For festival gigs we crow bar as much in as we can. The penultimate song is usually the one that gets earmarked for the chop should there be any timing disasters. That way we can end with the song we want to end on.

John Taylor Signature Dingwall Combustion
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Napalmnun's topic in Bass Guitars
I like that a lot. Wonder what the price pint will be? Fancied having a Dingwall again for some time. -
I think I’m completely the opposite. The first bass that I properly fell in love with was a jazz. Over the decades I’ve spent a lot of time and money discovering many other makes and models only to come to the realisation that the jazz bass is where it’s at for me. There are others I like a lot, but a jazz just feels like home.

How was your gig last night?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassninja's topic in General Discussion
Shouldn't that always be the case? I don't gig for my enjoyment. I do it for the people who pay the money to see us. -
Come to think of it, if we're talking Bowie, I REALLY like Tin Machine who appear to be despised among the Bowie fan base. I campaigned long and hard in my Bowie trib to do Under The God, but it never happened. Baby Universal nearly made an appearance too. Singer was up for them, but there was too much other good stuff to learn 🤷♂️

Might be a while getting a response from him as he’s banned.

I think both of those are thought of as far better than Test For Echo which seems to draw a lot of negative comments. I continue to be a little confused at to why Clockwork Angels gets panned as badly as it does. I quite like it. None of the above are their best in my opinion. I listened to both A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres just yesterday. They take some beating.

I think it’s next weekend that may be more of an issue. I have one on Saturday 17/9 and have asked the band leader to contact the venue. No response as of yet.

When I read the thread title, ‘Tonight’ came to mind immediately. In fact, I did an interview on radio a couple of years ago, when ChangesTwoBowie was still a going concern, defending the album. The problem is that it’s up against some really stiff competition from the rest of Bowie’s oeuvre. As much as I like it, would I say it’s his best work? I don’t think I can, but it’s definitely nowhere near as bad as some would have us believe.

Never been there, but I’ve admired their small selection of Fender CS basses online over the years. They always seem to have some really nice examples. I guess they must spec them to their desire knowing they’ll sell eventually. Nice to know they’re good guys 👍

Rarer than heck, Stanley Clarke "Spellbinder" at Bass Bros
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
Much like the Alembic SC then 😎 -
@NikNik - does the neck have inlays?
-
Admittedly my experience was UK to USA, but it was anything but easy. If it wasn’t for the manufacturer stepping in (Alembic) we’d never have got it sorted.

Having had a recent nightmare experience with UPS in the thread below, I’ll guess this is almost certainly to do with commodity codes i.e. lack of information provided by the seller as to what the neck is made of. UPS don’t make it easy letting you know what is required prior to shipping. I hope you get it sorted. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/460929-a-tale-of-international-shipping/

That is a MASSIVE improvement over the first link. Thanks for posting it. I found the first download to be glitchy, especially during the Pretenders set. Just watched the 1080p one and it is perfect.

Just re-watched the Jeff Buckley section. I can't imagine there were too many people with their hands in the air when DG asked who wants to sing 'Grace'. Well done Violet 👏
