1.
I use heatshrink tubing for this. Cut off a 1 cm length, place on jack so it's halfway on, shrink with heat source, Couple of quid for a lifetime supply, and it comes in bright colours.
Yup.. job done +1
  2. I not either.. Nice hats thought..
  3.
Are they woolly? Only joking!
I suspect if you cut Kevin in half you'd find "I love Ashdown" written there like a piece of seaside rock

  5. Are you sure you've not hit your upload limit? If you have then clean out some old photos and/or link to a photo sharing site..
  6.
I snapped. I blame whoever it was who suggested the Thomann return policy.
Ohh.. can I come and play when you've got it? :-)
  7. Totally agree to being careful and asking questions beforehand.. And to steer clear of promoters.. The one that annoys me is pub landlords putting a "festival for charity" apparently simply as a way of getting punters through the door... Interestingly these are the pubs that never seem to tell you how much was donated to the charity or charities.. Equally there are local pubs that do a fine job of this - not surprisingly these tend to be the pubs with landlords/landladies that do the music thing anyway... However I won't travel too far, and want to speak to the people doing the sound before I commit....

    DIY Porn!
My three latest DIY onboard preamp builds: The one in the middle is my latest design, a three band format with a "filter" style treble control section. I expect to post it eventually as an open source project including circuit board fabrication files. Initial testing has been going pretty well, much better than I really expected to be honest. Here are the two stomp box enclosures I just received in the mail today for some tester versions I can pass around to friends for user feedback: I'll also have them in some friends' booths at the NAMM show in January, but again just to see how I might be able to improve the design. I would love to eventually sell some IP, but have little interest in marketing hard goods.
I am so impressed by stuff like this.. kudos
  9.
1400w? Wonder if it's got 2 ICEpower ASC700s under the hood.
Probably correct as he offers a 700w version as well...
  10.
Not really looking for anything, just easily seduced by music shops! The last [s]two[/s] three jazz basses have been bought when I have been coming back form fairly unpleasant hospital appointments and needed cheering up. Hopefully, I'll remember that a P bass is better at that than a J. And a good bottle of Scotch is both better and cheaper than either!
I'm teasing.. but of course we're all looking for something better. It's just a matter of degree..

  12.
No more than 4 or 5 so far! All passive, though And that covers about 40 years...
But clearly at some point you were looking for a better this or that.. indeed from your posts this was quite recent ,😁
  13.
I've never played an active bass, perfectly happy with my passive basses as they so see no need to change. Some people seem to spend their whole lives looking for a better this or better that. Personally, I'd rather just get on with playing.
How many Jazz basses have you bought and sold ? 😁
  14. http://verellenamplifiers.bigcartel.com/product/meatsmoke-1400-watt-solid-state-tube-hybrid-amplifier Probably a bit of a beast
  15. Bluearan.. Do you know the type/manufacturer of tweeter/driver you need to replace ?
  16.
I'd recommend a Barefaced cab and keep your current head. I've never tried a pf but they get good reviews. I have a super twin and every head I've put through it sounds monstrous.
At the moment you're not making the most of your pf500 as it's running into an 8-ohm cab. Replacing your 210 with an efficient 4 ohm 2x12 will give you more of everything.. I also use a bf super twin and it's great for what I do.. running around £600 secondhand. Bergatino are also worth looking at, as are Fearless cabs.. all about the same weight as your current cab..
  17. Between £900 and £1100 as an estimate..
  18. What sort of music do you play ? What sort of sound are you looking for ? What do you like/dislike about your current rig ?
  19.
Maybe the selling tickets thing is that they believe they're doing you a favour by letting you play as your band will be 'getting exposure' so you have to prove that you are worthy of the opportunity. If that is the case it alters the dynamic, and donatating your time and skills will not be appreciated.
I just lurve those thar exposure dollars :-)
  20.
I dream of living in a world where "pick vs fingers" isn't so regularly debated.
perhaps we should make a naughty list that can't be discussed... ? 4 strings versus 5 strings Long scale B string vs "standard/short" B string
  21. Your giving your time, it's up to the organisers to get the punters in. It will be pay to play charity gigs next. I do a lot of charity gigs. I've never been asked to sell tickets..
  22.
...actually the Ernie Ball MVP looks about right, but it's twice what I'm looking to pay. Perhaps the VP Jr. with the heel chocked with a lump of wood!
I've got an artec active pedal that does exactly this.. it's a little tone sucky (but then I'm really fussy).. Yours for £30 posted if interested ?
  23. I've personally not come across a volume pedal that does not suck at least a little tone, so would be interested if anyone has found one that does not..
  24. And to go back to the OP's point, I don't sense dislike, just different preferences. I don't want to play a pbass with 10 yr old flats through a trace Elliot rig, yet it works for some people.
