  1. Nearly did this myself, not with Thomann, but a boutique bass shop in Belgium. I dithered too long and the bass sold 😞
  2. Didn’t go well. Sting and Suzi Q, the. She started guessing; Rick Parfitt, Francis Rossi, Andrea Corr 🤷‍♂️
  3. I’m guessing Survivor? But that’s only because of the daft hat.
  4. Do you have a picture of it with the rest? Is it one of the Zero-Mod ones or did you have to get the drill out?
  5. The danger with saying ‘10 bass players’ rather than ‘10 famous bass players’ is that she would do exactly that and name every bass player that I know. I think I’m going to have to specify famous/celebrity bass players. I would expect Sting to be in there and Geddy Lee, as we were front and centre at a Rush gig back in the day. Although I do think the younger, slim Alex Lifeson made more of an impression on her at the time. I’ll ask her tonight.
  6. I’m going to try this out on Mrs.H later and see what she comes up with.
  7. Yeah, I went almost the same route except I got back into them again when Baz joined. I like a lot of their post Cornwell material. Thanks for asking.
  8. As this seems to be the only Stranglers thread on Basschat, I'll ask this question here. Do any of you have the '50 Years in Black' live double CD? It was released last year as a limited edition through their web site. It was re-issued once more by popular demand and sold out again. It does not appear it will be released again. I asked this morning and they said there were no plans to do so. I would really like to hear it.
  9. He comes across the same in interviews. It's just the way he is. Good album though.
  10. He's probably musically ageist as well 😎
  11. I don't really hear what the problem is. What were you all expecting? Frank Sinatra? Love him or hate him, it was about par for a LiamG performance.
  12. What she’s wearing in the OP’s video would not have been out of place in the 60’s. Thigh high boots and mini-skirts. I don’t see an issue at all.
  13. Just done both. Sorry I’m so late to the party 😎
  14. My answer, as it has always been in the many threads on BC covering this subject, is have a back-up. I did go to a rehearsal the other week with just one bass and it wasn’t a nice feeling.
  15. Actually heard that on the radio the other day. Brought back some memories.
  16. I’m 9 minutes in to the demo vid and I’m definitely not even going to bother finding one to try. No passive tone control and thrives in active mode, ironic given she prefers passive tones.…and under the pickguard 😮
  17. A review of the bass. This guy isn’t digging in at all and sounds buzzy as hell and that neck plate 🤫 I’m only watching it as I was curious as to how much it weighs. She stated that her Ultra was too heavy, so I’m wondering just how light these are.
  18. Listened to both albums whilst on the dog walk this morning. There’s some nice stuff there. I try to make a mental notes of triggers when I listen to something new, things that I hear that remind me of other things I like, not that it means much. I’m not comparing, but I had Vulfpeck, Prince, Charlotte Hatherley and a couple of others in my head whilst listening. In the rig run-down video she said she’s not a massive fan of effects and likes to hear the sound of her bass. Mmm, lots going on the albums. Maybe she just meant live, which is quite possible. After ‘All I Want Is Everything’ finished, iTunes auto selected Mallrat. Another artist I’ve never heard before. I like.
  19. They’re probably both too busy on tour and being promoted by their record company 😎
  20. I made it through that rig-rundown video, but only just. It was made last year, so I guess she was still only 25, but I found it a bit cringeworthy. There are 99 ways to describe something other than ‘sick’ and the surfer dude ‘totally’ vibe wore a bit thin for me. interesting what she said about improv/jamming on bass when she was DJ’ing. That’s something I’ve not heard of before, but what a great idea! I was going to watch the Aguilar pod-cast video, but I was knackered and had to turn in. Might give it a look later.
  21. You think that’s tacky and vulgar? You should visit the city of Southend on a Friday night for a definition of tacky and vulgar 🤣
  22. Doesn't work quite as well when in print 🤷‍♂️
