What is it with BD and Xotic? They have a nice XJ-1T in black with a chunk out of the paintwork.

For my money, a jazz dressed as a P would be worse than a J for that role.Gotta be a P.
It’s for this reason I had a natural Limelight and then a black Shuker Precision built for a Queen tribute.
No half measures for that I’m afraid.
4m is a weird length that most manufacturers don’t do as you’ve almost certainly found out already.
I really like Klotz cables. Not saying they are any better than others, but they work for me and have been (thus far) very durable.
Klotz do a 4.5m straight to right angle cable, so I’d be looking at this one….

If it matters enough and I’m sure it does if you’ve thought to start a thread on it, I think you owe it to yourself, the band and the punters to do it right.
I also would not be messing with a bass that I had really bonded with.
There’s plenty of options out there for a P with a J neck.
Charlie Chandlers Guitar Experience offer the service for already owned basses.
The various options are shown in the link below.
Starts at £150 for a fret dress….

My most recent purchase, an Xotic, was Plek’d by the manufacturer.
The action is ridiculously low (even for me and I like ‘em low) but I accept this may not be achievable on every instrument.
Is it worth it for the extra price? Probably not for me as I think I can wrangle most basses into a good (for me) set up.
Quite possibly worth it for someone for doesn’t like getting the tools out.
I wasn’t ridiculing anyone. It was humour - probably not worthy of stand-up though 🤷♂️.
I really can’t see the benefit of two separate threads given it’s on exactly the same subject. The 100’s of posters in that previous thread will now had notifications of further comments where they may have missed the new thread. I honestly thought it was beneficial for everyone. The Mods seemed to agree.
Apologies if my suggestion caused any upset.
Yes, if I was hiring the venue directly as a self promoted gig I would expect to have to pay a deposit, but I thought this guy was acting as an agent?
If so, that’s not how the agents I’ve work with operate. We play the gig, the venue pays the agent, the agency take their cut and the rest comes to the band.
I accept I might be in the minority here, but I am in my 50’s and have been playing gigs for about 40 years including some long stints in tribute bands. I still do theatres with my 80’s band and not once has a band I’ve been in ever paid a deposit to get a gig. Is this a common thing I’ve just not been party to all these years?
Have they? Bass Bros have a tiny percentage of stock that BD has, even taking into account the stuff that is in stock but actually isn’t 😂
Some are definitely turning to Bass Bros to move their basses/amps/effects on/part ex etc, but I’m convinced about all the other stuff.
Having wanted one of these for a while, I was quite accepting of the white plate. I do think it works better against the wooden pick-up covers. I'm preferring the tort at the moment, but having seen the plate is so easy to change, I can pop the white one on whenever.
I have to say I was unaware they came in any other colour. What other finishes were there?
