110 than i ever had from the Shuttle 12T cab!!! If i wanted to make the walls shake and roofs collapse i would have stick it my old Trace Elliot rig... As for the laws of physics i prefer to take the best advantage of them rather to go on overkill mode...
16. We did a 200+ gig last friday, i used GB and the Neo 110 (112 still on it's way) and i could hear my bass perfectly but in those harder moments i can't tell if i'm pushing the cab too hard so i decided to get another one so that i won't take the risk of damaging the 110 before the midget arives (when i gat the midget it will also be used alone if i fancy it over the EBS ones). I like to travel light!
17. Nope, we're a funk/soul project! We have our own PA, bass amp is only for stage monitoring (and i should add that my drummer doesn't slaughter his drum), don't you guys use PA!!!
18.
?
I should have said that i found that i need more cone area than amp power, my single Neo 110 isn't enough for a live gig and the 9.0 has enough power to drive the cabs to the volume i need on stage.
19. Well, my first experience with the Reidmar ended with me returning it to the shop and getting a Neo 112 instead. I found that i needed more headroom and not more power. After trying to find excuses to keep it with me i left it up to the band to decide wich amp should i keep. I reheased with both amps and the decision and everybody prefered the 9.0. The reidmar has more of everything in comparison with the shuttle, it has more power, more bass and more high but that extra bass was muddying my band's sound even after i rolled off the bass knob, the GB just has a tighter low end. another point for the GB was that i can get my sound with it set flat, on the Reidmar i had to reach for the Eq instantly. Playing alone the Reidmar sounds better but in the mix the GB cuts trough better and is more defined. I still want a Reidmar in my arsenal for those occasions when i'm playing an outdoor gig and need that extra power but the cab is more important for now because my midget is still on the production cue. I'll be checking the sales forum to see when they start to pop up in there
20. EBS Neoline cabs also do a great match with GB. Punchy but tight and defined, very transparent.
21.

Do you realize that you oversprayed on Shep's (pantherairsoft) next pedalboard?!!
22. You should check (and replace) the battery, i know it's not the same bass but my TRB5PII eats a lot of battery (one every 4-6 months depending on use).
23. Try replacing the valve if you have one at hand or see if a friend lends you one just to try (i'm assuming the LH500 has a 12AX7 on its preamp).
24. I settled with the Wren&Cuff Pickle Pie B, sounds perfect for me.
