  1. Keys player went sick at 8am this morning for tonight’s gig. Spent the day piecing together a set that we can perform as a trio. It will be interesting if nothing else!

How did it go? C'mon, don't leave us hanging.

We performed and we got paid, so I think we got away with it. We were up front with the venue and gave them a chance to cancel us if they wanted to as they weren’t getting what they booked. They said they still wanted us, so we played. There’s nothing quite like performing songs you’ve not played in a band environment before. Eyes were all about for cues etc. Definitely keeps you on your toes. I’m not sure I’d be in a hurry to do it again any time soon, but at least we now know we can.

  3. Does he know what the metal line things are on the long piece of wood sticking out from the bit with the knobs on? 😂
  4. I’m sure you mean the angle at which the Sun is to your position on Earth as it rotates through it’s elliptical orbit around it 😂

  6. Just let my guitarist know and he tells me he's just bought a Squier 🤷‍♂️
  7. Looks great. I'll pass it on to my friend. When you say weighty, how heavy is weighty?
  8. @carlsim- I can’t help thinking some photos of the actual bass might help your cause here, plus an accurate weight given you’ve said it’s weighty. A guitarist I know is after a J that won’t break the bank, but no way is he buying it without seeing some photos of it.
  9. I really like Andrea Goldsworthy who is probably best known as being part of Paloma Faith's touring band. As can be seen/heard in the below video, Andrea is totally on it. Great feel for a groove, she's got the look, she play's DB, she's the complete package IMHO. EDIT: She's also a really nice person, which goes a long way in my book.
  10. Mmm, no Divinity Roxx? Although Teen Town doesn't go entirely according to plan, she bosses it like a pro pushing into an extended jam and then going into Rapper's Delight. EDIT: I note she was mentioned in SBL's video.
  11. +1 for Gramma Pad. Used it for years on a hundreds of stages = zero issues.
  12. So tempted by this mate. It’s right up my Straße so to speak.
  13. Yes, all sorted mate. Well done 👍
  14. Might have been 😎 Someone bought it as it’s gone now.
  15. There would be a good argument for saying that, but I think it’s either crass stupidity or just bone idleness. Probably the latter. This just popped up on the used page. It’s not an MVJ, it’s not Shoreline Gold, it doesn’t have a matching headstock and it doesn’t have lollipop tuners 🤷‍♂️ I sent them an e-mail the other day to verify a ‘spec anomaly’ for one of their other used basses. They confirmed the spec shown was wrong citing the usual ‘new web site is coming soon’ bullshite. Have they amended it? No, of course not. They do a very good impression of not giving a fnck!
  16. I’ll keep an eye out as well. Have you managed to obtain the serial number? P.S. @Peter Popovic- your signature contains three massive photos, one of which doesn’t load and the other two appear identical.
  17. I can’t really speak as I’m as guilty as the next person, but some do get drawn into the Fender CS market expecting something that’s going to be better or equal to a quality vintage instrument. For a lot less money you can order a bespoke Shuker. You’ll get exactly what you want and it will probably sound better too. Co-incidentally I took one of my CS Precisions and my Shuker P to a gig last night. I played about half and half with each. There really wasn’t anything in it apart from the fact that the Shuker was substantially less £ and it felt more me as I played a part in how it turned out. Horses for courses, but if I was going down the P route again, I’d go Shuker.
  18. Never seen anything like that, but it’s got a bit of Punisher thing going on at the bridge end of the body. Nice.
  19. Agreed with the last three comments. No excuses for anyone involved in the supply chain in this example, but I can’t believe the non-functioning bass left the Custom Shop like that. They do have some quality control and the check that it actually makes noise is probably fairly near the top of the list. Regarding the other bass, how many other people has it been shipped to and returned? The reality is, we just don’t know. I’d be interested to know what dealer the OP bought these basses through. Thomann perhaps? I’ve played loads of Fender CS basses and own quite a few. The only two I’ve had issue with was a Pino Signature which had a really chunky neck that I didn’t particularly like and a Van Trigt Master Built which my brain couldn’t correlate the price tag with (£8k). It was a nice bass, but not 8 thousand pounds of nice.
  20. John doesn’t take commission builds though.
  21. Lots of copying and pasting with little regard to the actual instrument. I never take any spec measurements they list as legit. I always ask and invariably it’s not what they’ve shown.
  22. I'm not trying to dissuade you from trying/buying a Precision, but I'm not sure I understand why you think you need one because the new band is playing more blues. Tommy Shannon got by just fine with a Jazz.
  23. Fully insured door to door service for £60 (UK mainland only). PM me for the number.
  24. What you're doing wrong is not ringing 'Items 2 Go'.
