  1. I hate making comparisons because the product should stand on its own feet and not get coloured by something someone else has done....but I'm going to do it anyway 🤣 That second single (The Doctor) very much reminds me of one of my favourite bands Lionize. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the songs mate. Very well done.
  2. No offence intended, but the string spacing and position in relation to the mid-line of the fretboard is er....well, not great.
  3. I'll take your word for it. I've heard the name Glarry, but have no knowledge of the product.
  4. So, the strings are OK then? I've seen a few videos of people taking delivery of HB basses and the first thing they do is go about trying to fix the several things that's not to like about them. It's possibly me, but that doesn't compute in my head. Why would you buy something with known issues that you have to fix to make it playable - well, at least the way you want it. I'm given to understand that after the work it can still come out a good bass at a decent price point, but the whole process is not for me. Apologies for the derail.
  5. For the sake of not looking to find any other reason, let's say it's why the Glastonbury line-up is so awful this year.
  6. Upgrade to a Harley Benton? Is that even possible? 🤣
  7. Erm, not to me, in fact it makes perfect sense. I seem to remember the Line 6’s are also designed that way.
  8. I’m not sure I follow you. I don’t know why you would want to deactivate the tuner function. I’ve had a Boss TU-3 on my pedal board for what seems like forever and have recently removed it as I’ve not used it since the Shure arrived.
  9. Mmm. I’m trying to wrap my head around whether it’s OK for a bandleader to be that prescriptive regarding the bass/sound of a genre specific band. I think in some cases it can be justified, but Laing out on a gig because you have a Cort is a bit harsh.
  10. Alive and well even on Basschat. I read a comment from a regular poster here just the other day which made me think ‘seriously, you’re making that point again about your special bass’. I just yawned and scrolled on. That person is by no means alone.
  11. In terms of sound, it’s excellent with no noticeable latency. The battery packs in the transmitters are Shure’s own and they last very well on a single charge. They are replaceable as well, not that I’ve ever needed to. I did a four hour rehearsal last night starting with a freshly charged pack. I reckon that same pack will see me through tomorrows soundcheck and the whole gig as well before I need to change over to my back up pack. Another thing I really like about the Shure system is the clips on the transmitters are excellent. They are so strong and clip sturdily to a belt, back pocket, strap or whatever you want without the need for a pouch. A very well thought out and solid design.
  12. I makes me smile reading some of these comments about the 'lack of professionalism' in using iPads/tablets and the like. Just because you can't see the iPad/tablet doesn't mean that some of the biggest names in the business who receive adoration from millions don't use screens during live performance. They were clearly in use bedded into the front of the stage at the Platinum Jubilee event.
  13. I’m sure @walshy would could concur. I think between the two of us we’ve road tested that unit in clubs, theatres and large festivals without issue….which is more than I can say for several other wireless sets I’ve tried in the past.
  14. There are quite a few threads on here with various opinions on the subject. I’ll give my standard response of the Shure GLXD16 being the best of the many I have tried. Not cheap, but bombproof and worth it in my opinion. https://www.shure.com/en-GB/products/wireless-systems/glx-d_digital_wireless/glxd16-guitar-pedal-set
  15. Yes, I noticed that. Poor Mica Paris barely had a second of air time in close up and I think one of the two other singers she was with wasn't shown at all. Very poor direction during that segment.
  16. What sort of battery compartment do you have? Is it the screw down type or one of those plastic flip up ones? I think the Classic normally has the screw down type. If it's a flip up one, check/clean the contacts. I've had that before where corrosion is not allowing a good contact. The symptom sounds like a problem I had with my jazz a few years back. One of the solder joints was on it's way out. Re-soldered and sorted.
  17. Another month passes and I find myself 5 months into 2022 without a purchase. Hand on heart, I’ve wobbled a few times and had abstinence obliterating conversations about various basses with their respective sellers, but as of 1-6-2022, I’m still in. No one is more surprised than me I can tell you 😂
  18. It’s the original studio recorded vocals.
  19. I didn’t say you had to agree because it’s popular or because I like it. I think the standard of their song construction speaks for itself. If you can’t see or hear that, it’s your loss.
  20. Again, I'm not suggesting you should like them, but 'mediocre middle of the road generic formulaic pop pap' says a lot. The ability to admire the quality in something you don't necessarily like is a virtue. I'd never buy a Ferrari (for various genuine reasons), but man they are sweet!
  21. You don’t have to like them, but the songwriting and construction is a thing of beauty and some of those bass lines are so good to play.
