1. Hi Alec, +1 to the above.. At this level (or indeed any level) it's about what sounds best to you, and for you specifically.... If you can spend less money to get a better bass for you then that's a result surely?
2. What I found (could be my giant chubby hands) was that the VMJ neck was pretty close to the GL - a tiny bit more rounded, but really not much in it... And the (sensible) bass playing shop assistant said she could not tell the difference (but both were much thinner than her "proper" Jazz... ) The "natural" VMJ was £250, the GL £979.. The GL was immaculate (as you'd expect from a MIJ) - I don't understand why it was not setup properly..
3. Hi folks... Just tried out both of these in my local music shop.. Frankly although the GL is prettier and better finished the VMJ played better and sounded much the same.. Am I missing something? It also did not help that the VMJ had a better setup... Thoughts?
4. Likewise the pair of Tannoy NFM8's I have staring at me now :-)
Dual concentric speaker layout is nothing new. My Tannoy Gold studio monitors from the 60s have this design (and they sound great).
5. Sure, so what's it called when it's stuck in the top right hand corner of my S12(T) ? :-) perhaps I should ask Alex for an extra tweeter? :-)
6. Apologies, I must only have seen non 'T' versions... My S12(t) does not have this...
7. SWR 410 @ 105db/1W/1m vs GB10 @ 97 db/1w/m may have something to do with it.. Max Watts RMS only means something when coupled with a speaker.. And cabs vary in efficiency and frequency response quite markedly....
8. Interesting design change.. I wonder if this will be common to the other 'T's moving forward?
9. is that some form of extra bracing at the front of cab?
10. Great amp, great price....
11. Hi Folks... Having a kit refresh - moving onto a Kronos 88 or Nord Stage 2 88 - will list on ebay over the next couple of weeks but it's going to be easier and better value for everyone if I sell directly.. Anyway up for grabs are Yamaha Motif ES8 in fine condition, maxed RAM (1 GB) and PLG-100VH option board (singing stuff) Comes with your choice of Road Ready flightcase or noname softcase with bracing and wheels.. http://uk.yamaha.com...-vh/?mode=model http://usa.yamaha.co...es8/?mode=model It's in damn fine condition.. Say £900.. Will Ebay for a grand... Lovely 88 key graded hammer action keyboard.. Second is a Roland VR-700 - two years old. http://www.roland.co...ucts/en/VR-700/ Great hammonds/strings/electric pianos.... 76 key waterfall keyboard Comes with soft case... Say £900.... If you buy both I'll throw in a custom german made A frame aluminium stand with laptop holder - bought for £240 a year ago.. I'll stick some photos up over the few days, but I'm based in South Warwickshire and you're welcome to come try/see... Cheers Mark
12. I bought a Joyo chromatic tuner as a backup for less than £30 off amazon.. It's as accurate as the tuner in my RH450, true bypass and mutes....
13. Just talking to them about an expensive new kb (works both ways).. Not only have they beaten the best price from Thomann/Woodbrass by quite a bit, they're getting two of my options in for me to try next week (Korg Kronos 88 and Nord Stage 2 88) without me even having to prompt.. Sort of a no-brainer as far as I can see - they'll be getting my business...
14. was'nt me :-(
15. Is it a big secret? I suspect if someone is going to buy this they'll either 1. Need to see it first or 2. See some pictures.... All the best Mark
16. As per pictures, comes with Status branded hiscox case and case candy. Only issues are a headstock knock that's taken some of the lacquer (about 3 mm x 5 mm) off of the lower far end of the headstock, but is hard to photograph being shiny black on slightly less shiny black and a little fretboard surface wear.. Currently strung with Status half wounds but will come with a varied set of lightly used sets of flatwound strings :-) I'm just not using it at the moment at all.. Value - hard to say in this marketplace but say £575? . I'm based in South Warwickshire.. Cheers Mark
17. This is a nice relaxed video from Sheldon Dingwall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dat06tJS0lY
18. Still for sale? Would be interested in the asking price if it included a meet up somewhere just to the south of Leeds (about half way)...
19. Because I think you've hit the nail on the head "that's how it is" .. The folk who set basschat up had very clear ideas on how they wanted the site to run and it's "culture".. Given that the end result is a superb community I'm perfectly happy that it stays that way... And it's not quite as rigid as you think - once you've had a firm price stated, then after a while it's perfectly acceptable to suggest that you're open to offers... If all of this sounds soft, warm and undefined then my standard answer to these sort of things is "ask for your money back"
