1. Hi, it's like stated on the title, i'll trade my Thumb for a Barefaced Super12T, i would prefer the vintage cloth but if it comes with the metal grill i'll live with it or apply some cloth on my own. The bass has been gigged but plays perfectly, only the normal minor scuffs here and there. Here are some pics of when it came to my hands (it has been cleaned, oiled, restrung and setup since so it looks a lot better now): https://picasaweb.go...298410563256562 Trade includes international shipping as i live in Portugal. Cheers Marco EDIT: NOW SOLD, THANK YOU!
2. [rant] I don't know and don't want to discuss the efectivness of the gramma pads but i must say that they are too expensive. You can build one as just good with a tiny fraction of the cost, here's what you need: - a piece of ply-board cut in the mesure you need; - a piece of carpet; - two chunks of hardcase foam (don't know the real name but it's the foam they apply inside the hardcases, the dark-grey one); - contact glue; construction: Just cover the ply with the carpet and them glue the bits of foam on the bottom! There you have it!!! It's funny how i see some BC'ers building cabs and modding they basses but then go and spend a small fortune in something like this... [/rant]
3. The main reason is that it's very dificult to find a 4Ohm 12" neo driver on the market. I've had that same question a while back and i couldn't find one on the web... do manufacturers actualy do them?!!
4. FITS DOESN'T FIT (but i believe that a few models might fit)
5.
Do you have to make any mods to it to make it run on UK power or can you just use one of those adaptors that sit on the plug you can get at the airport?
If it is like my Shuttle 9.0 (and i bet it is) you have a switck on the backpannel where you can change between 110V and 230V. It's the little red thingy on the pic: Edit: Oh, and you have to use a different Kettle lead to fit UK's plugs (at least i did, i don't know if UK's plugs are the same as USA).
6. [shameless plug] I have a Thumb BO-5 that i'm selling, PM me for details if you're interested. [/shameless plug] The thumbs have a sound of their own, like someone said it's the "Warwick Sound" but someone also mentioned that they feel a bit strange due to its format. I played a few times with mine and it is a bass that plays very well with low and fast action, after a couple of minutes you get used to the different body contour. The sound is very good (dare i say huge) but is very especific and i can't get along with it, i perfer the versatility of my TRB because the sound is not so self imposing in the mix! I find that after some time playing with it i get tired of that sond but if i try to EQ something diferent it still retains that core tone that i can't cope with. W's are not for me... Cheers
7. Hi, i bought a MXR M82 pedal from Jose. Pedal arrived exactly as described and on time after international shipping. It was a real pleasure to do business with this gentleman, i highly recommend! Cheers
8. Get one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2WOOIZXNks"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2WOOIZXNks
9. Ibanez Tubescreamer TS9B! The clean blend will allow you to retains some good clean definition on your sound.
10.
If you're planning on getting the MXR gear then I'll buy your Pickle Pie B and the 3Leaf pedal.....as has been said, they are probably the best fuzz and filter pedals around..... MXR Octave and Compressor pedals are very good but not sure about the others.....I tried them all and ended up with only the Octave Deluxe as it has the best tracking of any Octave pedal around....only reason I didn't get the compressor is that it's hard to beat my Rothwell Love Squeeze for simplicity, low noise level and the fact it doesn't colour my tone....
Thanks for all the replies... you're not helping with my GAS and my bank account though... If i decide to sell any of those pedals i'll send you a message Cheers
11.
Yes and yes. G &L? Sandberg? Lakland? Dingwall? Spector? Not heard many Qc related gripes about any of these. Then there's the likes of Status, Vigier, Modulus, Alembic, Sadowsky and so on. Btw, has anyone ever had a naff Yamaha?
Never heard of such thing!!! What an outrage!!! Not true, some RBX's were known to have battery drainage problems, i could never tell if that was true or if it was a poor use by the owners though. My TRB-5PII has a slight problem, the individual string saddles were routed a bit off-centerd from the bass's and neck's alignment, just about a mm but it can be seen if you compare the laminated on the neck trough with the saddles. It plays like a dream and intonates perfectly but if i was buying it new i would have sent it back! Cheers
12.
I found the blend on the MXR M82 really useful but just did not like the sound of the filter - very trebley (is that a word?) and lacking a little in depth if I was honest. A Boss LS2 would enable you to blend some dry signal with any filter though so why change?
Tht's what i'm affraid of the MXR, i get the feeling that it still may not have the same bottom (in lack of a better word) than the GR! The LS2 is out of the question, besides the fact that it would mean another pedal on the board (i want to minimize it) it doesn't have true-bypass, if i was to take this route i would me more unclined to a Z.CAT Blender: http://www.zcatpedal...910290108414IHj Cheers
13. Well, after a long list of pedals i've settled on this board: (signal chain from right to left) The Proton arrived to take my GR's place and reduce the size of the board but he's not up to the (huge) task he was required to do so i've decided to try the MXR M82 Envelope Filter that was for sale on the sales forum. Here's where the things got complicated... whilst scouting the net for info and reviews of this pedal i've come across the rest of the MXR's bass innovations range and i liked the look of the fuzz and compressor pedals... i now have serious GAS for an all-MXR setup! Something like this: (now, if they were to build a tuner...) I'm hopping that someone will talk some sense into me and stop me from spending more money on those little magic boxes... Cheers
14. I LOVE my GR and the only reason it's not in my board is because i wanted to see if i could get a similar sound from the Proton and gain (in fact loose) pedalboard realestate! The Proton wasn't able to take it's place... I agree completely with Shep's description of the Proton vs GR, right on the spot! I think i can see some (not much) use for the blend on the GR2 that's why i have the MXR on it's way - cheaper way to see if the blend is helpfull! I'm now starting to feel a new GAS comming up from the MXR side, their range has everything i need and i'm dreaming on a all-MXR pedalboard... humm... not for this topic, i think i'll start a new one to see if anybody can put some scense in my head...
15. Me too, i'm waiting for the arrival of my new(ish) MXR M82 thus leaving me with 3 wha's !!??? (3Leaf GR, 3Leaf Proton and MXR M82) and i'm still thinking that i should sell all of them and get a GR2...
16. I'll let him know about your sale and leave it to him to contact you, thanks! Cheers
17. Hi Razze, are you willing to ship internationaly? I have a friend of mine looking for one of these, i just want to be sure you'll ship before i give him the heads up! Cheers
18. Ghost_Bass

Fuzz!

I have the Pickle Pie B and it's very good, the best i had but i'm liking the looks of the new MXR too... damm GAS!!!
19.
Order another fender and send another bc'er in your place (who's either going anyway or lives next door) to check it over for you?
^ This! I was just reading to the end of the page to leave you with this reply but Charic beat me to it!
20. From the pics a get the feeling that it's a simple passive J with a MM'ish pickguard. It only has 3 knobs and if you look closer to the PG you see that there are no screws to remove the battery wich makes me think that there is no battery routing whatsoever. Another thing is that it lacks the pickup cover on the neck PU! For the price it could be a nice 5 string J bass to use and even upgrade but it all would come down to it's tone, finish quality and feel!
21. I can't seem to find them, is it on UK's ebay or international? Can you PM me the link please?
22. I never sell a bass without setting it up with new strings (cheap addario's) and giving it a good clean but i too expect to have this work everytime i buy a used bass. Come to think of it even when i bought new basses i had to set them up and restring them! It's all part of the way people take care of their material and how they are used to play it, for the guy selling your bass he was happy to gig it in that conditions so he thought it was good and ready for stage!
23.
That's a real shame. I guess it's very hard to strike the balance between making enough to make a mark without wasting money if they fall on their arse. Seems they struck gold with the quality and price point, but didn't risk big enough to grab a real market share. You never know, something might be in the pipe for Summer Namm... Eude
I had a P500 combo+extension and sold it because i wanted something with 12" cabs but one of the main reasons that precipitated my sale was taking the lid of the head off and comparing it to my Shuttle, The Ibby was buildt with cheap (read chinese) components and they weren't very well put together - bent components soldered to the pcb, knackered jack socket thread. The sound was very good although a bit coloured to sound more beefier, the finish was superb, the knobs seemed a bit fragile, the speakers were beyma... in short this is a nice piece of kit but the price tag reflects the build quality and materials. If they made a 12" version i would be all over two extension cabs in a heart beat but i would probably stay away from the head though...
