Here's my lovely 2002LTD Warwick Corvette: Special one this, this is the bass Warwick made to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Number 158 out of 200. Specs: - Ovkangol neck, rosewood fretboard with real abalone inlays - French walnut body with swirly bubinga top (which according to Warwick, they'd been saving for 10 years!) - MEC MM/J pickups with MEC preamp. The preamp is very versatile, it has active bass/mid/treble plus a pickup blend and coil tap for the MM pickup. Also has a passive switch. - Signed by Hans-Peter Wilfer on the back of the headstock Comes with original hardcase, Warwick user kit containing truss rod, beexwax, original tags and certificate of authenticity also signed by Hans-Peter Wilfer. £775. No trade offers thanks. Located in Liverpool. Cheers, Chris. ps. If this is too picture heavy let me know
Didn't Status come up with the original Buzzard design with J.E.? Witness the original "beaky" headstock which has recently reverted to the usual paddle type.
I recall a lot of legal issues with Warwick and Status, I'm sure someone can tell us the story.
Yup. Took me a while to say that didn't it?
I think it's taken a while for anyone to say it
Working fine for me Phil - try this link to the 5 string pages: http://allevacoppolo.com/basses/5string Maybe it's because they don't have the www?
Wow...they look brilliant, havn't seen them before. Where can I get one? edit: Actually, have just seen the prices......think I'll pass!

So basically, people have different tastes.
Made by the Stradivarius of the computer game world, and that really is the reality of the situation. EDIT: perhaps that should be the Amstradivarius..?
Oh no you didn't......
Isn't suited? What, like he doesn't fit? Doesn't go along with the bullshit that so often piles up on here? Didn't realise you have to "suit" an internet forum.
He has a tendancy to post lofty opinions, usually as statements of fact and then gets upset and leaves when challenged on them. Really, this is a cycle that's been happening since the days of bassworld and anyone who's been around for long enough will remember that.
This thread is pretty much along the lines of a lot of the others in BC. It's all about opinion, and people who post are more often than not justifying their purchasing decision, rather than look at the matter objectively. And then if someone else does offer a differing opinion, the whole thing deteriorates into mayhem and the debate is destroyed.
From what I can see, the debate in this thread has been nothing but reasonable.
Ah, but that's not "like for like". The price differential between new and used will alsays distort that kind of comparison.
Well, the Flea was still twice as much as a new sterling anyway so... Besides, I was just adding my own experience
-
I gotta say, that stage setup is pretty damn impressive!
-
Only once have I spent over £1000 on a bass and I don't think I'll ever be doing it again. I bought a new Modulus Flea and my personal experience was that the law of diminishing returns very much applied. It was superb, don't get me wrong but not enough to justify spending more than double the cost of the second hand MM Sterling I had.
-
Ouch, what happened to that?

Wasn't aware of this song until I played it on Rock Band! As soon as I heard it, I immediately wanted to grab my bass and play it. It feels like a proper bass workout, I just love the runs in it -
For just sheer, uncoloured boost go with an Aguilar.
I always thought id be constantly messing about with pedals but apart from a tuner, I really dont think im going to need to use any pedals with my current set up.
I've done the whole pedal thing, for years I've been through loads of boutique stomp boxes and a couple of multi fxs and in the end I've sold them all and am just plugging straight into my amp. Don't miss them at all. Too much fiddling. And I also think that if you have a good amp, you're doing it a big disservice by trying to get your tone by using a multi fx You should just be able to plug in, and only have to use the EQ to suit the room.
-
Don't know what amp you have but this is from the Gallien Krueger manual:
Presence: The Presence control adds extra sparkle on the high-end for better clarity and ‘openness’ in your tone. This is particularly useful when soloing or playing chords. Equalizer: Bass +10dB @ 60Hz Lo-Mid +6dB/-10dB @ 250Hz Hi-Mid +6dB/-10dB @ 1kHz Treble +12/-17dB @ 7kHz Voicing Filters: 4/5 String Bass +11dB@20Hz Contour +2dB@50Hz / -10dB@500Hz / +3dB@7kHz Presence +9dB@10kHz
So basically, it's a high frequency boost. It just made my sound scratchy though.
