My friend is not quite sure what the delay is. He enquired with the supplier only this morning and they're not sure either. Just keeps getting put back. My, er, his hands, appear to be tied on the matter 🤷♂️.

Asking for a friend: he ordered a bass in the 1st quarter of 2023 and it hasn't arrived yet. Is he out for 2024?

Yeah, I hear ya. I’m not sure how I now stand regarding the 2024 abstinence challenge 🤷♂️ Ordered 1st quarter of 2023 and still a no show. -

From what BD have said this morning, they still have no definitive date for the Rio's. They did say the date had been pushed back and that they keep asking when they're likely to arrive, but nothing so far. -

Unless it happened this morning and they didn't know it was coming, I think it's unlikely. I've been in contact with BD this morning. -
I don’t even think they’re that much cheaper. I’ve had a look at shipping options a few times when I’m sending stuff I’ve sold on eBay and the price difference is marginal. Certainly nowhere near what it used to be. That said, our Evri courier is fantastic. She always goes the extra mile. I quite often see her driving about in her car and she lets me know if she’s coming to us or if she has anything for us. Our local drop-off shop is a bit of a nightmare. Parcels everywhere in the aisles and it’s one of those shops that gets full of school kids before and after school as well as lunch times. I’m not surprised stuff goes missing.

Kid wants to start drumming - help!
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to asingardenof's topic in Other Instruments
I would steer away from the G4M kit. I know nothing about them, but the colours won’t do him any favours if he continues his interest in drumming. The Millenium kits however are very good. A drummer in a band I dep for has recently bought one and gigs with it. He knows his gear and he wouldn’t have kept it if it didn’t pass muster. Also sounds good to my ears. -
Harsh IMHO, but I don’t make the rules 🤷♂️

Tuners are OK surely?

My last bass purchase was 23/6, so I'll throw myself in the ring for this year. I did buy a pedal at the end of 2023, but nothing since.

Remainder January GAS denial opportunity.
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Downunderwonder's topic in General Discussion
I reckon I can do January easily. I find myself browsing for basses less and less these days. The new web site at BD has helped as I just cannot be bothered to try and navigate it. My Achilles Heel is friends messaging me about basses they have seen that they (usually correctly) think I would like. -
He sounds like a bit of a ****, but then he did give Charlotte her marching orders so that fits 🤷♂️

Rings on your fretting hand
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to northcountrybob's topic in General Discussion
I've not worn mine since I developed trigger finger and it completely seized with the finger pointing towards the palm. I've tried it on a couple of times since, but I can feel it would be a bad idea leaving it on for any length of time, so it sits in Mrs.H's jewellery box. I always did find it much easier playing without it on. -
Spector Euro 4X in Ultra Violet - Mint/Unused
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in Basses For Sale
Back up for sale and in exactly the same condition as it was when I first listed it. Unused and unlikely to be (by me) due to the original project I bought it for falling through. As lovely as this bass is, given that my diary for this year is already quite busy with four other bands, I really don't see much point in hanging on to it.- 18 replies

Stand for multiple basses - Q
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Risk101's topic in Accessories and Misc
I think you’re going to have to bite the bullet and raise the shelf if you want to use that space for basses in a rack. Even if you find something that will do the job with mm to spare, I wouldn’t want my headstocks that close to the bottom of the shelf as I know what a klutz I am lifting basses out. I have one of these. Slightly over your max with various 34” scale basses in it. Great stand. -
How was your gig last night?

Ah I see. I did think it odd all the X tunes were in the 2nd set. Makes sense now 👍
