1. Thanks Ville. You are quite right. It is, in the words of Freddie Mercury, a kind of magic. Bump for pics
2. I picked this bass up from the perfect gent that is Ville a short while ago. It is without a doubt the most comfortable neck I've ever played and, in my opinion, a fabulous looking bass. The playability is excellent, outstanding in fact. I do not think I've owned a better bass in this respect. Unfortunately despite desparately wanting to love this bass, I can't get on with the tone. There is no problem as such, it's just not for me and I have been forced to conclude, very reluctantly that this is not a problem I can fix. I can't stress how disappointed I am about this - everything about the bass aside from this one critical issue is perfect...... beauty gasp mmmmmm! insane BEM back up I've also added a link here to Ville's original thread. This contains details of the bass plus a video clip. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1916926 My preference is for a sale here as I have half an eye on a replacement, the price is [s]GBP 1,500[/s] NOW GPB 1,300 plus shipping. I traded for the bass at slightly ahead of this figure but I think this is a reasonable and appropriate price. I am open to trades but it's very tricky to give a steer on what. Single cuts are preferred, 34 scale, depth and mass in the sound, fingerstyle and chording friendly.... Sorry I can't be more specific. A cash adjustment would be ok either way but I am looking for something in this ball park so a squire precision plus loads of cash wouldn't really hit the spot. The bass comes with a gig bag and is in Norwich for those who might like to try it out. This is a fab bass, I'm really hoping that I can find a decent home for it (as well as sort myself out of course!). ABD
3. Well, that's a really good point because despite not being a stingray owner I picked up on that straight away. I congratulated my wife on recognising that the additional flexabilty in that EQ config would generally be a useful feature. In terms of it's application I'm not sure there was an explicit benefit as such but all of the knobs did taste good. Btw can I just point out that I don't eat knobs as a rule, but in the interest of balance and tollerance I have no issue and am in no way judging those that do choose to eat knobs. There is plenty of room for all, live and let live etc. For those of you who are interested it was not possible to eat all of the stingray cake before it started to get a little old so the remnants were turned into the base for a very nice trifle. I bet Pino's old fretless stinger is still hanging around somewhere not being used. He (or the current owner of the bass) could learn a trick or two from my wife in terms of this kind of bass/food alchemy.
4. Sold pending
5. Not really sure where best to post this but my superb Mrs not only turns a blind eye to my reckless spending on bass gear, she also makes a very nice bit of cake and combined these two amazing and brilliant things to make this stingray cake for my 40th recently. The cake was wicked although the playability and tone of the Stingray needed some work, I also blew up my amp when I plugged the cake into it. All in all, tasty but no good on a gig. Any other bc'ers out there with basscake anecdotes? Abd
6. Price drop picture adding bumpery
7. Having recently picked up one of these I've realised that Nostalgia is not what it used to be. In the case of the GT6B nostalgia appears to be substantially heavier than I remember it plus it has a little more lag than I would like on the pedal bend feature. I will put some pics up asap but in the meantime here is a cheeky link to the original sale thread. I must confess that I'm not sure where I put the XLR cables referred to but if I can find them then I will include them as well. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 So, ok, it's an older unit so it will be larger and heavier etc. But, I do think there are some great sounds in these (terriffic Tony Levin patch on the presets), it just doesn't quite hit the mark unfortunately and is not leaving me with enough space on my board. Price wise I'll take [s]£125[/s] £100 (bargin!) plus shipping for it. That includes the powersupply and Rowley B's XLR cables IF I can find them. Btw Rowley and I excluded the case referred to in his thread from our deal. I'm open to trades for other FX units that are smaller and lighter and can cover decent reverb and pitchbend functions as a minimum. If anyone has a Zoom B3 and expression pedal they want to shift that would definately be of interest.... If you want to collect/try it I'm in Norwich... Cheers, Abd
8. Just completed a trade with Ville. Great guy to deal with, good communications and a very honest, open and effective deal throughout. I would not hesitiate to do business with Ville again, and may well do so in the future as he has a pretty awesome collection of basses that I would love to try out!
9. Just got one of these to use with a Genz 210 focus cab and tecamp 112. It's pretty crazy really, tiny amp, no weight, decent DI, flexible inputs for Aux sounds etc, tone is good, really simple to use, useful tuner built in and punches well above it's weight in the volume per watts stake. When you factor in the price I just can't fault it. Only two marginal downsides. Firstly you really need the footswitch if you want to use the toneprint feature, without the fs you can only use one of the two Toneprint presents and are perpetually fiddling with the volume knob to control the effected sound etc. Secondly the toneprint feature doesn't cover all effect types (even those with a TC toneprint) notably reverbs and delays so if you use these you still need your board!! These are really small gripes though. It's not a massive valvey deathstar kill everyone seated in row 1-12 type amp but if you want something really good for backup or just general usage I can't see how anyone would be disappointed. Really important point to emphasise: in some ways anything less than 500W is not considered a powerful amp now but actually what really counts of course is the sound and volume. This amp is a really good example of that. I was wary that it would be underpowered based on the spec or that it would struggle at higher volume settings but not at all. Definately a book not to be judged by it's cover! ABD
10. F1 sold to Vlado. Quick payment, clear communications and very reasonable regards some slight delays on the European shipping, a pleasure to deal with him. Trade with confidence!
11. Used to be mine, really good cab for 120....
12. Wow. It's like a curvy organic manta-ray type bass. A seriously good looking bass...
13. Amp is now sold, thanks to all for your interest and apologies to those that I couldn't sell to. Lot's of interest in a short time frame.
14. Bass is now sold, thanks to all for your interest. Cheers Joe for a nice clean deal, sorry you had to endure most of the day on National Express, hope the bass is worth it! ABD
15. Thanks for the offer Sloth. Nice cab but not for me right now. abd
16. Pics to follow as soon as/if I can get the pic thing working. Mint condition F1. Has been kept in a rack sleve all of it's pampered and privileged existance. I've used it mainly for double bass and small gigs so very little wear and tear. Did have a fault which was fixed by the distributor late last year, no issues or probs ever since. Comes with the original box if you like that sort of thing. Really great Markbass stuff. Super light, clean and quick tone and pretty flexible with the VLE and VPF filters both of which work well IMO. 500w into 4 ohms is probably enough for most of us EVEN THOUGH WE ALL CRAVE POWER! HAHAHAHA (evil laugh). It's a 50/50 ball if I sell this or not really. It's so light and small that it will always be a useful piece of gear, I just fancy a change as much as anything else. I am open for trades. Looking for a tecamp 2x10 or 2x12 or I'd consider another decent small/light amp head. Could be tempted with the TC RS cab/RH amps as these look pretty good. Don't tempt me with basses please as I will probably say yes and there are too many beasts on the farm already. Cheers, ABD
17. Your wife is right, very nice indeed....
18. Thanks for your comments guys and hopefully all pms now replied to. I should add, I am open to trades on this but would still need to realise at least half of the asking price i.e. £450 cash my way. A decent lightweight 2x10 or 2x12 would be of serious interest - tecamp would be fab... Cheers
19. Sorry - meant to mention, the bass is passive at the moment (although there is power for the LEDs) but I will include a used Aguilar OBP3 in the sale price if you want a pre. Bargain!
20. Dear all, Bigwan had this commissioned originally from John. It's a great bass which I bought from Bigwan last year as I was really keen to try a Shuker. In this respect it well and truly met expectations and I'd definitely choose a Shuker bass again but this particular one is probably not for me. Great bass all round but just not quite the sort of neck that makes me want to pick it up too often, so, up for sale. Here is the link to Bigwans build diary which contains all the details on the bass. It's as per the original build, I've changed nothing. http://basschat.co.u...another-shuker/ Price is GBP 900 which is what I paid for it. Includes Shuker case and reasonable shipping costs. Not sure if I've got photobucket working: http://s1285.beta.ph...library/shuker? If not, pm me your email for some current shots of the bass. I'm in Norwich btw if you want to try Cheers, ABD
