  1. Could anyone give me any advice or views on these. I'm considering one as a replacement for my SVT5 and would welcome any feedback other BCers could give. Would be great if anyone has one anywhere near Norwich that I could check out... Cheers, Andy
  2. Amp is withdrawn as it has developed a fault. Sounds like back to MB in order to get it fixed, assuming this can be done it will be available again. Believe all PMs answered and thanks for your interest.
  3. I'm happy to meet a reasonable distance (although not in the Northsea!) or I can ship this at buyer's expense.....
  4. Anyone fancy this? I'm looking for the perfect filter, this is great but just not quite what I'm after. Looking for trades on any other filters, qballs would be great. Can do some earth pounds in the deal if required. Pic shortly, pc off line at the moment. Cheers Andy
  5. Always fancied one of these and seriously thinking of switching from my svt 5. What experiences have people had with the Aguilar? Cheers
  6. F1 is pretty much silent. Fan is very small anyway so when it's on you just don't notice it, certainly not whilst playing. Not tried it in a recording situation though.
  7. For real? What is that? Btw I agree with everyone about everything Loads of boutique out there but I've never found anything that makes that much difference when listening from the back of a busy pub/village hall! I guess hellborg probably doesnt do village halls....
  8. Never actually done the MM model but have done loads of JBs over the years, often with the Marcus sound in mind. Biggest single factor for me was the maple fingerboard. The various other factors seemed to be pretty marginal to me but the maple board had quite a transformational effect given reasonable amp, cab etc. My current MM variant is my old MIM body (no idea what wood this is), maple JB stock retrofit neck with maple board plus barts and badass all run passive into an aguilar OP3 that I've built into an external stomp box so I can use it with different basses. I am now told that the only obsticle between me and Marcus is talent. I like the pickguard although I've gone t.shell myself. Front pickup cover on which I did actually find to be helpful for thumbs, not so good for fingers if you want them over the front pu. At some stage I should really come up with some ideas of my own....... As far as the MM is concerned the prices have always put me off a bit. I was wavering a couple of years back but in the end just went with my own take on it. I've heard great ones and indifferent ones since, not to the degree though where I could conclude it was a good or bad bass as such...
  9. This is a really important aspect of it - it's not just the C. The issue I've been having is that the whole range of strings seems to behave differently with the stringing.....
  10. Bumperooni for "I really want something more tubey" pricedrop Less than this and I'll keep it I think and just ram some tubes in the back of it somehow.
  11. Thanks guys, very interesting going over what's been said here. In the last week or so I've restrung the Stambaugh with Elixir 105-32s and it was a much improved position. However in order to put some context around it I then tried the strings on my 33 ACG as well - wow! My conclusion from all of this was: improvement from better strings but still only in the context of what the bass itself will actually deliver. So I've left the Elixirs on the ACG which have put it into the stratosphere. Stam has gone back to B-G with some fresh d'addario XLs on it and it sounds awesome too - completely different behaviour with the heavier guage. The tone I'm getting from it now seems much more consistent with it's pedigree etc. I think the only thing that I can conclude here is that some basses are specificially designed or just by luck work with this higher tuning. Some are not, only way to be sure is to check it out in advance. I'm now wishing I never let the Alembic MK go........... Thanks, Andy
  12. bought Clone Theory from Ivan, all good. Great coms and the thing turned up almost before I'd paid for it! Well packed and in excellent condition although I can't find any theory enclosed. It just seems to be some kind of chorus pedal. On well, I will have to source my evil army some other way.
  13. MR: [attachment=103919:Mr_Bump.jpg] yes, indeed, only 3 photos..... ......but what a great amp - an idea Easter Gift bump
  14. Someone really has to buy this before it ends up costing me money....
  15. Postage is possible but I don't have any of the necessary packing right now so you'd have to be patient. Collection is better (for me!!) or I'm prepared to meet within a reasonable distance if you chip if for my petrol. Thanks Andy
  16. Thanks guys. It's now up on the evil, evil bay of doom. Get in there quick before.... someone else get's in there quick. I would much rather it went to a fellow BCer.

  20. Fantastic amp, I guess you all know what these are so I won't bore you with lots of guff. Owned from new and well cared for. Has lived it's life in a laptop sleve so is pretty much blemish free. No weight or size at. I'm looking to move it on simply as I would prefer something with a valve preamp. Trades wise please let them be valvey, small and portable. I don't need anything big or hefty. I will try to put some photos up shortly. BTW this is the original version without the parametric mids (normal MB colours, not the red face). Think this is a pretty good price for a tip top amp, I reserve the right to withdraw it should I come to my senses at any time. Thanks Folks
