Aerosmith retire from touring
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassbiscuits's topic in General Discussion
Been a fan since what seems like forever. Saw them at The Toxic Twin Towers Ball at Wembley in ‘99. What a gig! Sad to hear ST is hanging up his mic, but it sounds like a sensible move. -
I’ll chuck Mike Lull into the mix. You won’t get a new one for £2k, but you might score a used one for that ball park. The B on mine is fantastic. They are 35” scale tho. For my money, 35” scale basses shouldn’t be disregarded in terms of 5’ers. Mike Lull MV5 at Bass Direct.

How was your gig last night?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassninja's topic in General Discussion
Heard a few horror stories about The Bull, as I'm sure you have. Not played there for a while. Hope tomorrows gig goes better. -
Cripes. I'd have done it myself for £300 😎

That seems a lot of dosh mate. Where was it going? I assume it was of significant size/weight as well?

Noted. Deleting number from phone 👍.

What's the best way of rehearsing remotely / online?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Teebs's topic in General Discussion
Just been online with SonoBus for the first time. As a former user of JamKazam, I have to say this is much better and user friendly. Full rehearsal this next Tuesday, providing the drummer can get on line by then. -
That is a right result. I’ve played a few and they were much much heavier. Enjoy 🤘

Dare I ask how much it weighs?

If you like jazz don’t go to a jazz festival

@triplebass - I take your point, but it's been like it for years. Many years even before this.... -

Hard Rock Cafe Basses

Mrs.H and I are currently at HRC Dominican Republic and there is a dismal selection of basses on offer here. The first one I saw was in the main concourse and is probably one of a thousand that Gene Simmons has played @cetera. The second was on display in the HRC shop and isn’t a celeb bass - just a bit bizarre. I’m still not sure what’s going on here. -
Nope. Picked up my JJ Burnel Signature from Shuker HQ and gigged it that night.
-
Yep, same here. My festival days are well and truly over. I think my last big one was V in Chelmsford, so some time ago. I just cannot be ar$ed doing battle to get a halfway decent view and then giving it up to go for a two mile trek for a p!$$.

I don’t understand why you would think he would have changed. Was he subject to some kind of revelation about the trauma he out people through. Guys like this do not change.
-
+1 the most recent comments. The only thing he cares about is money - building instruments and customer service are not even on his radar. If you truly want to help the bass community, be Letts’ complete undoing; which in truth, you should have started a long time ago. This softly softly give him another chance bo!!ocks does not help anyone. It probably has the opposite effect.
-
Probably sounded a bit harsher than I meant, but I am staggered that you gave this guy another chance after all the grief he has caused you, especially in light of the fact he’s still doing business and making (let’s be honest) $hit YT videos. You need to see him for what he is and what he will always be.
-
Sorry, but I have zero sympathy for what you’re putting yourself through now.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. To my ears, there are two distinct keyboard parts that yes, are playable by one person. Quite how you play the bass line on a keyboard as well as playing those two parts at the same time is beyond me, and I started my musical life as a keyboard player. NB. We don't use any backing or samples of any kind.
