Absolutely - it's getting ridiculous now. I wonder how many of 'em are turning up because they're deaf so they can't hear..?
The first gig my new band did last year was to a pub full of properly deaf people...

First dibs to Billy Apple, then Molan....
How come this sort of thing can't happen closer to me?!!!
You do have the best crisps though :-)
I'll have it. I'll pay for posting tho
"come and get it" I really don't want anything more to do with it.. At the moment I feel like throwing it in a skip...

I may well have knackered it after trying to diagnose a minor problem. . I'm so angry (with myself) that I just want it gone.. Free to the first person that can come and get it (near Banbury)...
Ideally you need to find someone who has a tube tester who can check them individually. Unfortunately the only guy that I know of who might be able to help is in my part of the world. I doubt that it's the 12AX7s as they go on for years however I seem to remember that a number of problems with the output tubes surfaced not long after the Prodigy was launched. Have you tried reseating them all?
Yup, better, but still seriously down on volume.. Or it may not have heated up enough to do whatever it was doing before.. However by switching the tubes over (it can run on half power, so I thought this would isolate a power tube problem) and attempting to use the easy biasing function (which did not appear to function as advertised) I think I may have completely screwed the pooch.. Anyone fancy a free slightly smelly Prodigy to work on? I've lost patience with it now...

Hi Westside have suggested it might be a problem "with the tubes" .. What is the best way to see if the 12AX7's and KT88's are working correctly? Or is it best to send them off somewhere to be checked? If so, any recommendations/anyone close to me? (Banbury)... Thanks in advance MArk

Mesa Prodigy 4:88 gone pop. 3 years old
Bit far from Bristol.
I'd prefer Brizzle to central London or Stockport... No response from WestSide as of yet... -

Vertical 2x12 is where the sweet spot is IMHO.. Lots and lots of choice out there.. genz/tecamp/barefaced etc etc. Most are lightweight and very efficient..

My 35" 3+2 Jazz 5 alike is actually slightly too short...
Big baby 2 is light as a feather..love mine. Its 8 ohm though so check your output for that.
So is the berg from what I recall .. -
Thanks for the info. You must be the first person I've seen not to like BF stuff! Yes, I see BassDirect have several interesting items; might be worth the 200 mile round trip to visit them....
Welcome to basschat - the home of contrarian, but polite, debate. 😀 Some folk get heavily invested in a brand, or a set view (P bass with 20 year flats through a selmer amp ).. use your own ears. Personally I find it takes me a while to dial in a sound on a new rig. -

If you let people know where you are then I'm sure someone will volunteer to let you test theirs, or if close to brighten go and see Alex. I've been gigging a gen 1 super 12t for six years, still looks as new (easy to touch up) and the only "non pro" aspect is the handles which was addressed in later generation cabs. I think Alex missed out by not fitting recessed handles but he had good reasons not to. -
Jim, cheapest approach would be a XLR splitter. Method 1 Mic -> Split1 -> Desk -> Aux send to IEM Mic -> Split2 -> Monitor (assuming powered monitor - if not, tell me more about what your setup is) Method 2 Depending upon what the IEM system is, you can have two inputs into the IEM mixer and run it in stereo focus mode. This means from the pack you can blend she can blend how much she wants to hear of herself in relation to the band mix which is coming in on the other feed. Then you can do a pass through on the out from the transmitter into your monitor for just the vocal into the wedge. Method 3 Little mixer in front of main mixer. Mic goes into this little mixer. Left out goes to the desk, right out goes to the monitor (or IEM depending on which way round you want to drive your monitor feeds). [s]Method 4[/s] [s]Get a desk with more auxes and satisfy everybody with their own mix.[/s] PS it sounds like you are getting shafted on the mix by the keys player.
Would not rule out option 4 completely - desks like the Behringer X18, Soundcraft Ui16 and RCF M18 can provide individual mixes for less than £500 new if you shop around... I'm umming and ahhing about pulling the trigger on one of these at the moment..
Where are you?
Near Banbury... -
Was in the process of checking this out prior to selling it (it had been stored for 3 months) when it went pop after about half an hour of playing it at full tilt. With the pop was a nasty smell I've come to associate with capacitors, but it's just a hunch. Replace the fused, amp turns on. Now very down on power and very easy to drive the preamp into distortion... All the valves are glowing about the same, including the preamp valves.. Serial number is BP000325 if that helps.. Any thoughts? I've contacted Dennis Marshall to take a look but it turns out he's out of the country till mid march. Who is next on the list of Mesa master repairers? :-) All feedback/ideas welcomed...
Can the band gig without the PA, regardless of whether everything is going through it or not?
Not really the point he was making.. everyone else provides stuff needed to gig with.. I've seen friends bands where the singer rocks up late with just an sm58:-)

You need to change language.. German and Dutch.. the Dutch guy was distinctly unhappy with the build quality and component quality..
The fact that the little rubber feet of my TC RH450 are only just wider than the carrying handle on top of the TC 112 speaker so that if you don't position it exactly one leg falls in the hole and it wobbles. And that the shift and mute button are next to each other. Oh and that it is very tight in the official TC RH450 bag so that the volume knob falls off. And leather straps with that stupid in out cross round thing at the end so they can't be adjusted easily. And Speakon connectors that only work one way round.
I replaced the TC gig bag with a gator 1212 mixer case.. works great.. and does not fall to bits either
