2. That's the one I was looking at :-)
Mate of mine is sorely tempted by the gold-top. If he gets it, I'll let you know.
3. Order away here :-) http://www.suerydercareshop.com/category/1...lectric_Guitars Wonder what the Les paul is like?
4. Apologies.. Post modified.,.. :-) 4 mm core twin cable is about £2.50 a metre and rated at 45A normally.. And OBBM's cables are such good value you'd need to have a good reason to make your own, or be a dab hand at electrical stuff and happy to buy cable in volume..
Correction: I use 4-sq.mm. 224 strand cable for bass amp leads, 2.5-sq.mm. for guitars. The 4-sq.mm. has a very low resistance which keeps the damping factor high and allows tighter control of the speaker driver especially near its resonant frequency. The centre conductor of an instrument cable typically has a cross-sectional area of 0.22-sq.mm. which gives a higher resistance and a lower damping factor.
5. I use 2.5mm two core mains cable for my speaker cable (rated at 30A).. It's cheap at about 80p a metre and can cope with modern amp current loads without heating up too much.. OBBM uses 4mm cable in his Bass cables .. Why have a powerful amp and restrict the amount of current it can flow to your cab?
6. +111 A friend of mine (really, no not me) managed recently to plug his 4x8 speaker cable into his fx return, the cab went microphonic, fed back through his 1x15 and buggered his amp... Cheers Mark
Instrument cables carry only the tiniest of voltages and currents. Speaker cables should really be regarded as power cables. They are totally different applications and require totally different cables, for all the reasons mentioned above. The real problem, I think, is the stupid industry practice of using 1/4-inch jacks for everything. Half our band have trouble figuring out how to connect the PA together and I've watched them plug speakers into line inputs before now, presumably simply because the cables fit. I use speakon connectors on my speaker cables, so there can be no confusion. It's a shame they are not more widely used. It's a pity the music industry hasn't followed the IT world - it's almost impossible to incorrectly connect all the bits of a PC together because of the different connector types and colour-coded plugs and sockets. But the humble jack is now a universal standard with a long and honourable history, so I don't expect it will change anytime soon.
7. My son has a Linebacker 65 (I think) combo.. Yes, I'm embarrassed to admit he's a guitard.. Must be 20 years old and works fine even with idiot teenagers abusing it.. :-)
8. Bump for a great amp...
9. Sunday Bump.. Now restrung with brand new DR Black Beauties.. Looks (and sounds) great.. See new picture

Does rather assume all the Xmax's are the same though? :-)
Me being a complete úber geek I thought I'd calculate the total cone areas of each cab.... 2x10" - 157 square inches 2x12" - 226 1x15" - 177 Looks like the 2x12 will shift some air !!!
Barefaced also do a Neo 2 x 12 as well... http://barefacedbass.com/index.php?page=super-twelve
Fancy getting one eventually (in the summer), any opinions ? Never owned a 12s cab but I was looking for something with just a bit more 'kaboom' than my David Eden 210. Like the look of those Genz Benz Neo 212 cabs
13. On tour in the UK later this year http://www.brianculbertson.com/Content/tour.html I feel a trip to Milton Keynes coming on.. :-)
Lovely. Not really my sort of music but i really enjoyed the tightness and groove.
14. Bought Jacks H4.. Fast delivery, good comms.. Cheers Mark
15. You could also give this web service a go... http://www.convertfiles.com/
16. Short answer is I can't remember.. I can remember using this or something very like this about 18 months ago but that was on my old PC :-) GIve it a go, feed it a M4A and see what happens :-) Mark
17. You may want to try something like this to convert... http://www.snapfiles.com/get/m4atomp3.html I'm not a FanBoi either :-)
18. I had sort of come to that conclusion having spent a fair amount of time looking around.. A nice convergent product idea for someone as IEM's become more popular...
19. Does anyone know of a single bi-directional wireless solution that allows the use of wireless IEM and a wireless headset microphone? Or am I condemned to having seperate setups for this? Cheers Mark
20. "The guitarists are just overjoyed to have a drummer and bass player and so are happy with whatever I'm doing." Picks himself up from floor... Are you sure you're not in a dream? :-)
21. Seems to have a run time of about 5 hours (transmitting all the time) on an approx 1 hour charge cycle.. I'll charge fully and repeat.. Mark.
22. Worked fine last night (although given this is a 2.4 Ghz system nothing should have interfered with it).. Running a battery charge/life test today (using a signal generator) whilst generating a lot of 2.4 ghz BT and Wifi traffic.. Seems to be holding up fine..
23. No one else, although my other band use a Sennheiser wireless mike setup.. Let's see if that interferes - that will be next Tuesday... I might get our guitarist to fire up his TBone IEM tonight as well.. Mark
24. Was the Really Useful Music company which I suspect is the same as yours... They were good as gold about replacing it, and when it was working it was great - including range.. The replacement has just arrived and it's working fine - let's see how it copes at rehearsal tonight.. Cheers Mark
25. I ordered one before xmas, and was quite pleased with it until it packed up by refusing to pair... Interestingly the transmitter then started to act as a wifi jammer... I've got a replacement on the way, let's see if that performs any better... Cheers MArk
