  1. Thanks both I'm suitably comfortable in my own skin to look down this particular rabbit hole I think! Also, by no means set on changing the bass itself, that's just one of the many factors no doubt. I guess the question is really any recommendations in my neck of the woods? I'm not blessed with lots of free time so extensive travel is a challenge, would be great to find something a little more local. I will check out the bass room you mention Joe Cheers!
  2. Hello all, Looking for some advice or input please! I've been playing double bass for around 25 years now. It's been mainly my second instrument behind bass guitar and for the most part I've played in a jazz context. I started with a Zellor student bass for a few years then 'graduated' to a Bulgarian Kremona bass around 15/20 years ago - I can't remember. Anyhoo, point is this. I've never really considered my bass, my set up or my gear. Late last year I investigated and spent a little time cleaning my bass up and attempting some basic TLC, the effect was fantastic - a significantly improved sound and playability. No surprise perhaps! So now I am curious. Might I benefit from checking out different basses, strings or even set up. But where to go in order to do this? I'm based in Norwich, East Anglia. Thanks!
  3. I'm sorely tempted. The temptation doesn't in and of itself create any friction or other skin irritation etc. So not really sore I suppose - thankfully - but I am tempted. Agree with everything said here - close to the OC2 in a good way. Great fuzz tones, works great together. Likes passive basses much more than anything else. Octopus orgy. Nothing not to like. Did you know Octopuses have three hearts btw? Thank you on-line covid triva quiz from a few years ago.
  4. Right! Looks interesting for sure….
  5. what a wonderful thing it's not for me but absolutely fab, glwts matey
  6. Hello all, hope you had a great New Year Still looking to move this however the pressure on a sale is no longer there. Hit me with trades up or down, I'm flexible although sorted for 4 string P and J style basses! And btw, the missing tuner screw is now replaced. Hooray! Cheers, Abd
  7. Sold John an hx stomp and accessories, great coms, quick payment, all good! 👍
  8. Wow Absolutely wonderful instrument. Would love to try this GLWTS
  9. it will and it did, but when and for whom?
  10. Thanks @CalDeep Yeah - I think the hotone in particular is a great piece of kit. It's really well made, easy to use and there are loads of options to program just how you like. Great utility pedal. I have a second one which I'm still using with my future impact. Pairs a treat with the stomp as you can link extra footswitches or exps through either TRS or midi and the hotone will pass them through as midi output. Solves that issue with the stomp around 'do I use an extra TRS footswitch or a TRS exp pedal'
  11. I have stomps, helixeses, LTs, then I don't, then I do. It's a mystery now what is going on tbh Anyway I'm back loving the direct signal into my amp and using a few regular pedals in the loop so this is available. I'm selling as a combo here - the stomp you know about, also including an HX two button switch and an ampero control. The ampero is very impressive - fully programable to send whatever messages you like, you can pass additional switches and exps through as well. All done on your phone with bluetooth - the future is here, today! If you would like an exp I'll include something basic. Exps are quite personal in my opinion so working on the basis you might already have what you want. The ampero calibrates with any exp. Adding the extra footswitches and piping the HX switch and exp into the stomp via midi gives a really powerful set up in terms of control options. In my head this gear has always been around the config and control options, obvs less processing power that the full fat helix but still a huge amount achievable with the midi switches. If you want to go up to 400 I'll also include a protection racket stomp case. You won't fit the amepro in there but it will take the stomp, PSU and two button switch. Also include is the stomp psu, midi cable for ampero, TRS for the switch and I'll see if I can dig up a 9v daisy cable (as the ampero needs 9v power unless connected to PC by USB) Phew, there you go. Does that make sense? No trades by the way please and thank you
  12. Pink basses are great btw. Especially good for Punk on the basis that there is only one letter difference Some nice offers so far, keep em coming! Btw 1, the bass currently has old rounds on it. Very happy to swap these out for some flats if you prefer. I used it with flats for ages and works really well. Btw 2, I have a white sparkle pickguard which I can swap out or include if you wish
  13. always been curious about these - does it do the proper OC2 thing? my understanding is the same as yours @ambient in that MXR produced this based on one of JGs old OC2s
  14. A few questions on the original bridge; I do still have it and if you really want it I’m happy to swap it out. Not sure why you would but buyers choice!
  15. Looks amazing I’m really tempted by the whole short scale thing…
  16. I cannot believe @dodge_bass does not already have one of these. I thought it was the law!
  17. I don't have the original pickups. Bridge looks to be a hipshot A
  18. GORGEOUS shell pink p bass originally from walshy. Alder body, slab design with a very light relic (I believe by Dave Wilson). This was my first proper p and it’s wonderful. I did make some changes: Original neck swapped for a Nate Mendel. It’s worn but in a good way and suits the bass much better imo. tort plate one of the badass saddles developed a problem so I replaced with hipshot kickass saddles. Gives the advantage of adjustment to the spacing as well Weight is a tad over 9lbs. Pickup a fender 62. Cts pots. Shipping is an option….
