1.
Thank God for that!!
I expect quite a few similar comments. The ultimate Marmite bass perhaps?
2. These don't come around too often.
3. Yes, I'd like to get a gold one with black lettering.
4. There is just something about the colour of that fretboard that blends so nicely with the body colour.
5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130683250576&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123 I've been playing my 'Ray's pretty much exclusively lately and only rarely go back to my Jazz, but this one ticks all my boxes. YOB, no holes for the ashtray, bound neck, a fraction of the price of an original, lovely colour and shiny shiny! Thankfully I can't pop over there and pick it up personally.
6.
PM'd
Thanks matey. I've sent a PM as per your suggestion.
7.
Theres a few companies that can make scratchplates from a template supplied, I believe its the same material so maybe thats worth a search on google...? Of course if you want something branded you'll have to go to OEM, some of them will make you prove that you own the genuine article, but without the trademarked TRC I don't see how this will be possible
Thanks for the info. I have the original TRC. The one I would like made is the same shape, but with different wording, so I don't think I'll be treading on anyone's toes as far as trademarks are concerned. One does have to be particularly careful about these things. Apparently.
8. Bit of a long shot this, but do any of you know of anyone who could make up custom TRC for me. I wouldn't want to bring myself to the attention of a particularly vigilant CEO by giving specific details of the bass/TRC required, but I am sure the discerning bassists amongst you will figure where I am coming from. Let me know details of any can do guys or gals. Thank You.
9. I can't remember who posted it or where the thread is even, but someone put this guy up doing the riff for Good Times, which is decent enough. I looked at his other stuff and picked this up which has kept me occupied on and off for the best part of a week. Having finally nailed it I thought I would share. I'm also loving the sound and look of that Lakland. Yummy. 10. Thank you one and all for the time and thought put into your replies. I am now fairly determined that I owe it to myself to try the Big Twin. I just have to decide which amp I'm going to get to go with it...
11.
Don't you have a Trace V8?
Yes, I do. It's a hefty bugger though. It weighs more than the Big Twin!
12. Having read all the technical information on the Barefaced site and had time to digest it over the past few days, I am now wondering which amp would be best to pair with the Big Twin? An Orange Terror, the new Matamp (as and when it is released) or something else entirely? I've never been much of a gear head regarding amps.& cabs. Basses I'm OK on, but not so much the other end of the lead, so any pointers gratefully received.
13. Thanks for the information guys. Having spent all afternoon reading the information on the Barefaced website and then having a look at Matamp, I think I'm going to sit it out for a little while longer. I'm now really interested to see what comes of the new head from Matamp.
14. I'm just throwing this out there hoping that I may be able to pick up a couple of pointers and maybe avoid any obvious pitfalls. I have had two "occurrences" this week that if I'd just sat back and not hurried, everything would have panned out better. So, rather than jumping in with both feet.... I want to change my rig to something a little more powerful. Whilst considering my options I find myself gravitating towards Orange. The amps seem very simple to use (light on knobs and buttons). Does anyone have any Terror Bass horror stories? Do I go for the 500 or the 1000? Whichever I go for, which cabs do I get? Do I go Orange amp and cab or cab from another manufacturer? I see Orange are phasing out the SP410 which looked to be quite a nice match for a Terror Bass amp. Are they planning on replacing it with something else? If I go Orange cab do I get the SP210 or SP212? Any advice you guys could give would be gratefully received.
15.
You'll only order it online when you get home

the best deal i noticed was a Yamaha TRB-5 with over 1k off the RRP!!!!!!! Watch out for the ridiculously priced cafe bit! Theres a tesco's on the way which i advise going to first
That's the thing, if I see something I like at a discount price, it's going to be hard to resist as I wouldn't get the same deal ordering online when I get back home. Plus, I do like a good haggle.
16. Probably a good idea to leave my credit card at home then?
17. Tomorrow will be my first visit to the show. Do people actually buy basses at these things? From the comments I have read in various threads it seems you can hardly hear yourself think let alone hear what a bass sounds like. I guess if you know what you are after it's not a problem, but hard to hear any impulse purchases I would think. Anyway, if you bought it, let's see it!
18.
yeah, but I would be more concerned with 20 year old basses in pristine condition. as long as the neck is in good nick
Point taken. Talking of nicks in the neck. That would annoy me too.
19.
it's been played, nout wrong with that
I would take me more time than I've got left to "play" a bass into that condition!
20. Would they do that? It would have to be a complete refinish though wouldn't it or it would look even worse than it does now.
21. Some of these 4001CS's have had really hard lives. The owner of this particular example clearly thought it had been fitted with wheels as it appears to have been dragged a fair distance on it's back edge! Love the pick holder. A nice touch I think. 22. I've dropped the price on this wee beasty, but welcome any PM's to discuss your closest offer. I have also re-listed it on eBay. If there is no interest after the auction ends I'll probably pull it from here as well. My current bout of GAS has been sated with the acquisition of the Rickenbacker, so unless anything else comes along, I'm sorted.
23.
UGH! what a waste of a 4001CS
Quite. Don't get me wrong, The Bee Gees have written some classics, but I don't love 'em enough to do that to a CS.
